caiden patrick taylor

--> caiden patrick taylor was born to a loving family on october 16, 1991 in dublin, ireland. his parents, martin and kathleen taylor proudly announced their son in all of their irish glory and soon, every relative had to come and see the newest addition to the taylor family. it was said that caiden started talking his own secret language right out of the womb, and unlike other babies that would be crying, caiden would be in his crib speaking gibberish to anything and anyone that would listen. his stuffed teddy bear was his favourite audience. and even though no one could hear it, it was as if caiden had special conversations with the object that no one would ever be able to translate. it was then and there that his parents knew that they were going to be in trouble with how much caiden talked. and from then on out, they were seemingly right.

--> as a child, caiden spent most of his time outdoors, playing soccer. he was on his hometown's soccer team and his dad basically went to every single one of his games. he would spend hours upon hours with his father, playing the field like a true pro. his dad wasn't the best player around, but when he was with him, caiden felt as if he escaped from the reality of every day life and was able to just do what he thought he did best - play soccer. his best and most fond are memories of his dad playing goalie for him and not being able to block the ball from going into the cross-cross net. caiden's dream for so long was to play soccer on the expansive fields of green, kicking the ball with other players that he could honestly call family, and last but not least, win a cup that would tell the world that he was amongst a team of champions. this dream slipped from his fingers and crashed to the floor when his father was rushed to the emergency room one cold day, and furthermore, was shattered like broken glass when his father died of heart conditions only a week or so later. after his father's sudden death, caiden became a shell, not speaking to anyone and refusing to have anything to do with soccer. it was as if the loss of his father had put an end to that era, and for awhile, caiden firmly believed that he would never go back to it.

--> it was then that caiden turned to writing. it was a new way of expressing himself with words that he never thought he'd be able to pull from his own body. whether it was short memoirs or poems or keeping up a journal, caiden felt now that his best audience were the individuals that would never read his writing. eventually, these words combined with melodies and he was writing songs. upon realization that these words needed something more than just thought up melodies, caiden bought himself a guitar from the nearest vender and taught himself how to play. note by note, he eventually matched up the songs with something that went with it, denying that he could sing a tune in the least bit. the truth was though, caiden was actually very good at what he did but he refused to sing in front of anyone in fear that he'd be made fun of or ridiculed for his hidden talent. it was there that he found his passion for music, all of those days cooped up in his room, just exploring all kinds of emotions with his guitar helped him to heal and to find some kind of solace in a world that just didn't seem fair.

--> because of his refusing to come out and face the world, his mother, kathleen, decided that at the tender age of fourteen that it would be good for them to move out of ireland and go to a place that wasn't haunted with the memories of things that they'd never get back. caiden put up a fight, refusing to leave his father behind in their home country. everything that he had ever known had been in dublin and now that his mother had decided that they needed to start anew, caiden just wasn't having it. after a failed attempt at running away to his nana's farm, caiden was packed up with the rest of their belongings (and memories) and off to the united states it was. caiden was not a happy camper for the first however many months that they were in new york city. all of the bustling around was not his cup of tea and he had no idea how to adapt to that. it was then that his mother, along with his sister kaleigh - who was then at a tender age of 2, decided that they needed to move to somewhere less city-like. salt lake city it was. and caiden couldn't have been any less thrilled.

--> west high became his school of choice and soon, he was thrown head first into the high school life. when approached and asked if he was any good at soccer, caiden's initial reaction was to say no. there was no way that he could play soccer without his father there and he just didn't feel the passion for it anymore. one day, however, while standing at the glass doors of the back of the building, caiden saw the team playing and that adrenaline rush that he had been void of for however many years that it had been since he had played was back. soon, he was playing again, even though the memories of his father almost pushed him to insanity at one point or another. it was when the team got into the semi-finals that he saw his dad standing there at the mouth of the goal post with a thumbs up. he had finally risen to his father's standards and it was then and there that he knew that he had to push forward no matter what it took. for his father. and he knew that he was more than capable of making both him and his mother proud, no matter how long that took. he did find, however, that something was missing in his life and when he figured out what it was, it caused a shock like a lightening bolt had hit his entire body.

--> music found it's way back into caiden's life when a job opportunity literally fell right into his lap. he quickly made a demo cd for the radio station and got to work learning about the switchboard, the meaning of pots, how to use the microphone, and simple programs like cool edit and prophet as well as shortcut wound their way into his every day life. without even a backwards glance, he was offered a slot on the student-run radio station and he was more than thrilled. being on the radio helped him to get his voice back out to everyone and aside from that, he was surrounded by music, which he hated to admit, saved him in more ways than just one.

madia - caiden's best friend in the entire world. she's the one who helped him get out of the depression that had been plaguing him since his father's death and the break-up with his ex gf. and with their combined interests, it was almost evitable that they would hit it off. through this, they found themselves developing feelings for one another, which of course, led to them getting together at the end of january of 2008. they know one another better than anyone ins the world and because of that, they are very comfortable with one another
makenzie - one of the first people that caiden met when he came to the us in july of 2006. she lives on his street and was basically introduced to caiden in the first week of him moving there to help show him the ropes. in september, they started dating officially and were basically inseparable until january of 2008 when she broke his heart. caiden gets very defensive when her name is mentioned and basically stops talking when anyone mentions her name. many people believe that it's because he still has feelings for her, but caiden will stop at nothing to prove otherwise.
nathen - a friend of caiden's
sheffield - his neighbour, almost like a big brother that he's never had. caiden is able to look past his attitude and actually get along with him whilst everyone else seemingly thinks that he's stuck up and unmanagable.
