Sasakura Ryuu is a world-renown bartender. He had been working a simple job at the bar Lapin, before (while he was in the middle of making a drink) he was sucked into Traverse Town.

Now Sasakura is stuck in this strange town, full of even stranger people. He got employment at the local cafe as a bartender/waiter/busboy/errand boy. Mostly bartender though. He always works closing shift there. He also has an apprentice named Mikage.

Sasakura is disturbed by Traverse Town, mostly by the heartless and moogles, but the entire town makes him uncomfortable. He's gotten better about coping, but he does seem to start loosing his touch as a drink-maker if the day has been too trying.

On the other hand, he is fascinated by the people who live in Traverse. He also (after being told off by L/Ryuuzaki) decided to be the unspoken drinking-age enforcer in town. He goes by the drinking ages from where people come from, and makes sure people do not get drunk at his bar.

He doesn't always succeed though, on two occasions people have gotten drunk on his watch.

Still, he's known for making all sorts of non-alcoholic wonders for the citizens of Traverse Town.
