THE RULES

• ~thexyfiles is Male Pregnancy (M-preg) and Slash based community. Females can be played or NPC'd, but they are sterile, and as such, all male/female marriages are considered null and void under the new government legislation. They will not be allowed to marry or get paired up with fertile men, only with other women or sterile men.

• Following storylines are acceptable:
a) Created by you
b) Forced Pairings: When you apply, you can choose your character to be in a forced pairing (pairings are decided by mods, but if writers do not mesh well or have issues that can not be solved, contact the mods and they may grant reassignment)
Most forced pairings would be automatic storylines. These are the ones where celebrities know each other, like a band.
Reminder: things have changed so may be the character no longer wants to be involved with friends they had before, or costars and bandmates.
For Example: Gerard Way and Frank Iero, they are friends yes, but it's up to you the writers to reunite them as friends with in the community. If you both choose to not continue it that is up to you. Mods are not expected to reinforce it and characters don't have to be paired together if they are not wanted to be.
c) Undecided: These are the carriers/seeders that don't come in with a set storyline, either forced or not, they work through the community to find their own and work on it that way, to build the friendship and make families.

• There is a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to drama or OOC fuckery. Simply put: don’t be a dickhead. We won’t tolerate any: godmodding, player harassment, crossing of ic/ooc, forcing/shoving plot ideas onto other players without their consent and Mary Sues. We understand differences happen which is why we encourage you to get in touch with us if there are issues. The mods will remove players who violate any of this. The only drama we allow will be IC drama (as long as it’s within reason). While it can create fantastic plots, we’ll remind everyone that IC actions are not to be taken personally. We’re here to have fun after all.

• The character limit for an individual player will be set at three. If you choose to play more than one character we will hold all of your characters to the same standard of activity requirement. All characters must be active on a regular basis, through comments and threads/logs. If we notice your characters dying off, you will be asked to drop characters to a roster count we feel you can handle. To prevent role hogging, the moderators will be watching activity very closely based off characters and not just players alone.

• In this community, we will welcome all characters just as long as the person you are playing can be found on Google/Wikipedia. There is a vast variety of characters to choose from. You can play a celeb or play a character as PB/OC. Band members MUST be played celeb. Models and lesser known singers and actors can be played as PB/OC. If you wish to play a famous actor as PB/OC, please ask the mods before applying. Staff members can be both male and female but must be over 21 years of age.

• You can request a character's played by to be held at any time, but we will only hold it for 3 days. After that, you must apply with a journal you've already made for the character. There will be no competing for pb's - its a first come first serve policy.

• Also, there should be a suitable amount of clear icons for your character, with various expressions (smiling, serious, angry, etc.) One or two icons are not acceptable. If you need help with finding/making icons, the mod will be glad to assist you. Please use PBs appropriate for your character's age.

• Players are expected to post at least two journal entries of 100 words minimum each every month as well as keep up with replies to other characters and threads. Logs must be posted as well. Even if you haven't finished the scene, just put "To be continued." at the end of it. Activity checks will occur on last Sunday of each month and a list will be put up on the OOC community listing journals that need to make a post or risk removal. Players who have not made posts/logs or participated in threads by the following Tuesday will be removed. Characters that make this list more than twice in a row (or continuously meet the bare minimum to resist removal) will be given a warning for not meeting activity requirements. After a warning, this character will be removed on the second offense.

• Hiatuses are allowed for up to one month. A hiatus lasting for more than a month (as well as constant hiatuses) could result in your dismissal from the game. However, this will be dealt with case-by-case (constantly being busy with school is a lot different than not having access to a computer for a certain length of time). If a player needs additional time, some exceptions may be made.

• Also, bear in mind that character relationships need to be born of an agreement between both players, as well as believable. If players seem to have joined solely for shipping purposes (and are disregarding other parts of the game for it) or are forcing certain ships on other players they will only receive one warning before being dismissed from the game.

• Plots should be created with the pervasive storyline in mind and the RPG should not be used solely for any one purpose (shipping, for example).

• This is an adult rp with adult themes. If you do not want to read those posts, then don’t. If you don’t want to read the fluffy happy or angsty cut myself posts, then don’t. We don’t discourage any of it.

• Serious storylines that may be offensive or off-putting to others [like rape, drugs, fights, abuse, attempted suicide, etc] are perfectly fine, this is a darker themed rpg afterall, things are going to get intense. Just make sure to talk through your plot with the other player involved BEFORE starting the scene. Also remember to label the thread with a warning.

• If you feel you want to, you CAN kill off your own characters, but not anyone else's unless you've gotten permission from them. Also, make sure to contact the mods regarding it BEFORE the fact, just so we know.

• Make sure to put up an appropriate disclaimer on your character's user info page to let people know that the journal is for Role Playing purposes only and you are not the character you are portraying.

• The roleplay in this community takes place both on AIM and in threads. Each character is required to have their unique AIM screen name. Please use third person, past tense only for both AIM scenes and threads. No asterisks, no netspeak.
