Is this real life, is this just fantasy? (meme prompt 5, scene 20) [25 Jan 2012|02:02pm]
Since becoming a host for an aspect of the Predator entity, Heather had certainly noticed that she'd begun to take more of an interest in the love lives of others (along with developing a frightening love for romantic comedies), along with becoming increasingly sensative to the love-related desires of those around here.

Yes, she was aware of much more than she really wanted to know, but she was aware of her own desires and fantasies least of all...

She had, somehow, gotten Harry to watch one of the rom-coms with her, and both were on opposite ends of the couch in the New Guardians' living room.

"Thanks, again, for keeping me company," she told him. She might have edged just a little bit closer.

Well, they're set for the crystal anniversary (Fluff, 10) [25 Jan 2012|01:14pm]
Vegas

"Ms. Collins?" a voiced asked. "They're ready for you. Not getting cold feet now, are you?"

...What?

Heather's memory of the last... she wasn't sure how long... was oddly blank. She could hear the faitn strains of synthesized music coming from the other side fo the wooden double doors in front of her, saw that she held flowers in her hands, and...

Appeared to be wearing a wedding dress.

Again... what?

She felt a gentle push, pushing her through the doors into what was definitely a Vegas wedding chappel.

"Oh boy..."

Blue Lanterns [11 Nov 2011|07:00pm]
Blue Lanterns

Brother Bon-O

From Sector 0093, Bon-O was one of his world's greatest musicians, becoming something of a rock god. But what he was really known for, far beyond his music, was his "humanitarian" work, using his music and fame to bring notice to areas of his world that had been devastated by war and the children who had been left homeless, parentless, and hungry by those wars, as well as the environmental destruction.

It was this passion that caused him to be recruited by the Blue Lantern of Sector 0092, Marebo spent two years as a Blue Lantern before eventually finding the proper individual to become the Blue Lantern of Sector 0093.

Brother Opisth

The Blue Lantern of Sector 0078, Brother Opisth is a fungal-based lifeform. As such, his reactions and thought processes are slow, sometimes almost ponderously so. But he is a good, kind life-form (Truthfully, "it" is the more proper term, as his people have no concept of gender). Opisth is highly regarded among his people, helping to lead them out of slavery to a mammalian overclass.

Opisth is slow, but wise, and will inevitably take action in the name of Hope, even if other Blue Lanterns may get there is two to three times the time.

Sister Siri

Hailing from Sector 0100, Sister Siri comes from a race of noble hunters and trackers who had, prior to her recruitment, not had contact with the outside galaxy. When her nomadic tribe was forced to take refuge in her world's caves in the face of a colossal world storm, Siri kept her tribe's children safe, giving them the hope to survive the storm.

Siri finds the role of a Blue Lantern uncomfortable, her role as an avatar of Hope at war with her more martial instincts. But she accepts the burden placed upon her, and finds new joy in discovering the wider galaxy.

Sister Yowza

As the Blue Lantern of Sector 0014, Yowza finds that she cannot go home again. Her world's culture emphasizes not only accepting reality as it is, but stark pessimism. Her capacity to feel Hope (and thus potential inspire it in others) is seen not only as deviant, but criminal. Accepting the Blue Lantern Ring and introduction into the Corps was her only way out, not only of a culture that thought her insane, but of a death sentence. Regardless of the freedom she enjoys, her world's leaders have made it clear that if she ever returns, she will be killed.

The fire of Hope is especially strong in Sister Yowza, while the rings function on the Hope of the universe, hers is jokingly referred to as being powered by her Hope alone.

Green Lanterns [30 Oct 2011|08:41pm]
D'le

Green Lantern of Sector 1014, D'le the H'lvenite is the nephew of the late Green Lantern Ch'p. Like his uncle before him, he is endlessly optimistic and happy. His small stature sometimes limits his effectiveness, but his willpower is quite indomitable. Things always look happier when D'le is around.

Tomar Ro

A third generation Lantern of Sector 2813, the Xudarian Tomar Ro is the son of Tomar Tu and the grandson of Tomar Re. Quiet, introspective, and usually calm, he serves as one of the Corps greatest scientific minds, rarely venturing into combat scenarios unless no other options present themselves. Even then, he prefers to act to restrain or contain, rather than physical violence.

Sirius Lupus

Nominally the station house chief for Sector 2682, Sirius is known for being tough but fair, and is considered something of a father to his men. A former law enforcement officer on his own world, he's been a member of the Corps for nearly thirty years now, and is probably approaching retirement. His skills as a law enforcement officer on his own world have translated well to the Corps, and he's a more than competent administrator, with rumors that if he doesn't retire, may well succeed Salaak as Chief Administrator of the Corps.

Lag-Oon

A semi-aquatic Lantern from Space Sector 1111, Lag-Oon is a remedial trainer in the Corps, taking charge of those recruits who wash out of Kilowog's training, but whom it is believed can still serve the Corps in some manner or another. Some of his trainees go on succeed under Kilowog, while others are tapped into rescue units, medics, historians, or other non-combat purposes within the Corps, and others get assigned to Sectors with low risks of criminal activity. Gruff, but avuncular, Lag-Oon cares just as much for the recruits as Kilowog, but recognizes that not everyone is meant for combat.

Island Lights [24 Oct 2011|06:26pm]
1. Ganthet takes the New Guardians to an island for training, both in powers and in philosophy. All goes well for a time

2. As they continue with their training, they come under attack by strange alien beings wielding yellow-flame constructs. The Guardians are scattered and Ganthet is taken prisoner.

3. The Guardians are scattered across the island in pairs. Saisha and Heather, Florian and Lenny, Cindy and Harry, and Jess on her own. Each group has to contend with being hunted by Effigy Corpsmen.

4. Eventually, they make their way back to the beach, where they find Ganthet being tortured by a group of Controllers. They battle the Effigies and slowly begin to win via teamwork.

5. The Controllers pull out, satisfied that they have enough data for now. Ganthet, though worried about the implications, congratulates the Guardians on a job well done.

Player (nickname, handle)/ LJ: Dylan
Email:
AIM (if you have one):
Character Name: Heather Collins
Character LJ (if applicable): loveontherocks
Physical description (face, build, weight): Since bonding with an aspect of the Predator entity, Heather's body is now made of a blue, crystal-like substance.  Her hair is likewise made of crystal-like material, albeit very finely woven.
Age: 21
Birthday: February 28
Codename (if using one): Sapphire
PB: (If using one.) scans of Transonic/Laurie from the X-Men comics

Abilities: Enhanced strength and durability, flight, and the ability to generate, shape, and control crystals (from Iceman type stuff to making and animating a crystal statue, etc).

Being made out of crystal means she no longer needs to eat, breathe, or eliminate wastes.  She does still require sleep.

Weaknesses and flaws: Absolutely no heroic experience, not to mention overcoming the trauma involved with a major life upheaval going on here.  Her crystal form lacks a certain amount of fine dexterity and has a diminished sense of touch.

Character location/Home:  Originally from Opal City, eventually wherever the New Guardians get based out of.

Alignment (villain, hero etc): Hero
Team: The New Guardians
Relatives (living/dead?): Jacob Collins (father, living), Martha Collins (mother, living), Angela Collins (sister, living), Mark Collins (brother, living)

Backstory: A lifetime resident of Opal City, Heather was working a part time job as a waitress, going to college, and just generally trying to get ahead in life.   She had an okay job waitressing, the did volunteer work down at the soup kitchen, and did sculptures on the side, though she had yet to actually sell anything.

Little did she know that her destiny was something greater, and that it would be tied up with the destinies of six other individuals.  Fragments of the Entities of the Emotional Spectrum were working their way to Earth and she was going to be one of them.  A small portion of the Predator, the Entity of the Love/Violent end of the Emotional Spectrum bonded with her, transforming her into a new, more evolved being.

And the rest isn't so much backstory as what will go down in this plot here: http://www.scribbld.com/users/loveontherocks/306.html

How do you plan to introduce the character to the game?: See above, via this plot.  http://www.scribbld.com/users/loveontherocks/306.html

What are you planning to do with this character?:  Following their introductory plot, the New Guardians will be remaining on Earth and gathered under the leadership of Ganthet, the ex-Guardian.  Heather, like the others, will be having to reexamine her life, wondering about going back to it, trying to figure out what their destiny is, they'll have to try and get along, maybe fight a few super-villains,  and, oh yeah, protecting the White Entity from a threat from beyond...  And what happens with the other Corps and Entities get wind of them...?

What do you want to see happen with this character?: Gradually come to accept her role in the cosmos now, slowly put a new life together, and discover what it means to carry an aspect of the Entity of Love within her.

Please include a sample post/scene:

--sample is set sometime after the formation of the New Guardians--

Okay, so reach down inside herself, concentrate, and think of how you want it to be.  The crystal started shimmering into existence in front of her.  Where it came from, where she got the energy to make it, how it managed to exist when she stopped thinking about it... she didn't know any of these things.

There were a lot of things she didn't know these days.  Like what the hell she was doing.  Being here.  With these people.  Supposedly responsible for the safety and future of the whole world.  She hadn't even talked to her parents yet.  They... didn't know what had happened to her.

She didn't know if she could ever bring herself to tell them.

She continued to weave crystal, slowly shaping it.  She used her hands to guide it some, though she didn't actually need to.  She was getting good at this, at least.

Was she even human anymore?  She wasn't flesh and blood, just crystal, near as she could tell.  What would happen if she shattered?  Would she be like Humpty-Dumpty, unable to be put back together again?  She wasn't meant to be a super-hero.  Weren't, like, just about all of them these days the kids of the old heroes?  Why would any new person get involved?

She hadn't asked for any of this. To play host to some small part of something called the Predator, which apparently didn't look anything like the one from the movies.  To be "the future of humanity" as Ganthet (Or Papa Smurf, as some of them called him behind his back) called them.

She finished the sculpture, herself, the way she had looked, replicated in purple gemstone.  She closed a fist and let it shatter.

[21 Oct 2011|10:46pm]
1) After the events of the second Blackest Night and their imprisonment, a small piece of each of the Entities of the Emotional Spectrum was cast off, unknown to all, into the universe at large.  Guided by their connection to the Entity of the White Light, these small pieces drifted to Earth, seeking out... hosts.

2) Three different sets of beings become aware of this.   Hank Henshaw, the Cyborg Superman (and still Lord of the Manhunters) and Ganthet, formerly of the Guardians of the Universe, and the Guardians themselves.

3) Ganthet travels to Earth to warn the heroes of what is coming, and that they must find the hosts of the Entity fragments before either the Manhunters or the Guardians do.  The Manhunters would kill them outright, and the Guardians would imprison them to give them the edge and controlling factor over the other Corps.

4) By this point, each of the Entity fragments has found its host.  Some have been active for longer than others, some are just now coming into contact with their fragment.  But each is being transformed into a super-being by the fragment that has found them out, giving them abilities somehow connected to that aspect.  (For example, by character, who gets a fragment of the Predator/Love Entity, becomes a crystal weaver).

5) The various hero groups fight to protect the hosts from the Manhunters or Green Lanterns (or possibly both in some instances).  Several are rescued and Ganthet begins to instruct them about their new state of being.  A couple of others are captured by the Manhunters, and maybe one by the Lanterns.

6) A group of the heroes, (with the hosts insisting they come too) rescue the one caught by the Lanterns.  With Ganthet's urging, the Guardians agree to let the hosts be... with the stipulation that Ganthet is responsible for them.

7) The heroes and hosts and some Lanterns stage an attack on the Manhunter would to free the last hosts, and battle Henshaw and the Manhunters.  They manage to blow up the Manhunter world and escape with the hosts.

8) Ganthet and the hosts (dubbed the New Guardians, jokingly, but it sticks) establish a base on Earth, and begin to sort out what this all means...
