"Maybe I should just leave!"

Brier looks up from the letter and frowns, he doesn't want to dismiss Sarah's statement but he knows that her emotions are bubbling over right now. It hasn't been an easy week, all of the kids have been passing around the same cold and it seems as if Sarah has stressed herself to the limit if her sniffles are any indication.

"I don't think that's a good idea Sarah," he says slowly, his usual tone in explaining things. He doesn't need her freaking out more right now, this letter is surprising enough. "Running away isn't an option."

"They want me to answer for stealing magic!" Her tears make him feel uncomfortable, as they always did. "I'm a pureblood!"

"I know, this has to be a mistake okay? I will talk to Dolores in the morning, it's probably just a filing error. You're not going anywhere okay? I won't let that happen." He's fairly certain about that. Even though their office has always been toeing the line of political influences, Brier just knows they've got the truth on their side and that will prevail. "If things don't work out, we'll make a plan. You're not going anywhere without us."

"Have you ever thought about going back to quidditch?"

Her voice catches him in the middle of a deep thought and he nearly drops the toy broomstick he'd been holding up at eye level for inspection. These toys were made for general use, but when it came to his son there was no way he was going to take safety for granted.

"What do you mean? It's been two years, everyone has moved on. I could be living on Jupiter for all they care." Him playing quidditch hasn't really been a topic in awhile, but Carys brings it up now and then. Especially now, she's been benched again for a case of the pregnancy. (Not his fault, he claims, she's the one who ordered the babysitter and demanded a night together)

He can feel her half-glare, half-eyeroll (it's an impressive feat) and he shrugs it off, placing the broom in the middle of the wrapping paper and pulling out his wand. "I can coach kids. I've been working with Thomas too. It's not a big deal. I like being a dad. And I don't like the idea of nannies. Stop looking at me like that. This has worked out pretty well, don't you think? Now what?" he asks when her silence has gone on too long and he turns to look at her.

Drake is caught off guard by the kiss and he refuses to give in for a long moment but Carys is stubborn and waits until he finally does. And then she slaps his shoulder. "Stop being so perfect alright, all the other quidditch moms are going to be jealous," she pretends to chide him, a small amount of pride in her voice as she settles in next to him, motioning for him to finish wrapping the gifts he was working on.
