Constantly under construction...

APRIL 29, 1993;
Born in Seoul, a baby girl is born to Kim Hyoseon and Go Seongpil at 3:54am weighing a tiny 2859 grams (6 lbs 4 oz) and a length of 48.6 cm (19.1 in). She is named Younha (윤하). She is the couple's first child after 3 years of marriage.

DECEMBER 20, 1993;
Younha's first Christmas. In comes 1 year old Yang Seungho, just barely able to walk around. The boy becomes a fixture to stay in her life from then on. Their parents are friends and it's a wonder that the two young children haven't interacted before this date, though neither of them will probably remember it at all given their ages. The young boy sits down in the living room by the Christmas Tree with his new yellow Tonka trucks, a gift from the Go parents. The young 8 month-old girl, only just getting the hang of this crawling business, makes her way over to the other but she goes for the brightly colored truck, not him. It's their first fight, one which Younha wins, and by the end of the night they're inseparable and cry when Seungho has to go home.

AGE 4;
The piano lessons begin. Before now, Younha owned a yellow toy piano that she tinkered with for 2 years before learning how to climb up onto the piano bench and bang on the keys of the upright piano that sat in the living room. For being so young, she picks it up quickly once she starts lessons and the piano becomes her chief instrument for the years to come. It's also discovered that she has a talent for singing and remembering melodies and simple phrases of lyrics; she is not to receive vocal lessons anytime soon though.

AGE 6: FIRST GRADE;
Enter Kim Hyungjoon, a second grader and someone Younha quickly befriends while playing during recess once day. They find common ground in science (as young as they are) and the routes that their imaginations took while playing together. He is the one that eventually teaches Younha the ways of the Force. It doesn't take them long to be able to arrange a 'play date' at the Kim house, and soon Younha is introduced to Kibum. She recognizes him immediately as her classmate and the three of them, despite the brothers constantly beating on each other, become the best of friends and begin acting like siblings.

AGE 7: FOURTH GRADE;
On June 18, 2000, at 12:49PM, another baby girl is born to the Go family. Her name is Younjin. Younha is overjoyed to have a baby sister and she immediately runs over to the Kim and Yang houses in turn to deliver the news herself with an amount of pure excitement and joy that is hard to not call adorable.

It should also be noted that at some time in the spring of this year, a day came when it rained unexpectedly while Younha was at the Kim residents for the afternoon. That day resulted in the building of a blanket house by young Kibum and Younha. It's one of the few they'll build as children and it's one of Younha's earliest memories.

AGE 8: THIRD GRADE;
Third grade marks the first year that Younha ever plays Soccer on a team. It was purely for fun, really though, it's an excuse to make sure that the hyperactive girl has a healthy way to expel all that excess energy of her. Seungho plays on her team as goal-keeper most of the time. Elementary school marks are the only time they get to play on any teams together.

A new friend is made this year as well. A new family moves into the neighborhood where Younha and the Kim Brothers live, a young-looking man and his niece named Park Jiyeon. The six year old girl is a ball of aegyo, hyper, friendly and somewhat violent. Younha takes to her quickly, and occasionally manages to rope Kibum into playing house with her and the younger girl - Kibum is always the Appa, Younha the Umma and Jiyeon the daughter. They don't function very well as a family at this age though, as Kibum has a bit too much fun picking on the girls affectionately and tugging Jiyeon pigtails. Not to mention the amount of physical rough-housing the older pair tended to embark on at this age.

AGE 10: FIFTH GRADE;
Gone are the days when Younha dresses in pretty pastels and cute little dresses and shoes. Younha's girlishness had begun to fade far before this age, but after her 10th birthday the girl shifts into Tomboy-ish fashion. Having boys as her best friends all these years has taught her that it's useless to dress nice every day if you're just going to end up getting dirty and sweaty while playing outside with your friends. This trend ends up being permanent, more or less.

MIDDLE SCHOOL;
The more quiet years of Younha's life are spent in Middle School. Younha is a member of the girls softball and soccer teams. She's shown promise in her musical and academic courses (languages, and science prove to be her strongest). Her after school time is occupied by the occasional play date still, but most days are packed with sports practices, games, homework and music lessons. Younha has mastered the piano and moved on to the drums, thanks to her love for classic rock music and ability to hold a beat easily. She does, however make an effort to go to as many of Kibum, Hyungjoon and Seungho's competitions and games as she can as their personal cheerleader.

At the age of 11 she gets her first crush, on a boy that plays on the boys soccer team. It remains a crush though, and she does nothing to act on it. With this crush comes the beginning compositions of a few songs, the first she's ever tried to write on her own.

Age 13 brings an age of confusion for Younha. She finds herself starting to crush on a female classmate. The girl is a year older than her, held back a year for some reason, and is, well, she's starting to develop a little more than the other girls their age. Again, Younha did nothing to act on her crush, instead she tried to ignore it (and the girl) as much as possible.

SUMMER 2007;
Younha is exposed to the underground scene for the very first time. A few oppadeul let her tag along on a few outings and that is where she discovered the talents of a rapper by the name of Tablo and his two friends. She became a fan instantly and begged her oppadeul to let her tag along more often just so she could see the group more often. For a late birthday present that summer, they pitched in and bought the groups EP, which was on sale at the show and secretly got all 3 members of the group to sign it for her - Younha was overjoyed.

FRESHMAN YEAR;
Ahh, freshman year in High School. Younha has grown to her full height (161 cm) and shows no signs of getting taller. Her boyish ways are still going strong, her hair has even been chopped to an asymmetrical boy cut and her attire is still all tomboy. She takes up the role of pianist for the Glee Club and falls in love with the atmosphere of the whole club, however she refuses to perform with the others. It's the first signs of stage fright she's ever shown.

The year is a big one full of new friends - including developing a friendship with her classmate, the cold and aloof Lee Hongki (who is to become another best friend of hers), Choi Jonghun (the guitarist, he's too cool looking for any other description), Lee Jihyun (an acquaintance for most of their high school years), Lee Jinki (a smiley young boy from Glee) and the English teacher, Daniel Lee (it took her almost a year to figure out that Daniel and Tablo were the same person) - and the continuation of older ones. It is also filled with more confusion as Younha finds herself crushing on both girls and boys left and right.
A side note: the end of her freshman year she's rewarded with a new bedroom, the attic, which has been sound-proofed especially for her; Younha is now onto her third serious instrument - the guitar.

WINTER BREAK 2008;
This break marks a big step in the young girls path to finding herself. She finds that she's not the only confused on in her circle of friends and confides her confusion to one of her closest friends, Yang Seungho. They may practically be siblings, but there has always been the understanding that they are in no way related at all. The two, both confused and curious, decide to experiment. Few know of the night the two slept together and lost their virginity, but after the deed was done there was no change in their relationship at all.

SOPHOMORE YEAR;
Enter a few key players in Younha's life thus far. The first is Lee Taemin. He appears as a freshman, a shy one at that with a passion for dance. He joins the Glee Club and Younha becomes attached to him quickly. He feeds her (thank you Tachibana's) and helps her keep her now fluent Japanese flawless. He becomes a son-like-figure to the older girl, making her protective of him.

Next comes a event more than anything. Younha gets her first boyfriend. She's still curious about these wavering feelings she has for both sexes of the human race, but she figures why not give it a try. It's a bust though, and they last a few months, if that, before breaking it off. Younha begins to wonder if maybe she is only compatible with men in a friendly way.

Now, enter Park Gyuri, the first girl-friend of Younha's, besides Jiyeon, ever to earn best friend status. They're a perfect match and Younha finds that she's strangely compatible with the younger girl in a way she'd never managed to find in other girls she'd befriended. She quickly become someone Younha playfully calls 'jagiya' off and on for their entire friendship.

Finally comes Younha's first girlfriend. It's not something that was planned and Younha finds it rather exciting and fun, and learn a lot about her own body and mind through the duration of the relationship. The girl is Younha's first actual love and they date for a solid year in secret before their spark starts to fizzle out and they break it off. Mutual or not, it was sad for the young girl.

JUNIOR YEAR;
The age of confusion is at its end. Younha has officially figured out that she's bisexual and is comfortable with this development, but not so much with her family finding out. Jiyeon begins her high school career and Younha practically hovers over the girl for the first half of the year to make sure she's alright. Also enter, Bang Minah that December, a transfer from across town. The bubbly girl is a friend of Jiyeon's and a new fixture in Younha's life since the young girl seems to follow Hongki around like a puppy dog.

Younha remains the epitome of a tomboy in appearance and jest, but she's no longer able to hide her filled out figure as well as before and instead starts to shoot for a cross-over style that allows her the comforts of being a tomboy, but shows off the fact that she is, in fact, a girl. She even goes blonde for a while! Oh and over the summer, she totally got her first and still current car a red 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible and she's named it Scotty after Montgomery Scott from Star Trek.

AUGUST-SEPTEMBER 2010: THE BEGINNINGS;
After over 10 years of friendship, things start to change between Younha and Kibum. Kibum is no longer her playful Oppa, he's now grown into an attractive man, and a leader of the Speed-Skating world, and what's more Younha has begun to notice it. Being his best friend she finds that over these years, there have actually been times where she's been jealous of whomever he was dating at the time. She's nowhere near evil enough to try and make him jealous in some way, but she does dangle a crush she's begun to harbor for another classmate in front of him at one point and with little reaction from it she figures it'd be better to just look at him as her oppa forever. However, feelings don't work as logically as her mind does.

OCTOBER 19, 2010: THE START OF SOMETHING NEW;
No exact time is recorded into the Captain Log, but Kibum seriously asks Younha to be his girlfriend. Younha is surprised and happy, but still skeptical - the two have always been the kind to mess with each other's heads, especially now that they're older and fighting like children is no longer acceptable - and he's even more skeptical of her saying yes. It takes a short sincere conversation for the skepticism to lift and she allows herself to fall in love with him in this way now.

SENIOR YEAR;
The home stretch has been reached. All that's left is for colleges to be applied to, except there's one little snag in this road. Younha's parents - though they've been the picture of perfect parents for the most part, lenient to a point, supportive and encouraging - decide that she's not to go college. Instead, she's to use her musical skills and become an idol as a way for her parents to live vicariously through her. Younha doesn't want this life, not after seeing Kibum deal with the vicious media for most of his life, and begins the fight for her own dreams.

That's not the only event of senior year though. The year is peppered with new friends, and a new status in the Glee Club - she's now sort of the captain of the group, helping with the organizing and putting on events in the Glee Club's name as well as helping the group better their skills. It's here that realizes that she'd enjoys helping others in this way and decides on a career of music education and training as her path.

OCTOBER 19, 2011: FOREVER AND ALWAYS;
One year has passed since the day that Kibum and Younha decided to embark as a couple as opposed to just best friends. Younha hadn't planned on being as in love with him as she is and also hadn't planned on the days events to happen for at least another year or two. Not that she minded at the end of the day.

The event happens during the school day and no one but them are the witnesses. Kibum had planned a specially structured series of notes that lead Younha to the piano in the music room. There she found a ring, but not just any ring, an engagement ring with a purple diamond, and from the shadows of the room with the song I Need You by Marc Anthony playing, Kibum came out and took the ring before getting down on one knee. No, it was not a trick. This was an actual proposal of marriage and Younha immediately said yes.

NOVEMBER 10, 2011: THE CSATS;
Prep for the CSATs had Younha with her nose in her books for a solid month on top of also having regular classes to attend and homework to do. Home life has been anything but pleasant for the young teenager and the day that the dreaded tests are done and over with turns out to be the perfect opportunity for a much needed break from being at home. It's the day that she's introduced and given a key to the place that will be her permanent home sooner than either herself or Kibum expect: The Death Star. That's what they call it, because they're allowed to, of course. The apartment was once Kibum's just for when he was too tired to make the long trek from training to the house, and now it has been redecorated for the two of them. It soon becomes Younha's new favorite place to hide when things are almost unbearable at home.

DECEMBER 11, 2011: THE LAST STRAW;
Younha's father crosses the line which Younha has drawn in the sand for her parents. A recording agency had found a cover song Younha had done floating around on youtube, they called the house after identifying who it was and Younha's father took it upon himself to set up an audition for the girl. The plot was to keep it a secret until the day of the audition, but the clever Younjin found out about it first and let the cat out of the bag the night before the audition. Younha was furious and after a yelling match with her father stormed up to her bedroom and packed the last of her things. Kibum arrived only ten minutes after Younha had retreated and that night she officially moved out of the family house and permanently into The Death Star.

JANUARY - MARCH 2012;
The winter passes and fades into spring. Over the months, Younha has applied to several colleges, a few of them in the states and she goes over there for a week with Hongki to check them out. She quickly comes to the conclusion that studying abroad isn't for her. Her place is in Seoul or wherever Kibum is.

It isn't until the beginning of February that Younha even starts thinking about making amends with her father. She's barely said a word to him since she left home and finally by the end of the month they've come to an understanding, and Younha has gotten the written consent she needs to be able to marry Kibum before her 21st birthday.

March comes and Younha graduates form High School with flying colors - high marks across the board (except for her history classes, they've always been her weakness) and she's accepted to all of the schools she's applied to. Now she must make her decision about what to go with. It takes the next half of the month for her to pick, but in the end she chooses Yonsei University, the only school that has offered her a full ride scholarship for soccer.

OCTOBER 20, 2012: I DO;
Saturday, October 20, 2012, marked the first day of Younha and Kibum's married life. They said their I Dos at the Myung-dong Cathedral in Myung-dong, Seoul. Tears were shed, smiles were worn for the entire day and Star Wars was referenced in excess. Generally, Younha has never felt so happy as she did on that day. Their Honeymoon will have to wait until a break from school, but Younha doesn't really care about that - she's happy enough as it is. A proper Honeymoon can wait until the time is better.

facts and secrets
WON'T YOU MAKE YOURSELF AT HOME
_______________________________

Virtuouso
Pick an instrument, any instrument, and Younha has probably picked it up and attempted to learn it before. There are only a handful of them that she actually liked and stuck to though, and that would be the piano, guitar and drums. She has at least one of each sitting in a corner of her bedroom (3 guitars actually- 1 acoustic, 2 electric) where she practices and writes/records songs at any and all times of the day or night.

Sports Lover and Player
True to her tomboy attitude and appearance, Younha loves sports. Baseball and Soccer are her favorites to play. In fact she's one of the starting offensive midfielders on the girl's soccer team, and she plays pretty much all year round, if she can swing it. Her other favorite that she doesn't play herself: speed skating. She loves watching it, mostly because her husband is a shoe-in for the Korean Olympic Team. She catches as many of the races as she can on TV when she can't be there personally, and will often cancel plans just to make sure she can watch them.

Why, Yes, I do speak Geek
Star Wars, Harry Potter, Star Trek, Pokemon, Anime, Supernatural, Lord of the Rings, the list goes on and on. Younha has no shame quoting, making bad puns or even making bad jokes that refer to any and all things 'geek' that she has a love for. In school she tries to keep it at a minimum, but she can't control her mouth all the time, after all.

Loyal as a Dog
Friends are and always will be one of Younha's top priority. When Younha makes a friend she counts them as family and treats them that way too. She's fiercely loyal and protective of her friends, meaning if you did anything to harm one of them, then you've made yourself an enemy, and that is a very hard thing to do with someone as gentle and kind as Younha. Did we mention she's relatively obedient as well?

Sherlock Holmes
A keen observer of details in the world around her, Younha is one to quickly pick up on subtle details. She'd the kind of person that will notice the change in the way someone carries themselves and friend or foe, she's the kind that would approach them with a gentle smile just to check to see if they're alright. Her observation skills don't extend to just people though. She'll notice small details about anything and they usually stick with her for good.

Worry wart
Because Younha is a gentle and caring soul, she tends to worry a lot more than she should. She tends to be a mother hen with many of her friends, worrying about them whenever something happens, or they're working themselves too hard. This is a somewhat self destructive though, since she's been known to literally worry herself sick. She'll try her best to seem as if she's not worrying so much, using a well fabricated fake smile to replace the one that's usually naturally on her lips, but most who know her well enough will be able to see the flaws in the supposedly perfect cover.

Studious Student
Life isn't all about music and sports for Younha, she actually enjoys school for the scholastic part of it a lot. She's a straight A student for the most part, and you could call her a nerd for it, she wouldn't really care at all actually if you did. She loves to learn new things. Her favorite subjects? Languages. She's currently fluent in Japanese, which she taught herself mostly, and semi-fluent in English.

Food and Coffee
If there's two things in this world that she loves more than her friends, family, music and soccer, it's food and coffee. She loves to eat, and the spicier the better; she has a insanely high tolerance for spices and can, quite literally, eat hot peppers raw (seeds and all) with no problem. She also loves coffee. Younha lives off the stuff and usually isn't functioning normally in the morning unless she has a cup of the bitter liquid in her hand. Sometimes she wonders if her occasional insomnia is to blame on the coffee she constantly drinks, but she's yet to prove that as the reason.

Kid at Heart
Despite being 18 years old now and usually sounding far older and wiser than her age, Younha has a tendency to let her inner child come out more often than not. She's a sucker for Disney movies (Peter Pan is her favorite), watches cartoons with her younger sister every Saturday if she can and collects Leggos, which she uses to build things when she's bored. Her behavior usually mirrors that inner child more often than not and she can seem almost like an excited 5-year-old child.

Forever a Tomboy
Younha has been a tomboy most of her life. She was a girly girl back when she was younger, but that phase ended when her baby sister was born and shows little sign of turning back into a girly girl. She does have her moments, though, where she'll dress a little more girly or grown up than usual, and they're slowly increasing, but Younha has enough hate for skirts and dresses to even be able to dress like that again. She'll dress up for special occasions and events, but that's about it.

Married
On October 20, 2012, Younha and her long-time-best-friend-turned-boyfriend-then-fiance Kim Kibum tied the knot. They were surrounded by family and friends. The service was simple and traditional. The reception... was filled with Star Wars and other geektastic references. Younha couldn't be happier to be married to her best friend and she's already looking forward to their future together.

Expectations
Younha tries to act like there's nothing wrong, but her family life if far from perfect. During her senior year her parents showed their true colors - they've been breeding her to be an idol, essentially. Younha did not want this path for herself, instead she wanted to go to school to be a music teacher, and the fighting got so bad between herself and her parents (her father mostly) that she left the house for good in December of 2011. Things are on track for getting better, but Younha may never completely forgive her parents for trying to force her to live out their unfulfilled dreams.

Fears
Being the prideful person that she is, few, if any, know that Younha has any type of fear. In fact she has two: stage fright and claustrophobia. The stage fright is more commonly known among her friends and she's genuinely trying to get over it at least a little, mostly because her degree requires that she do some performing arts classes. Claustrophobia, however, is something she keeps a secret if she can. She avoids elevators if she can and staying in large crowds. It's also the reason why she has a convertible instead of regular car.

character analysis
NOTHING CAN PHASE ME, I MAKE MY OWN SUNSHINE
_______________________________

Younha, at first impression can be seen as a bubbly, bright, optimistic, tomboy. She's quirky and has always done her own thing, paying no mind to the status quo or pressures of being a girl in Korean society. She's not the skinniest and most definitely not the tallest, but she is comfortable in her skin. There is more to Younha than meets the eye though. On the outside she shows that she's a geek (without qualms, mind you) and a musician, and, for lack of a better word, a child, but she's more complex than that. She looks at the world through a microscope, almost, taking in the finest details she can in one glance and storing them in her memory. This often makes her resemble a child with ADD, but it's simply her way of absorbing information about her surroundings quickly.

Younha operates on a basic logic system. I'm not talking binary logic where everything is black and white, but one where she can at least attempt to see the shades of grey and other colors between the two extremes. When making a decision, or giving someone advice on a decision that was made, she will look at it from the logical point of view - if something caused a certain way of thinking and that makes sense then your logic is sound, if the decision is made purely on a whim with no thought behind it, then you'll have a hard time getting her on your side.

Being good at math, science and music even at a young age has given Younha the habit of breaking things down and examining things step by step before looking at the whole again. This results in a distinct thinking process for the sake of understanding everything instead of just part of something; her thirst for knowledge and learning has a hand in this as well. Another result of this, Younha likes to plan. She rarely if ever does something spontaneously, at least when it's something that could have consequences, like change for instance, and if her plan somehow goes wrong that will throw her off immediately and send her into a panic attack. It's not that she's OCD about it, it's more that she likes knowing what will and will not happen in advance.

Following those lines, Younha is also very stubborn and doesn't like this thing called change. When her mind if set on something it's very hard to get her to change it. This shows up in even the simplest things, like assignments for school. It's often rather self-destructive, especially when it comes to getting something right - ex. if she has a new piece of music to learn for something she will practice until her voice gives out or her fingers turn numb. This flows into her dislike for change. Change only happens for three reasons in Younha book: 1) it's logical to have said change, 2) the consequences have been clearly weighed and 3) it will not disrupt any plans she may have in effect. If change falls under any of those options then she is fine with it, but otherwise she is not.

Emotions are a completely different beast compared to her thinking style. She still exhibits her logical way of thinking, but when emotions are involved she will be more likely to do what feels right as opposed to what is logical. When Younha feels it's not something that is taken in stride, they are something that is part of the human condition and she is very aware of this. The only emotion she doesn't like to show is sadness, she'll hide anything that's troubling her under a well fabricated smile as long as she can. She internalizes the negative unless she has a reason to let biting remarks of anger or tears show. This too can often be rather self-destructive as it can occasionally send her into a bout of mild depression if she's not careful and will often make her worry too much about others. She's started to get better at not internalizing things as much though.

While we're still on the subject of emotions, Love seems to be the most complex of them for Younha. She's been in love twice in her life: once with her ex-girlfriend and now with her fiance. She'll tell you that every love is different, though it may feel similar, and that when you're in love it's very hard to think logically. So, with her, she'll usually forgo logic if it feels right to do so, and she's usually pleasantly surprised with the outcomes. Despite her tomboy ways and lack of certain emotions, Younha is a hopeless romantic. She's a sucker for the cheesy and the sickly sweet, something her fiance is definitely good at bringing to the table because, according to Younha, he's the same way. When Younha loves it's on many different levels and that makes any person she comes to care about part of her life forever if she has her way.

Going back to the basics of Younha, she's a rather simple being. She's relatively easy to please, but she doesn't look to be pleased. She's humble and would rather stay in the shadows than be in the lime-light. She's lazy when she wants to be and active a majority of the time. Pie is the most amazing thing in the world to her, as are S'Mores. She'll take sugar over veggies any day, but thanks to her active lifestyle, she doesn't seem to have to worry too much about her diet - not that she'd care much anyways. Her aim in life, regardless of her want to be a teacher, is to never fully grow up. Growing up seems overrated to her and honestly she finds that too many adults are serious these days. She'd rather be the kind of adult that will at least attempt to understand the younger generations as opposed to instilling traditions.
