coming to you from the merry old land of the pale and crooked teeth.
It's been a long time, hasn't it? A bit over a month since I've even bothered checking my email or this blog or this page, and for that, I am truly sorry. I'm sure there were rumors circulating about me drinking myself to death, or running off to a monastery, possibly the circus, or that I've ran off to a cave in the moutains and on cold nights when the moon shines full, you can here my cries of agony and despair if you turn your ear to the wind and listen closely.
Unfortunately, I am not a cave man. I've just been busy, and to all you loyal fans and such, I hope that my seclusion has paid off. Where am I? London, of course. After the Barclay tour, I hung up my bass (not permanently, you don't have to run off and create drama that I've quit the band) and picked up a pen, and started writing. Now. I've been writing my own things for well over a year now, and after that tour, given Luce's pregnancy as well as other personal issues that are not up for discussion, I decided that it was the best time to bow out for the time being and do my own thing. That's right ladies and gentleman, Joshua McGregor's solo project will be hitting you at the end of this month.
The band itself is called General Knowledge, and it has basically taken over my life for the last month and a half. With Barclay I got to put in a word here and there, but I mostly let everyone else take care of what needed to be taken care of. Now though? I get to be in charge (for the most part). I get to give my opinion, tell them how I would like things to go. It's my words and all that rubbish, I want them to be heard the way you're intended to hear them, and I've got to say, I'm very pleased with how it's come out. It's been nice to bury myself into work. As much as I love downtown, I feel at my best when I'm off my ass and actually doing something with myself. But don't get me wrong. There have been days where I have done nothing but sit in my boxers, eat loads of crisps and other fatty foods my nan loves to shove in my face, and play 8 straight hours of x-box, or watch rubbish on tv. That and go out to the pubs when Kyle is here and check out the open mic nights just for kicks. ALL STORIES FOR ANOTHER TIME, MY PETS. The point is! I've got a new album out. The single will be out in a week. And the album? Out at the end of the month. I will post the album and single artwork another time, and I've been working on giving myspace.com a rest for now and maybe starting an official McG blog. Don't know yet! So much to plan, so little time!
Things on my agenda: heading back to Canada. Missing my mum and my brothers LOADS, and there is also a pregnant woman's stomach I've got to rub and sing to, and convince my best mate that BLAKE is not a good name for the bun in the oven. Who thinks Lucy Davis should name her future child after me? Leave it in a comment, and I will tally the votes and present her with the evidence of how epic my name is. It just rolls off the tongue, doesn't it? Joooossshhhuuuaaaaaa. Other things on my agenda: touring as soon as possible. This is obvious. You all know that I live for life on the road and the epic adventures of the tour bus that you've all seen from that damned MTV show. I want to do it again and maybe do my own video blogs, find someone to tour with...I DON'T KNOW, all in good time, children. Number three? How do you all like my new look? I've ditched the short hair and polos and going for the "Piss off, I have long hair and wear shirts and jeans to fancy restaurants" look. Yes/No? Is it Axe approved? Ladies...send in your opinions. Right now though, I've got to swing by my nan's and eat a mountain of glorious food, and spend my last few nights in London trying not to freeze my sack off or get lost in the fog. Until next time ~
