Being drugged could probably excuse the explicit sexual harrassment of a friend and colleague.
Other girls, with lesser boyfriends, might even be excused for the attempted infidelity.
But this was practically treason. A logical endangerment of the Work. And worse, it was hurting Andrew.

Gio sat in the bed she'd been morosely put to as the doctor looked her over. She still found foreign doctors humiliating and inappropriate, but what pride could really be left after what she'd done?

She wondered how Sengai had explained to him what happened. It occurs to her that he might have left all but the most essential points to her.

Maybe a better girlfriend would keep her mouth shut to avoid hurting him, but she couldn't lie to Andrew.

Giovanna stood, plaited pigtails blowing in the breeze, and sighed loudly. Father had said that it was Very Important to make Andrew Summers feel welcome.
So she had made sure to invite him for the relay races they were doing in the little playground, which was being reconstructed after all the fighting.

But he had said 'No, thank you.' He was reading a book. Not even a book with fencing in it. Just a regular book.

Well. That was it. You couldn't ask a girl to try to reason with a boy who preferred a regular book to a good relay race. So she'd go make sure her team won that, and check on him later just to make sure he wasn't feeling unwelcome or anything.

Occasionally Gio.

2. How old are you? When is your birthday?
17. May 30

3. Where were you born? Where do you live now? Are you patriotic?
I was born in space. I've lived in Genosha since I was eight, and Very.

4. Who are/were your parents? (Names, occupations, personalities, etc.)

Paris Bennet (Not how his name started, but we like it this way) and Carmella Unuscione.
They're soldiers. Good soldiers.

6. What is your occupation?
I've been just recently finishing my studies and am now a sort of foreign envoy, in a basically support capacity for Andrew.

7. How tall are you? How much do you weigh?
5'6", 132 pounds.

8. What color is your hair? What color are your eyes?
My hair's pretty dark. My eyes are blue. Except when they're green.

9. What is your race?
Homo sapiens superior. Or Southern European, if you mean the one that doesn't matter.

10. To which social class do you belong?
My paternal grandparents were Third Estate. My maternal grandfather was a professional wrestler and petty thug. You do the math.

11. Do you consider yourself to be attractive? Do others?
I'm not ugly per se. And...well, apparently so.

12. What kind of facial expression do you commonly wear (dour glare, wry smile, etc)?
I don't practice them in front of a mirror or anything. Although from what I have seen, my smile makes me look a little bit horsefaced.

21. Do you use body language?
My mother was born in Italy. That pretty much covers that.

22. Do you have a commonly used saying?
Besides the litany of frequently forgotten things? Not really.

Childhood

23. What is your earliest memory? My earliest memories were some of Father's. Storytime got creative when I was little.

24. How much schooling have you had? Did you enjoy it?
Twelve years in one form or another. Yes.

25. What do you consider the most important event of your life so far?
Settling in Genosha.

32. What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Ask me again when we've won.

33. What is your greatest regret?
Ahead of me, I'm sure.

34. What is the most embarrassing or shameful thing ever to happen to you? Hard to say.

35. Do you have any secrets? If so, what are they?
Mine.

36. Have you ever traveled outside of your country? If so, to where?
We moved around a lot when I was small. Now I'm in New York.

Beliefs

39. What is your alignment?
My what?

40. Are you basically optimistic or pessimistic?
Pessimistic, although listening to Andrew can make that challenging.

41. Do you believe in a god? If so, which one and why?
It's possible there's one who's a bit more serious than the kind you hear about, but if so, He clearly isn't going to fix things Himself.

42. Do you believe in an afterlife?
I don't think it's something that can be relied on.

43. What is your greatest fear?
Making my father ashamed of me.

44. What makes you angry? Sad? Happy? Why?
The state of the world, more of the state of the world, and Andrew.

45. Do you think people are basically good or basically evil?
Depends on the people.

46. What are your views on politics? Religion? Sex?
Frustrating, frequently misapplied, and not something I plan to rush too much, respectively.

47. What are your views on gambling, lying, theft, and killing?
Stupid, wrong, very wrong, and not to be undertaken lightly, respectively.

48. How far will you go to defend your beliefs?
I never really understand what is meant by this question.

49. How much do you value money?
It's nice when it can be used to get something useful done.

50. In your opinion, what is the most evil thing any human being could do?
I'm sure my imagination would just be too limiting for that.

51. Do you believe in self-sacrifice for the greater good?
Of course.

52. Do you believe in the existence of soul mates and/or true love?
Possibly

53. Are you superstitious?
No

54. How much do you respect the beliefs and opinions of others?
I can acknowledge a valid point <s>when it's Andrew's</s>

55. How honest are you about your thoughts and feelings?
Reasonably, although I can withhold information for some time.

56. Do you have any biases or prejudices?
Humans scare me.

Dealing With Others

57. Who is the most important person in your life, and why?
My parents.

58. Who is the person you respect the most? Despise the most? Why?
Magneto, for the obvious reasons. Then there's the tie between the majority of human politicians and Apocalypse.

59. Do you have a significant other? Who?
Andrew and I are going to try dating.

60. Do you have a lot of friends? Who is your best friend?
I have a few, though I haven't seen any but Andrew in a while.

61. How do you relate to members of the same race? Class? Sex?
I am only really used to the company of other mutants, although other distinctions aren't taht important. I get along reasonably okay with other girls.

62. How do you relate to members of a different race? Class? Sex?
I'm not at my most comfortable with humans. As to different classes, my best friend / new boyfriend is the de facto prince of Genosha, so I apparently manage all right there.

63. Have you ever been in love? If so, describe what happened.
Ask me later when we've sorted this out.

64. What do you look for in a potential lover?
It isn't as if I set out a list to go looking for.

65. How close are you to your family?
Very.

66. Do you want a marriage, family, and/or children?
I'm not sure. My parents certainly managed not to let it get in the way of the Cause.

67. Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict?
I can avoid it if I absolutely have to. I'm being very good lately.

68. Are you a listener or a talker?
I can do both. Sometimes even at the same time.

69. How long does it usually take for you to trust others?
It depends.

70. Do you hold grudges?
Oh, yes.

71. Do you tend to take on leadership roles in social situations?
No.

72. Do you like interacting with large groups of people?
At home moreso than here.

73.
Father came home just before bedtime, and although Giovanna might be getting a little old for bedtime stories, she wanted this one. "Another emergency, Father?" There were so many lately.

"There certainly was," Paris Bennet said as he tucked his daughter in. "A princess captured and controlled by a witch."

A concerned look. "Did you set the witch's soul on fire?" Giovanna asked earnestly. She sure hoped so. It was always too bad, of course, when mutants had to hurt other mutants...just not as bad as letting bad people get away with it.

An approving smile. "As best I was able, ma petite. We did what we could. And the 'princess' is safe. She may join the Cause."

"That's good." A pause for thought. "Is He happy? A litle happy, anyway?"

"Yes, Giovanna. He is fairly happy," another smile, quickly returned. "Now you must go to sleep."

"Yes, Father. Good night."

Another dawn. Another two glasses, ice water and apple juice, for each of them. Another practice session. Since the days she was in plaited pigtails, only the intensity of the workout has changed. That and the necessity of maintaining her psychic defenses. Paris Bennet made it clear that if his daughter wanted the privacy appropriate to her age, she would have to keep good mental shields up during these sessions, because a real opponent would not respect anything. The countless little embarrassments which would result from slipping up were quite a motivator to work on it.

And finally, as the swords are put away, she's standing near-exhausted, but standing straight.

"Well done, Giovanna," he gives her an encouraging nod. "Breakfast in half an hour."
"See you then, Father."

Giovanna got up at dawn, as usual. After the standard workout with Father and breakfast, she washed up and gathered her books. Her eyes lingered a little on her face in the mirror as she put on lip gloss. Not that how she looked mattered at all, of course. There were much more important things with which to concern themselves. Much.

Giovanna stood holding the books, let it all build up, communicated to Father where she would be, finally let herself flare up, vanish... and appear outside Andrew's door, within clear sight of the usual security measures.

She knocked politely.
