She caught him fighting or, rather, she discovered that he'd been fighting when she walked into the apartment one evening only to see blood on the carpet and on one wall heading back towards Dex's room. She was instinctly ready for a battle, the ring glowing green as the groceries fell to the floor forgotten. Lanterns had been killed in their own homes before--Mo knew well the story of her Aunt Katma and how she had been sliced to ribbons in her own kitchen--and Mo felt her chest grow tight as she made her way towards the room, ready to retaliate against whatever it was that she found when...
...she turned the corner and saw Dex, bloodied but very clearly alive. Her brain had imagined so many different scenes than the one standing before her. She expected carnage, body parts, death. But Dex wasn't dead or dismembered. Just injured. Her readied fist dropped and she breathed an obvious sigh of relief.

And then proceeded to kiss every part of his face that wasn't bleeding.

"I thought I'd find you dead and I couldn't...I couldn't handle it. I care about you, Dex..."

To her surprise he didn't laugh, didn't pull away, didn't run. Instead, he grinned before shutting her up with a kiss.

"Knew it."

Matt/Tina Part 1

Bruce had told her about her brother Patrick, a doctor residing in Chicago. At first she didn't want to meet him. The story Bruce had told certainly made it clear that the young man wanted nothing to do with anything related to the Gotham side of the family, but after a time she couldn't stop thinking about it. A brother, close to her own age, who like her had been born not out of love but out of betrayal. Tina made the arrangements and flew to the Windy City to try to get some answers to her questions.

It was perhaps not the right way of going about it, but Tina got an appointment with Dr. Patrick Gotham. The medical portion of the visit went very well. Patrick was a kind, compassionate doctor, but the family part of things went less well. He told her it was nice to meet her, but that he had no desire to ever get to know the child of the whore who ruined his life even before it had begun. His words were harsh and though she understood, she was still in tears as she left his office...promptly plowing into a tall, dark-haired man, duster-clad. She bounced back hard, landing fat on her ass.

"Hey, you okay?" The man bent down and offered a hand. Tina took it.

"Yes. No. No." The slight tears she'd been crying turned into a full-on sob as he helped her off the floor. He sat her down in a nearby chair and tried to get her to calm down, asking her what was wrong. She couldn't help herself; she told him about her parents and about Patrick, what he said and how lost she felt. It didn't talk long before she stopped crying, but Matt patiently sat with her, listening without judgment. Something about his eyes seemed to say that he understood.

"You know what? You need a drink. Let me buy you one. I know this great place." Matt, as he said his name was, smiled at her. His smile, slightly crooked and full of light, automatically made her feel better. Tina found herself nodding in agreement and the pair made their way to Mac's.

Matt/Tina Part 2

She didn't have any skill for magic and Matt's stubbornness pissed her off to no end, but Tina found herself spending more and more time in Chicago. Matt made her laugh, made her feel safe, and made her happy. Lunch at Mac's became dinner at Mac's, became overnights, became one morning Tina just didn't go back to New York. She quit X-Force, opened up a garage, and started doing tech support occasionally for the Midnight Sons. Tina was surprisingly useful when it came to dealing with vampires and rogue werewolves, her diamond form coming in handy though she was careful not to intrude too much.

One night she made it home to Demonreach to find it seemingly empty of living beings save for Whisper who whined at her.

"What's up, Puppyness?" She knelt down and noticed the hellhound's collar seemed a little weird. "Did Matt take you for a walk again with that evil leash?" Tina started to fuss with the collar only to find something odd attached near the tags. A ring.

"What the..." It wasn't a fancy ring. It was small and perfect. She removed it from the collar and held it in her hand, looking at it curiously, half wondering what Whisper had been up to to acquire the ring when Matt materialized out of nowhere and as he did, Whisper grinned a doggy grin.

"Whisper and I were thinking we could use another Walker in the house," he said, a grin spread wide on his face. Tina slowly stood up, tears in her eyes.

"Well, it looks like you guys just got one."

Matt/Tina Part 3

The three little children had watched their parents killed by demons and while Grace, the youngest, was so small she wasn't aware of what had happened, her brother Michael and sister Claire did. They weren't doing so well in foster care as a result. The whole situation broke Tina's heart. She'd been there when the Sons responded to the demon attack, had held the little ones at her side while Lynch and the others dealt with the carnage and at first she'd agreed that the kids were better off with a new family completely removed from anything involving the night they lost their parents.

But six months later she still had sleepless nights over those kids and an idea began to form. She and Matt had had trouble trying to have their own children. They'd both had such rough childhoods themselves...

Grace, Michael, and Claire Walker may not have come from their parents' bodies but they were very much their children. Claire was the stubborn one with a natural affinity for magic and trouble. Michael loved cars and machines and Grace was somewhere in between.

Whisper was the happiest hellhound in the world.
