Seriously, though. Girl just has so. Much. Love. I mean, she is just as passionate about holding a grudge (see also: Teegan) but for whatever reason, Grimm!Gertie just has soooooo many people she adores (which is making her Christmas Presents post a real bitch, lemme tell you) and that combined with her complete inability to compromise- especially in regard to her relationships with others- means that basically I have no idea how she is ever going to sustain a monogamous relationship without the jealousy driving everyone mad. Especially given the way she is romantically attracted to emotionally crippled boys with abandonment issues (and seriously, gurl, stop trying to play fixer-upper as a style of relationship! UNHEALTHY! But she can't help it, it's an outgrowth of the Project thing, she sees someone broken and just needs to fix them, and with emotionally crippled boys with abandonment issues the obvious fix is to love them and not abandon them and then that gets all tangled up with the fact that she's also sort of a slut and oh my GOD, Gertie.)

And seriously she loves Holden SO MUCH and just wants to make him smile all the time and even maybe get married someday (gasp, shock, Gertie is so not a Marry Me girl, she is a serial monogamist, not a lifetime commitment type,) and make vows about forever and never, ever leave him because he is her Holden. BUT AT THE SAME TIME she loves Glen so much too and as much as she denies it and claims that yes they have slept together and yes she loves him but that does not mean it is romantic love and they are two separate spheres and blah blah blah, and as much as all of that is true, part of her does have romantic feelings for him, or at least very easily could. And plus Glen is ~so misundastood~ which sets off her Let Me Fix It stuff even more than Holden's issues do and ahh. Ahh. She is so torn between her love for and relationship with Holden, and her love for Glen plus the knowledge that she is EXACTLY the type of girl he ought to be with and she'd be happy that way, too. All while trying to maintain a friendship with the latter because she obviously cannot Abandon Him, without hurting the former.

And seriously this is all going to end in tears in one way or another.

And also genuinely all she wants is for everyone to be happy and loved on Christmas and these boys are MAKING THAT DIFFICULT TO ACHIEVE and why can't they just be friends and understand that she has enough love to go arooooound?

And then there is the fact that she is a huge fucking hypocrite because if Holden even glanced at another girl she would have a melt down. Much as I love her I cannot even pretend differently. She is a jealous little em-effer and while it seems totally reasonable to her to want her Emotionally Crippled boyfriend to be buddy-buddy with both her exceedingly rich, exceedingly good-looking former fuckbuddy and also her very pretty ex whom she now treats more or less as a brother, it also seems totally reasonable to her to feel homicidal every time Holden says hi to Teegan, or any pretty girl for that matter. Which...I'll give her a pass on the Teegan thing since she has her Snow Queen issues and you probably would too, but everyone else..yeah, she's just a possessive little hypocrite who secretly and very unattractively wants everyone to love her best. No matter what she says. And she can keep that to a dull roar most of the time, but add Holden to the picture and she totally loses her rationality (which I guess means she really does feel much differently about Holden than she does about her other boys, because she could really care LESS about Glen, or Seb, and other girls, as long as they keep a special place in their hearts for her and also the Other Girl In Question is not Teegan, which...is going to be fun when Seb hooks up with her for real, is all I can say.)


And in conclusion I think someone should complete the circle by picking up a Pen Badgley flavoured character, only he should be the ex with whom Gertie is on BAD terms. The end.
