Sweet Circe, if only I could find a potion to give me ten arms and eliminate the necessity of sleep, my life would be so much simpler.

Does anyone know a good sitter who is free on Thursdays and Saturdays? I need to go back to work soon ~~and those were Berk's days off, so I should find a---~~ and ~~our~~ my current one can't be around then. ~~I'd rather stay home and watch Mara myself, but now since I'm the only one to~~ ~~Stop writing such pathetic, unnecessary commentary, for Merlin's sake, Amelia~~ I'm willing to pay extra for someone with good qualifications.

Apparently the healers at St. Mungo's don't want their rights back. Fine. FINE. When I reform these new laws, I'm going to include a clause that says 'All of the above applies to all who are not St. Mungo's healers who at one point or another made one Amelia Susan Bones stay overnight for no. good. reason.'

[PRIVATE] With all of this getting worse, I feel like people are looking to me more than ever, right when I've never felt more bloody useless. And I'm slowing down, I feel it everywhere, it's hard to get up in the mornings and go to work, but I'm scared to death about what happens in a month, month and a half when I go on leave because if I'm not there, then who is? Ever since Tiberius was suspended, I feel like I can hardly trust a soul on the Wizengamot, and if he's not back by then, I don't know if I'll be able to get rid of the guilt long enough to go.

I need to be doing more, but everything that I can think of feels futile. I've got to try, but how do I get up the resolve in the middle of all this to honestly work towards a solution?

I'd like to speak up for myself and amend the Prophet in saying that not all of the Wizengamot was so enthused over these new provisions. I feel like I need to defend myself from being bunched in with my colleagues.

It's ~~fucking~~ bloody appalling, the kinds of things that get put before the Wizengamot these days. It makes me worry, really makes me worry that people would actually draft up bills like this, that would so blatantly defy the basic human rights of any group. That enough people would think it's okay that it would come before us to be taken seriously. Even moreso, that there would be so many people in the Wizengamot interested in seeing it pass through to law.

Anyone who would say that it's all just for the safety of the people is a downright liar. This is ridiculous, we aren't in the stone age anymore.

The healers managed to pull him back, and (here's the good news; I know it doesn't seem like I'm giving much) his fever finally broke afterwards. They are expecting him to make a full recovery. IN DEPTH: Amelia, right off the bat, is the type of person that you see and immediately think 'oh hey, she looks like she knows what she's doing'--and the truth is, she probably does. This works well for her, because she loves to take care of people and help them out with their problems. SOCIAL STATUS: With her Wizengamot salary, there is no issue with Amelia supporting herself and Mara more than comfortably.
HISTORY: Being the oldest of three children born to Joshua and Mary Bones, Amelia Susan was, she believes, put into that position for a definite reason. Becoming an older sister twice over (to lovely, if rowdy boys Jonathan and Edgar) nurtured her instinctive mothering and caring nature from a very early age. When she was young, Amelia would spend her time playing with and helping her mother take care of her brothers more often than going out and playing with her friends. She thought it was fabulous that she had people to take care of and loved every second of it (sans Edgar's hair-pulling stage and Jonathon's terrible two's).
Despite making many friends within her new house of Hufflepuff, it was a difficult transition for the young girl when she had to leave her brothers to pursue her magical education at Hogwarts. She loved the studies and her peers and her professors, but that didn't stop her from being extremely relieved when Jonathan could join her at school and sate a bit of her longing for her siblings. It was during this time that she grew a lot closer to this brother, although her affection for her baby Eddie-bear back at home did not diminish in the very least. In the years after which she left Hogwarts to go explore the world on her own, she was allowed to spend a lot of time alone at home babysitting him and adopted him, in a sense, more as her child than her brother. Even as he has grown into the man that he is today, and has grown into more of a brother figure for her, Amelia still feels compelled to protect and take care of Edgar and she lets him know frequently that she'll always be there for him when he needs her.
Just from looking at her family history, you can see why Amelia has ended up where she is today. One half of her family being deeply rooted in Magical Law Enforcement and the other half being deeply rooted in International Magical Relations, she was bound to be a Ministry girl from the moment that she stepped outside of the womb. The only question was, (and it was a highly heated debate that flavored each major holiday dinner conversation) which department would she end up in?
Going with the Bones legacy, Amelia got a job right out of Hogwarts in the offices of the Wizengamot Administration Services, hoping to someday be on the esteemed panel of witches and wizards herself. She started off as a Magical Law Student, studying the principles and procedures of all the law for several years before she was promoted into a small desk job working arranging the affairs of the International Confederation of Wizards British Seats. Her superiors knew that wasn't where she wanted to be, however, and they weren't blind to the promise that she was displaying, so on her 27th birthday she got the present of being moved back into the Wizengamot Administration Services office, but not just as a student this time-they made her an aide to the whole panel, a position in which she could soak up all the knowledge and know-how and make all the connections that she needed to someday be promoted to a seat on the Wizengamot herself (a day that came just under a year later, as it turns out).
Amelia set out immediately with a plan to take the Wizarding World by storm. She wanted to change the old-fashioned and conservative views of the largely blood supremacist Wizengamot and bring justice to the Muggleborns and halfbloods that had been all but scarce in the past. With allies like her political activist cousin Melinda, Amelia became even more outspoken than before on such subjects, a trait which (unbeknowst to her) just two years earlier cost her the whole of her relationship with Braith Selwyn.
Braith was a man that for a long time Amelia was certain she wouldn't be able to get over. Their relationship had been quite serious by the time he decided to suddenly break it off and she had no idea what to think or what to do with her life from that point. She did eventually move on, date another couple Ministry men, but it wasn't until Amelia started to notice Auror Berkeley Doge that she was able to rediscover what she had lost with Braith. Contrary to popular belief within the Ministry walls, when Berk and Amelia decided to elope a mere few weeks after they began to date, they were quite madly in love. And no matter what Dolores Umbridge whispers around the office, Amelia's convinced that they're going to be together and happy for a very long time--especially with a baby on the way.
