ooc rules;

The Golden RP Rule. Do not be a jackass. Your character can be a jackass but you, the player, should try to treat your fellow players with respect. You don't have to like everyone but this is a game and it should be fun. Don't make it not fun. OOC vs IC: there is a line. Don't cross it. Don't take OOC knowledge IC. Don't take IC events personally OOC.

Age. Due to adult content, we are asking that all writers be over the legal age of majority for their country/territory (18 to 21). Obviously there is no stringent way of enforcing this, but it would make everyone more comfortable to assume/expect to be writing against mature individuals.

Character Limit. Players are welcome to apply for and play an unlimited number of characters-- we love enthusiasm, and activity! However, please note: activity guidelines will remain the same for one or ten characters, and any player showing an inability to keep their current characters active will be asked to consider their intentions with their inactive characters before holding/applying for any more.

Activity. Activity checks will take place every two weeks, on a rolling basis: the first inability to achieve activity will result in a 'warning'/lapse, at which time the mods will contact you and offer help with plot and a gentle nudge to seek activity with other players. After the second consecutive activity check (four weeks total) of no activity that meets requirement, the character in question will be removed and available for hold and application.

  Activity that fulfills requirement per character is as follows:
  • One communication post (IJ-style journal post or email) OR narrative (solo log) of at least two paragraphs.
  • Three communication posts (text message, shorter emails, shorter journal entries, social media) of "reasonable" interaction*
  • One action-thread (two or more player thread/log) of at least four comments/replies (two per player)
  •   *"Reasonable" is at mod discretion; defined here as something that moves some plot forward, has some purpose, or takes considerable time. "Be home soon // okay!" post will not count towards activity.

    ic rules;

    Age Restrictions. Because of the inherent mature themes and focus of the game, characters are asked to be 18+, the legal age of majority in America. Younger characters/PBs will be accepted on a case-by-case basis, so long as the mods feel the character will be able to fit the layout of the game. Vampires: Minimum age of 'maturity' for area leaders will be 350 years. Maximum age for leading vampires will be 800 (or so; given historical eras, slightly older may be acceptable depending on associated culture/society).

    Group Positions. Group positions (vampire, lycan, or human-political) are available for hold on the holds page along with PB and race. Positions will be held on a first-come, first-serve basis, and are open to all applicants. However, there are a few more requirements of position characters, above and beyond the everyman:
  • Group leaders will be asked to create storylines with the existing members of the group (obviously), as well as general ideas for potential new members, to be sought on comms like ~pbads, ~darkersls, etc.

  • Group leaders will be more responsible for creating/helping plot for group activity, threads, and/or interaction between the other groups and group leaders.

  • Group leaders are expected to be age appropriate in regards to the rest of the group (logically, a group of 30-40something weres is not going to bow to a 24 year old alpha, etc. Unless a good IC explanation is offered, please err on the older side of the group for a leadership position!)

  • Most of these things are self-explanatory, and are not in place to tie the hands of anyone looking to create a leader. Just helpful things to keep in mind!

    Journal/AIM Usage. Both AIM and personal journal usage are optional for the purposes of the game. Obviously, the characters will need some form of contact/interaction to keep the game going, but we understand the logic that not all characters would be using platforms like AIM or Livejournal. ~uglyorleans will be for IC interaction (threads, as well as media communication open to multiple characters; twitter, facebook, tumblr, etc). ~uglytruths will be for plot updates, line requests, and meta/OOC conversation. Personal journal posts can function as Livejournal-style posts.Preference is towards locked posts, but it is up to the player(s) if information is f-locked or public.
