| Bio: | Nasira was born Nasira Ibnat-Eyad in Al-Qurain, Kuwait on planet Earth. Her mother, D'Mali, was an Orion slave, sold to an Earth man named Eyad Qurainiyyun. Over the next two years, D'Mali eventually convinced her master to free her and to marry her. D'Mali adopted the Muslim religion of her new husband and they had three children, two boys and girl.
The girl, Nasira, growing up with two older brothers in a somewhat stifling religious atmosphere, latched onto the one of the only outlets permitted to her: school. Reading and studying gave her excuses to avoid her family and (sometimes) skip prayer.
As her father had the monetary means, Nasira was given the choice of any university she wished. So, after secondary school, she attended Johns Hopkins University in the United States to pursue a career in Medical Science, majoring in Clinical Laboratory Science. She graduated with a Masters in Clinical Xenobiology at 24.
Her knowledge of Xenobiology and its practical uses was of interest to Starfleet, and they continued to call and write to her until she finally accepted later that year. After graduation from Starfleet Academy at the age of 28, Narisa became Ensign Narisa, Secondary Medical Officer of the USS Bluebird, a small exploration vessel that needed another physician. She was primarily in charge of the non-human crew, and any beings they came across in their exploration that were in need of assistance.
Her second year aboard the Bluebird, shortly after returning from a deep exploration mission, Narisa was put on trial for conspiracy to commit Mutiny. Though the court found her not guilty, they did decide she was a danger to the crew of the Bluebird. She was demoted to Head of Nursing Staff and reassigned to a larger vessel, the USS Anubis, where "she would have constant supervision." |
