This is the extraordinary Gillian Jacobs in Gardens of the Night. You probably have not heard of Gardens of the Night, and that is ok, but now that you have...look. It's a difficult movie to watch. Really, really difficult. It deals with hard stuff- like the kidnapping of two children by a very strange middle-aged man and his young paedophilic sidekick and their subsequent descent into Stockholm Syndrome. And that's the EASY half of the movie. But. But. Have you ever had a movie or a book or a song get inside you and change the fabric of your being in the most subtle of ways? I have, and for me, Gardens of the Night is that movie. It absolutely tore me apart and then it sewed me back up. So I recommend it. And Ms Jacobs is just luminous in it, and in general.
