History
Matt was raised by a single-father (Jonathon "Battling Jack" Murdock) in the neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen in New York City; Jack was a boxer by trade. Raised in the typical Irish-American fashion as a devout Roman Catholic, Matt's father attempted to instill in him a love for education and the firm belief that violence was not the answer. This left him unprepared to deal with the bullying he faced in primary school. He earned the sarcastic nickname "Daredevil" because he refuse to fight back and the other children simply assumed it was because he was afraid. Frustrated and looking for a way to vent, Matt began to train in secret.
Shortly after he began training, Matt saved a man from an oncoming truck and was blinded by a radioactive material that fell from the vehicle. The accident enhanced his remaining senses. Under the tutelage of a blind martial arts master, Stick, Matt learned to control his newfound abilities and became a formidable martial artist himself. Meanwhile, Matt graduated from high school and completed an undergraduate degree in history with a minor in economics.
He was accepted into Columbia Law School, along side his best friend Franklin Nelson, but before he could complete his degree, his father was murdered by the agents of the Fixer for refusing to throw a fight. When the legal system failed to enact justice, Matt donned a suit and Daredevil was born.
It was around this time that Matt met and fell in love with Elektra Natchios, daughter of a Greek diplomat. When Elektra and her father were kidnapped by terrorists, Matt donned the mask once more to save them. In the rescue, Elektra's father was killed and she left the country, breaking Matt's heart.
Eventually, Matt established a small New York law firm with Foggy, and vowed to serve the law as Matt Murdock and to fight evil beyond the law's reach as Daredevil. Daredevil has avoided killing his enemies as much as he could. He has even stopped other "crime fighters" (particularly the Punisher) from doling out their particular brand of justice. He has worked with the Punisher only when necessary, but he has also attempted to bring him to justice, going so far as to team with Spider-Man and Wolverine to do so.
Matt's dual identity was revealed in a tabloid after he definitively defeated the Kingpin in public. To avoid disbarment, Matt was forced to publicly and legally deny his dual identity, though the public remains unconvinced. He was incarcerated by the FBI which had been embarrassed by Matt's defeat of the Kingpin. He was placed in a population comprised of many of his enemies in the hope that he would be killed while in prison. Matt, aided by the Punisher, escaped shortly thereafter.
He contacted Foggy and asked him to place as many of his funds as possible into an untraceable off-shore account. That accomplished, Matt made his plans to embark for Paradise X, which he'd heard about while in prison. It wasn't a perfectly fool-proof escape plan, but Matt hoped that he could lay low on the island until things blew over, and he could return to society.
While on the island, Matthew Murdock met the two people who made up his destiny. The first, Katherine Pryde, was a young college student, and the second, Tony Stark, was an older sarcastic asshole Matt just couldn't get enough of. Though he initially denied attraction to both of them, he eventually found himself unable to deny it. His relationship with Katherine began first, while his friendship with Tony only grew stronger. Learning of his legal troubles, Tony spent a ridiculous amount of money to help Matt clear his name, and eventually the man was able to return to New York and pick up where his life had left off.
However, upon returning to New York, Matt became aware that even with his functional relationship with Katherine and his career restored, he wasn't as happy as he believed he would be. He found it difficult to forget his time with Tony, and eventually admitted to himself there was something more than just friendship with the other man. Tony knew something was wrong with his friend and eventually 'kidnapped' both Matt and Katherine, returning them to the island where they met for a brief vacation. It was during this trip that Katherine forced Matt to confess what was bothering him - that he was in love with both of them, and he didn't want just one of them, he wanted both. Thus, they began a tenuous polyamorous relationship on a tentative basis.
Nearly two years later, their relationship is strong and growing everyday. There are still bumps and detours, but those only bring the three closer in the end.

WEAKNESSES: Is sensitive to loud noises (especially at close range) and can enter a state of sensory overload if TOO many of his senses are stimulated at once. Is reserved and difficult to get to know personally. Prone to sarcasm and verbal sparring. Finds it difficult to trust others. Can hold a grudge for years.
Matthew is an extremely caring, loyal, devoted individual. Once he counts you among his friends there is nothing he won't do for you, and if you are someone he loves, you should be prepared to be pampered, spoiled, and protected with every ounce of his being. Even though he has this sensitive inner core, it is difficult for him to show it. He tends to express his care for someone in non-traditional ways, including luring them into verbal sparring and attempting to crush them with sarcasm. It isn't done out of meanness, but done simply because he really doesn't know any better way to express his emotions. Anyone who actually becomes friends with Matt needs to have a thick skin and needs to be able to put up with his own personal brand of mental gymnastics.
And one's goal should always be to make friends with him. Once someone finds themselves on Matthew's enemies list, they are almost never removed. He can hold a grudge for years and will not compromise on his hatred for someone until they work to prove to him they deserve it. Most simply aren't willing to go that far.
In short, Matt is an extremely passionate man. He loves and hates with the entirety of his being, and there are very few people who exist in the mediocre acquaintance stage of friendship with him.

Mutations
After his sight was taken by an accident involving radioactive waste, Matt's other four senses became preternaturally enhanced. His sense of touch is so sensitive that he can read by detecting the impressions of ink on paper. He is able to detect changes in temperature and air pressure which allows him to locate other people and to determine whether they are alive, how long they have been dead, and other subtle changes in body temperature due to things like blushing, arousal, etc. He can detect when bullets or other missiles have been launched, and his agility and reflexes allow him to react in time to avoid being hit provided enough distance from the origin. He can even feel residual body heat on an object or determine how recently a machine has been in use.
His sense of smell is enhanced to the point he can determine someone's identity by their own personal body odor, and remember and identify them no matter how well they mask their scent. He can also track individuals through small crowds of people at a distance of roughly 50 feet. His sense of taste is sensitive enough that he can detect the number of grains of salt on a pretzel, and he can determine the major ingredients of any food or drink he tastes.
His hearing is super-sensitive allowing him to hear sounds undetectable to the normal human ear. He can hear through soundproofed walls and can even hear hearts beating. Because of his combined enhanced senses, Matt has developed a fifth sense he has come to call "Radar Sense". It allows him to create a 3-D 360 degree map of the exact physical shape and position of objects. This is nowhere near as good as normal sight as he cannot see details or determine deferences in closely overlapping objects.
The mutations have allowed him to detect electromagnetic radiation from radio waves to gamma waves. He can even determine the color of objects by the amount of radiation they give off. At very close range he can detect the micro-voltage of a human being's brain.
Through his training, Matt has developed his strength, speed, agility, and endurance to the level of an Olympic athlete. He is an accomplished Mixed Martial Artist (with specialties in ninjitsu, judo, and aiki-jujutsu). He fights with a billy club disguised as a cane when he is in his civilian clothes. It is a versatile weapon containing thirty feet of aircraft control cable, which is connected to a case-hardened steel grapnel. Internal mechanisms allow the cable to be neatly wound and unwound, while a powerful spring launches the grapnel. He also usually carries two fighting batons.
