As there are many bookworms roaming the halls of Hogwarts, this post will hold a list of books that the students can talk about. What you'll find here is the basics and, of course, you can add more through your interactions. Just be sure to add any information to these books in the comments!

When posting another book, please place it in this format:

F.A.Q

1] How do we know what's going on outside of Hogwarts?
-->Very easy. Your lovely mods will be posting up a Daily Prophet (though, don't expect it to be daily) that will inform the characters about what's happening in the outside world.

2] Where are we in the school year?
-->This is real time, so if it's February 19th in the real world (your world), then it's February 19th in their world.

3] I go to school and have enough homework... Do we have to do any here?
-->This is a two part question. Sometimes when we have players who have a professor as a character, they will assign homework that your character must do. In that case, it's your character's choice. However, the mods might also randomly assign homework that you as a player will have to complete. This homework isn't supposed to be easy, it's supposed to challenge you to think deep about your character.

4] I really disagree with what a character/mod/player is doing. How to I complain without everybody labeling me as a bitch?
-->Every week or so, we will be putting out a post where you can reply anonymously to. In this post, you can complain or praise or offer suggestions until you burst. Just please don't be too rude; this is for constructive criticism more than anything else. If you're confused about this, ask the mods about what you want to say. Whatever it is will be in confidence and we will not tell anybody that it was you.

Did you know...

The British don't use "a" - "an" - or "the" while speaking?
U.S.-> I go to a/the university.
U.K.-> I go to university.
[You don't have to follow this. All instances cannot leave out these words, but if you find that it might sound better, go for it.]

General Rules
1-We'll cover the basics here. No godmoding, no mary-sue-ing, no hitting, no punching, no OOC drama, and no stealing. If it's not nice and is going to make everyone upset, don't do it. Unless it's a spify plot point that you have already discussed with the mods.

2-This is an AU, and thus we enjoy original takes on things. However, if it seems OOC, clear it with a mod. Lucius adopting cute fluffy kittens and Slughorn learning how to tap dance are not things we want to see unless there's a Confundus charm involved. Then it's funny.

3-Please keep in mind that while all forms of pairings are allowed (slash, het, femslash), not all characters are going to be gay. And, in the year this RPG takes place, gay and lesbians were not overly wide-spread. We don't want it overrun with flaming gay activists who flirt with every person of their gender. Keep it realistic.

4-We have rules on our PBs. We don't want to see any divas on here. If your character acts like one, you can still find a good PB who isn't Britney Spears or Jessica Simpson. We're not ultra-picky on it, but if the entire group of players don't have to google their name, it's probably not a good choice.

5-This is an AU, so we do expect things to both be fun and serious. But, this is not a place for the Drama Llama. We don't mind getting bitchy to clear through a few drama starters, but we don't like it. Please don't make us get mean. Drama and Angst IN the game is good, but not outside the game. If Lucius and Narcissa are supposed to be in love in the game, but their players have problems outside the game, then we better not see that reflect on Lucius and Narcissa's relationship. It's not fair to the characters.

6-These rules are subject to be changed at any time! But we're nice mods and will let all the players know if we feel the need to change one.

Main Community Rules
1-The community is to play out specific scenarios. Any "I'm bored" posts should simply go in a character's journal; the community is used to play and display plot-related posts. Posts in the community should be played out in third person, past tense.

2-Character communications may also go here. Owls and letters sent from one character to another should be posted up here. Teachers may occasionally may make announcements on the community, too.

Out Of Character Community Rules
1-The OOC community can be used both for plotting purposes and random chatter.

2-Plot-related posts should be friends-locked. (If we get people who watch us, what fun is it if they know what we're plotting?)

Welcome to Fortuna Major, a MWPP AU RPG (oh Merlin, that's a lot of acronyms)! Before you decide to apply, be sure to check out our rules, our character list, and our Play-By list. Also, keep in mind that this is an *AU* RPG, and we highly encourage you to change your character around as much as you'd like. If you're looking for somewhere to start, here are some basic ideas:

> Change House. This simple change can actually change a lot within the story. If Sirius was in Slytherin, would he still be friends with James, Peter, and Remus? It can change relationships as well as personality.

> Change History. What if Remus had never become a werewolf? That could mean the Marauders never became animagi, and that changes a *lot!*

> Change Relationships. This is shown in the characterization of Lily: Lily never has that massive fight with Severus, and remains his friend through Hogwarts (and beyond~~!). This little change has affected other huge relationships in her life, especially her relationship with James (and consequently, will lead to no baby Harry, which is just A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT~~~)

Also remember that when describing your character's personality, be sure to include their faults, then follow through. Not all characters can be brilliant at dueling, or have witty comebacks, or be loved by everyone. Find vices and faults within your character. It makes for a much more realistic and interesting game!

Finally, feel free to expand in your application as much as you'd like. There are no limits--we want to know as much about your character as possible, especially because this is an Alternate Universe!
