William Shadows was born and raised in Crescentville, Kentucky. His father Johnny Shadows owned a small dinner called Flights, Anya Cole, William’s mother worked there part time until her and Johnny married in the spring of ‘63; Anya was only 18 and Johnny was 22. Her parents hated Johnny at first but they could tell the two loved each other. They were married for 6 years before they had their first child, a boy they named William. William was 3 when they had another child, a daughter they named Liberty. The Shadows family was complete with two children and they were happy. But happiness would always be short lived for the men in the Shadows family. Liberty Lee, was 4 years old when she was abducted. The chief of Crescentville and Johnny were high school friends, and promised to find Libby. Three years to the day, chief Thomas Swan found little Liberty Lee Shadows, but it was too late for her. She was already dead.
Chief Swan blamed himself. Anya was heart broken and committed suicide four hours later, after hearing the news she couldn’t bare to live any longer. Johnny told Tom he wasn’t mad at him. Truthfully, Johnny wasn’t mad at him, he was mad at him self. He packed up and moved out of town. He couldn’t live in the place where he’d lost so much. He moved to Lexington, Kentucky. There he stared a new life. He never married again, but he did date. William grew up just fine with out his mother. But he was never really the same. He, like many other people in Crescentville, wanted to know how Libby died. They wanted to know who could be so heartless? They never found the killer. Johnny and William were making a good life for them selves. William had only 3 more years until he graduated high school and was planning to go into law school. It was the summer of his Freshman year when the bad news came. Chief Tomas Swan was dead. Murdered just like Libby.
Johnny didn’t really want to go back to Crescentville, it was his son that forced him to go back. William wanted to see his child hood home, he wanted to see the friends that he had left behind. Of course he never thought he’d fall in love. Johnny and William moved back to Crescentville, where William would finish high school. Mrs. Swan and her daughter Ellie were happy to have the Shadows back in town. However, Johnny tired avoid his old home and the dinner where he first met Anya. The funeral was huge. The whole town had been shut down and everyone came. It was here that William first laid eyes on Ellie Swan.
Ellie Swan had lived her whole life in Crescentville, Kentucky in the shadow of the deaths of so many, one being her father. Ellie was born to Tom and Carol Swan on December 3rd 1969. She was an only child and loved it. She did get lonely sometimes, mainly when her parents were too busy with her job over seeing the dinner and her father being the chief. But some how Ellie managed to keep her self busy. She was 12 when her father was murdered. She, and her Uncle Mike were the only two that new what he was up to. Though the Shadow family had left, Chief Tom Swan hadn’t stopped looking for the man who had killed Liberty Lee Shadows. It wasn’t just a coincident that he was murdered the same way she was. Her Uncle took over the police department, the same time the Davalos family moved to town, and around the same time Johnny and his son moved back for the funeral of her father.
Ellie and William only talked the once, at the funeral, but they had fillings for each other. They didn’t start dating until Junior year of high school. Both sides of the family were happy with the two being together. Of course, Johnny thought it was just a high school crush. But there was something poetic about it. Johnny and Ellie’s father were best friends. It hurt them all, that Tom wasn’t here. Senior year came. And it was then Ellie asked William what he wanted. He dropped to one knee the same day and asked her to marry him. The entire school was shocked, family as well. Ellie and William were 18 years old when she found out she was pregnant. She had just graduated from high school, and they were making plans to get married. April 24th 1992, two beautiful baby girls were born. William decided to name them after his mother, Fiona Lee and Isabelle Liberty Shadows.
Ellie and William got married two years after their daughters were born. The first two years of their lives everything was crazy and they were just trying to find themselves as a young couple. They were married for 10 years before Ellie just packed her things and left. No one knew why, or even where she was going. The town prayed she wasn’t going to end up like many of the other victims. But she wasn’t. Ellie was in New York, living the life she truly wanted. William had help from Esmer Davalos. Her daughter and son had passed away, leaving her to take care of their children who were around Fiona and Isabelle’s age. Isabelle, Fiona, and the Davalos Children grew up together, played together, and had fun.
High school. The girls are in high school. The years flew by and now Fiona and Belle (as she likes to be called) are seniors at Farmonut High School. Everything is going good, until another murder occurs.
