"What are you doing!?"

Bellatrix Black's disgusted screech could be heard all through the castle--Andromeda was quite certain of this much as she wrenched herself away from Ted. He grasped onto her shirt for a split second before realizing who it was that had just yelled at them, but once he had, he let go like the fabric as if it had left a burning brand on his fingers.

"Bellatrix--"

The eldest Black girl could regard her sister in nothing short of pure horror, and as Andromeda took a step forward, looking frightened, desperate, Bella retreated away from her. When Andromeda put a hand out to stop her from leaving, Bellatrix snatched her wrist out of the air quickly, clutching her arm to her chest. "Don't--don't you dare, you--" For the first time in her life, she was experiencing the feeling of not knowing what in the hell to say to a person. She--of course everyone knew that the middle child had a passing fancy for that appalling Muggleborn Tonks boy, and that was horrible enough, but this--this--even out of Andromeda, she had never expected something like this.

Bellatrix was certain that the image she had just witnessed was going to be burned upon her mind for the rest of eternity. Bleeding a person to death, mutilating a child, putting a torture curse on someone--nothing had ever left quite as deep a mark as this.

"Bella, hold on!" Andromeda sounded frantic. She should be frantic, she knew the first thing that her sister would do would be to write home.

"No," Bellatrix hissed, "No, I will not hold on, you disgusting slag. You're--oh, I should--" She shook her head, the pure horror that she had just witnessed still affecting her ability to think clearly. All she could do was turn her back and run away, and hope that someone down in the dungeons would be kind enough to gouge her eyes out for her. She needed it, after that.

24;     torturing longbottoms

A swish of robes cut through the chilly night air, the only sound accompanying the nimble patter of boots on cobblestone. Three wizards, clad in all black only pierced by the stark whiteness of their masks, made their way through the streets of London, wands held tight at their sides. Tension fell thick in the atmosphere and yet none faltered, none held back. All knew what was expected of them, and what they had set out to do.

Leading the trio, Bellatrix Lestrange allowed a sick smile to form underneath her mask. It was a smile that was rare these days, ever since that fateful Halloween night three months before. But tonight was a night to smile... Tonight it would all be over. Tonight, nothing mattered but doing the one thing she loved to do most, enjoying her task, and finally getting a sense of the retribution for which she so yearned.

From behind, her husband's gruff command reached her ears, sending the three immediately ducking behind a nearby wall. They stayed close as the sound of talking grew closer. Bella flattened herself into the bricks, tucked soundly between Rodolphus and Rabastan's shrouded figures, and for one split second allowed herself to close her eyes and take it all in.

There was nothing she would have rather been doing at that very moment. She could literally feel the adreneline, the excitement pulsing through her veins, knowing what it was like to be so carefree as she was now. None of this was for herself, no... but it was all for herself. To do this, to throw her life away for the sake of the one thing she believed in--it was exhilirating. To do it while delivering one last heartbreaking loss to the wounded Order of the Phoenix was just the cherry on top of it all.

Allowing the frigid air to rush in through her nostrils, she allowed the feeling to fill her up, and held it there. She was on the brink of what it had always been her fate to do, and nothing else mattered.

The voices were close now, just next to them, and the fire lit in Bella's eyes at Rabastan's signal. Before she could even stop to breathe, they were gone, out from under cover, wands out and soaking up the screams that had suddenly burst into the air.

This was the end, and she was going to enjoy every last second. "Crucio!"
