Appearance:
PB: Ronja Korhonen.
Physical Description:
Tatum's hair reaches her mid-back, and she is a natural redhead when she isn't adding streaks or mussing it up in some manner. It's mostly straight, sometimes with a little wave, but nothing incredibly noticeable unless she puts in the effort. Mostly her hair hangs, reaching her shoulders and gently framing her face and getting in her eyes. She sometimes pulls it back or up if she's concentrating particularly hard.

Her skin is incredibly pale and burns quite easily in the sun. She is the type of girl that just doesn't tan well, and is usually devoid of color even in the hottest of summer months. She has a smattering of pretty light freckles over the bridge of her nose and her cheeks, as well as on some other parts of her body including her shoulders and arms. She doesn't care much for a lot of make-up, other than eye make-up and lip gloss.

Her eyes are gray-blue. She has a somewhat narrow face with thin lips and a slightly pointy nose. Her height reaches just a bit less than five feet and three inches, with a thin physique and a generally frail appearance. Her stature is almost boyish, always skinny and slouching. Her hips and chest area are rather narrow and flat respectively. It is in these areas where she seems to still be waiting to grow despite being nearly twenty. Her ears are pierced twice in each, as well as a barbell stud in her tongue. She has a tattoo on her right forearm which reads 'hearts are often broken by words left unspoken' in black.

Tatum's fashion sense could only be described as casual. She wears what she pulls off of the floor or out of her closet in the morning, and is an avid shopper from second-hand shops and thrift stores. If it looks cute, and she finds it comfy to wear, then she is likely to be found wearing it. A lot of graphic tee shirts, skinny jeans, hooded sweaters, sunglasses, hats, sneakers, plaid, silver jewelery, and scarves. She likes brands such as DC, Vans, Hurley, Etnies, Element, Roxy, Billabong, etc.

Personality:
Likes: Music [even rap!], reading, writing, guitar, vinyl records, eyeliner, old films, photography, yoga, biology, life sciences, video games, Rath, horror/macabre, cheese and crackers, skateboarding, drinkable yogurt, surfing eBay, girls, coconut, coffee drinks such as lattes and mochachinos, nature, ginger ale, marijuana and marijuana culture, animals, hanging out and chilling, corn chips, jamming, Nintendo 3DS, sour gummi worms, fresh baked cookies, rice candy, and pink & black together.
Dislikes: Failing tests, her inability to stick to quitting online games, [most] romantic comedies, potion brewing, technically being the middle child, intense mathematics, seafood, awkward situations, boys [romantically], giving speeches, talking to new people, being on bad terms with her dad, the color teal, the closet, religion, mushrooms [especially on pizza], dry spells, getting busted, dark chocolate, bigots, being judged/talked about, and paisley patterns on dresses.

Quirks:
- Tatum has an ridiculous affection for old timey things. Antiques, the history channel, old movies, old music, black & white photography, ancient architecture. Other than the lack of awesome electronic inventions back then, she sometimes thinks she was meant to born circa some other time period.
- It comes as second nature to her to berate Mack and call her disgusting, because she is, but she actually finds the blonde girl really funny sometimes when she's not being an asshole. She has always said a lot of the gross things Tatum thinks but never has the balls to blurt out.
- On a good day, has her first joint by six and her first coffee by seven. She usually has peanut butter toast for breakfast, or Lucky Charms with skim milk cause everybody knows Lucky Charms are dope as fuck.
- Is sometimes a little too insistent about her firm heterosexuality. Let's just say, the lady doth protest an awful lot. Some [Sera] might say it's the sign of a guilty conscience!
- Claims she "doesn't hate gay people", she just "isn't one".
- Despite having a police officer for a father, Tatum smokes weed like it's going out of style. Where ever she may be, she usually has a joint rolled on her somewhere. She's been smoking since she was thirteen and really has no intention to stop. She is pretty much perma-fried on a good day. She feels that it not only helps her chill, but makes her anxiety a lot easier to deal with.
- Owns a claddagh ring, given to her by her father for her twelfth birthday. Tatum has worn it on her right hand every day since.
- Her guitar is named Bolan, after Marc Bolan.
- Is thirsty pretty much 90% of her time.
- Refers to her step-mother as 'mom' almost all of the time. Only really calls her 'Madeline' when she's angry with her, or trying to avoid confusion while talking about her biological mother.
- Recently gave up her music snob image since starting university. Tatum is finally just starting to admit that she listens to, and loves, pretty much all types and kinds of music. No matter how mainsteam it is. Some of her favorites now openly include Wiz Khalifa, Lady Gaga, and Dev, along with old favorites like Fleetwood Mac and the NESkimos. It feels good to listen to whatever.
- Grows her own weed in the woods nearby her house in Maine, and sells it at school. It's a little operation that she's lucky her father has never found out about, but it's spending money and it's fun. It makes her feel sort of cool.
- Tends to steal hoodies, sunglasses and hats from boyfriends on a regular basis.
- Basically keeps Tasty Puff in business. She's always got some flavors kicking around, but her favorites lie with Blueberry Thrill, Crazy Coconut, and Rasta Rootbeer.
- It drives her crazy that people assume Sera is the older sister. Sera has almost half a foot of height on her, and the way that the brunette dresses like a little politician doesn't help. When their mother says she has a daughter in high school and one in university, people's guesses on which is which are almost always wrong.

Secrets:
~ Only two people ever have known for a fact that Tatum is gay. First, she has told her twin brother, Rath. Second, her friend Frankie, become privy to the secret before she committed suicide last year.
~ Has never had full-on sex with anyone [male or female], despite kissing many-a-boy [and the occasional slip up with a girl] in her quest to seem as straight as possible over high school. She dated a muggle boy named Colin Stanfield from her hometown for the last year or so, mostly to make her dad happy. She chose a boy from Maine so that she would only have to kiss him while she was stuck at home on holidays. But after she refused to sleep with him for the hundredth time over this latest summer, they are broken up taking a break while she's away at university. She liked Colin, in the same way she liked any of her boyfriends, and that was as a good friend whom she was obligated to lock lips with for the sake of appearances. She mostly feels sad because she really feels nothing losing him. Or any other guy.
~ Doesn't really attend church half as much as she leads her father to believe. He calls to check in every Sunday, but she can usually convince Sera to cover for her for a price, if it comes to that.
~ She is ashamed to say that she isn't big on Audrey Hepburn, even if she is the quintessential vintage movie darling. Despite Tatum's obsession with all things dated, there is just something about Audrey that she doesn't care for. She just has that bitch face.
~ On a total whim [and her step-mother's pressuring], she tried out for Shawnee's cheerleading squad when she was a freshman. She did terribly, and hasn't talked about it/confronted the memory since then. She is just hoping all other people present have forgotten it ever happened, or they've already graduated.
~ She can be caught singing alone in her dormitory, often with headphones on, totally oblivious to the world. Dancing sometimes accompanies this if the weed is really good.
~ She tries to convince herself that if she keeps being gay at the back of her mind, she can get past it. But she really knows that won't happen.
~ She blames herself entirely for Frankie's suicide. If she had just acted on what she truly felt, and let the other girl do the same, then maybe everything could have been avoided. Maybe they even could have been happy, even if her father would have killed her. Instead she over-reacted, and everything went to shit and the incident has just left her even more insecure and anxiety-ridden about her sexuality. In a way, being gay took away her best friend.
~ People seem to believe, particularly after Frankie's death, that she and Julian have taken to 'seeing' each other. Neither of them have ever confirmed or denied, Tatum tries not to acknowledge it. It's just a rumor, and really, it helps her in the end. If people think she's rolling with one of the biggest players in school, even if in reality he's just a friend, that's okay. Tatum definitely feels something for Julian, but it really isn't romantic. She thinks a lot of it has to do with lingering guilt related to their losing Frankie. She has a sinking worry that Jules might have her figured out.
~ She is extremely jealous of her little sister, and it is one of the contributing factors to their almost never getting along. Sera has everything that Tatum wants; top marks, cheerleader, a beautiful girlfriend whom also happens to be a cheerleader, and to top it all off, she's brave enough to be out as bisexual to almost everyone. Including her mother. Tatum just doesn't feel like she could open up to Madeline the way that Sera can.

Amortentia Smells Like: Hashish, grapefruit, and evergreen trees.
Strengths: Very talented with magical biology & transfiguration, very knowledgeable about music and film, excellent listener, talented guitarist & vocalist, good with essay questions on examinations, helpful, trusting, good baker, good with technology, rolls an excellent joint, tries to be honest [except maybe about herself], good photographer, sympathetic, surprisingly affectionate.
Weaknesses: Fairly poor at potions & ritual magic, awkward, weak willed, allows people to walk all over her, shy, easily embarrassed, bad under pressure at practical exams, push over, very critical of herself in many aspects of her life, difficulty focusing on task at hand sometimes, bad at flying & athletics in general.

Detailed Personality:
Tatum is an incredibly quiet girl when you first meet or approach her. She possesses a somewhat guarded personality. She can be truly naive in some respects, but she is also very intelligent. She does well on most classes, and keeps a very nice grade average [though pale in comparison to her younger sister] and she is far from dumb. Her street smarts may sometimes lack from a slightly sheltered upbringing, but she knows the way of the world and rarely allows people to fool her.

Not twice, at least.

She is the type of girl who trusts a friend with her whole self, and once crossed by a person, her trust for them will always be a little damaged. However, this trusting disposition leads to a very open friendship with anyone whom deems her worthy of their approval. On a one-on-one basis, she is calm and casual, and usually only speaks up in an aggressive manner when she sees it as being fully necessary to do so. Which isn't often at all.

She's sometimes willing to stand up for others if really pushed, especially her good friends, but it takes a lot of pressure and the right circumstances to push her over the edge. Generally she doesn't have very much of a temperamental side on the average day. Tatum doesn't really socialize with too large of a group, but she can usually be seen skulking around campus with her few friends or heading to classes or back to her dorm to chill. She speaks fluent English, and she understands a fair bit of French. Enough to get by at least, or know when her sister is shit talking her. Learning this is due to the fact that her younger sister and step-mother are both fluent in it, as well as some of her friends.

The biggest flaw people find in Tatum is just exactly how shy she really is, almost painfully so. When she doesn't know a person, situation, or area, then she is withdrawn and awkward, and can usually be caught stammering or mumbling her speech. Nothing makes her more anxious than unfamiliarity, but it is something than she is learning to deal with as she grows older. When she was younger and before attending Blue Ridge, she was able to stick with a group of closer muggle friends that she and her brother grew up with and just avoid situations she disliked. Now she's found it harder to avoid things she dislikes while away at school. It's especially frustrating while being compared side-by-side to her little sister every day by peers and professors alike.

She and her sister get along pretty poorly, often fighting like cats and dogs, since Sera is every bit the opinionated and brash individual that Tatum cannot bring herself to be. Yet when they need each other, they're more than a perfect example that blood is thicker than water. Their relationship continues to get better as they grow older, but they have a long way to go yet.

Tatum tries not to let her shyness define her, if she can help it. Once you get to know the girl, she is really quite friendly and helpful, and has an excellent sense of humour and a decent taste for adventure. She loves to listen and offer advice, and is always ready with a joint and a chill session or a random drive around just to get away. Rare as the relaxed side might be, viewed only by those closest to her, it is there. She is a true friend through and through, loyal and a bit goofy and always ready to support and lend a hand to people who need her, even if she doesn't have a lot of confidence in herself and her own abilities. She might dislike herself, but she adores her friends and they are the most important thing to her. Her choices in friends are some of the few good choices she believes she has ever made.

Her lack of confidence and low self-esteem are something she battles daily. She considers her success with academics to be mere flukes, her homosexuality a sin, and her appearance is something that she is frequently embarrassed over. She hates her bright hair and tiny stature. She doesn't see why anyone, let alone a pretty girl, would ever want to be with a skinny little wimp like her. Quite bothered by her less than feminine physique, she finds it rather awkward to have the body of a ten year old boy when she's a going-on-nineteen year old girl. She knows there isn't anything she can do about it, but it is still something she dwells on.

Tatum's romantic relationships are somewhat of a complicated mess. She is a romantic girl at heart, and longs to be able to be with a girl that she genuinely loves and wants to be with. She has wanted this for longer than she's really willing to admit. Until she opens up and is honest with herself about her sexuality, it is unlikely that it will happen. Working hard to hide as much of her homosexuality as she can, Tatum usually ends up falling in easily with guys. She can be one of the boys, playing games and smoking like a champ, and making friends with them no problem and never really having the heart to say 'no' when their feelings growing and they eventually ask her out.

She doesn't mind cuddling or holding hands with a guy, even kissing, but that is pretty much where she draws the line. She's had several different boyfriends, mostly to make her father happy, and to keep up her charade. But she's never let herself take it any further, and she's glad to have a strict Catholic upbringing to fall back on for an excuse. Technically she is saving herself, just not for the right reasons.

Personal History
Tatum remembers her life growing up as being quite ordinary. There was nothing incredibly outstanding about the parents who gave her life, or about the life they gave her in the northern part of the state of Maine. Her mother, Claire Harris, was a pure-blooded witch originally born in New York city. She made the move to live in Maine just after she graduated from Blue Ridge university's pre-med program.

Arriving in her new state, Claire decided to continue her education, working in a mixture of muggle and magical nursing at a Portland hospital. The hospital was where she met Tatum's father. Michael Donnelly was a muggle police officer in training when he met Claire. He was a young man with a sort of old-fashioned way of thinking, and she was surprisingly quite taken with him. He was an excellent gentleman. Maine born and raised in the town of Portage Lake, both of Mick's parents were Irish immigrants whom had come to America as children, and his culture and religion were both very important to him. Perhaps sometimes too much, he always tried to instill those values in his children.

Born only a short while after her parents were married, Tatum was a second-born fraternal twin with a five-minute older brother named Rath.

Tatum's mother passed away just a few months after the twins were born; doctors later confirmed that it was a major brain aneurysm. There had been no reason to perform any random neurological tests on a seemingly healthy young mother, and it was something no one could have prepared for. In respect to the anniversary of her mother's death, July can sometimes be a touchy month, particularly for her father.

Neither twin got to really know their mother all that well, outside of stories their father told them and piles of old photographs packed away upstairs. Spending her childhood hours in the attic looking at photo albums of her parents in happier times is where Tatum's love for photography and artifacts of the past was born. Just before the one year anniversary of the death of his first wife, Tatum's father fell in love with another woman, a friend and colleague of Claire's by the name of Madeline Rousseau. He eventually would ask her to marry him. She was a Parisian born witch, originally coming to North America for her work. She had met Claire working at the hospital, and the two had been fast and close friends.

Madeline helped Michael with the twins, being an integral person in their every day lives before even their first birthday. She also helped Michael move through the loss of Claire, and the grief of becoming a young widower so suddenly and unexpectedly. The couple was quick with their nuptials, marrying after a year of being together. And just a month after their wedding, Madeline was pregnant. They produced a daughter, whom they named Seraphim though she quickly became 'Sera' to most. Outside of babysitters, all three children were raised by Michael and Madeline for the entirety of their lives.

They did not have very many close relatives, Mick and his brother rarely spoke to each other and with the other side of the family, they only saw their aunt and cousins every so often. Though Tatum was always quite fond of her aunt, imagining that her mother must have been very similar. She often tirelessly questioned her aunt about her mother when she was younger, but it was something she outgrew with age as she became shyer. Other than those scarce visits, and seeing their grandparents once in a while, the kids didn't see much family.

Their father was a police officer for as long as Tatum can recall, very serious about his profession and a man who worked hard to support their family. He was sheriff of their town's local force by the time the twins were thirteen. As a result, Michael was extremely busy at work and he didn't have much time to spend at home with his children, making his presence slightly absent at times. Their step-mother was a woman who worked hard as well, with a position within one of the departments at the League of American Wizards.

Though she often took special days off to spend with Sera while she was growing up, Madeline really spent not much more time at home than her husband did. The three children spent a lot of time learning things themselves, playing outside, or teaching each other. They were passed through a series of various sitters over the years, most of which Tatum was ambivalent toward. Usually teenage girls who were nice enough but just talked on the phone the whole time and fawned over how cute Sera was. Other than on holidays, they experienced very few warm family dinners, but Tatum remembers always feeling they were content. Mostly because it was what they knew.

Her father's religious views were something that Tatum and her siblings have always been aware of. Michael is very strict to their Roman Catholic faith, even going so far as to call them on Sunday to make sure that they've attended service together. Despite being an otherwise good and supportive father, he is a man with very close-minded views on some things, including homosexuality. Her father's extreme dislike of gay people and 'the gay lifestyle' is something Tatum has always known about, and always been anxious and a little terrified about.

She knows, if she is honest with herself, how she has always felt. She supposes she knew that something was 'wrong' with her even as far back as shortly after beginning muggle school, and the situation hadn't improved any by the time she arrived at Blue Ridge. Older and full of more hormones, not to mention rooming with other girls, didn't lend a hand to her situation. Terrified of what her father would think if he could know what she was thinking or how she felt, Tatum began a cycle of denial and never came out of the spirtal.

Tatum has never been able to own up to the truth about herself, and face her father on any subject but especially not on the subject of homosexuality. It feels as if she may never be able. It somehow seems easier to force herself through boyfriend after boyfriend, trying to tell herself that she isn't gay after all, and that maybe the thoughts will just go away over time and with more praying. She highly doubts it, since if anything, she's been feeling even more confused and conflicted as she ages. To date, Rath is the only one who truly knows how confused and messed up she's been for years. He's the only one who gets her enough.

Growing up, and even now as young adults, Tatum's brother was always her best friend. They were always there for each other, ready to support each other when need be. You could blame it on the bond or connection that twins are supposed to have, but Tatum would rather believe that they got along because her brother has always been an especially kind and likable individual. With loads of things in common, even with similar trains of thought sometimes, Tatum feels like maybe there is some sort of connection there. Rath is her counter-part, able to speak up for her and take care of her where she is unable to do it for herself. It's always sort of been that way, and she isn't sure she could deal if that were to change. She's more dependent on him than she would like to be, and worries about burdening him.

With her younger sister, the bond was neither quick or willing. Sera and Tatum fought from a young age, and she always found her sister to be so different than her and Rath. Not to mention the fact that Sera was always trying to get him to take her side. While the twins were jumping off of high places in the yard, she was happy to quietly bird watch. While they were playing video games, she would read classic literature. She was just different, and Tatum recognized the differences between them, and Sera was quite ready to do the same. Despite everything though, Tatum always loved her little sister dearly, and would always stand up for her if she really needed it. Picking on Sera has always only been okay when she was the one doing it.

When the twins turned eleven, becoming of age to attend magical school, it was no surprise when admissions letters arrived right on time. The twins and Sera had both already shown their magic at young ages, and it was merely a expected occurrence that they would attend a proper magic school one day. Their choice of schools had been Blue Ridge School, Dresden Academy, or Beauxbatons for the girls. Given the choice, Tatum didn't take long to decide on Blue Ridge, her birth mother's alma mater. Besides that, Rath couldn't come along to Beauxbatons and the thought of leaving him home left her frazzled.

From the minute she stepped foot into Blue Ridge, even as a first year, Tatum knew that she was somewhere special. She wanted to stay, even if the crowds of students were stressing her out. She'd stay and she would get to the university eventually. When she did, she knew she would go for pre-med. She would follow in her mother's footsteps, like her father and step-mother had been seeming to expect from her since birth or something. For as long as Tatum remembers, her dad wanted her to be a doctor.

Tatum was overwhelmed but nervously excited. Things would be easier with Rath by her side, and Sera would be along in a few years, and surely dealing with living with so many other people had to get easier. It didn't get much easier, but it began to improve, even after just the first full day. Soon enough Blue Ridge became home and Maine was the treat.

She did well in the lower grades at Blue Ridge, as well as the high school portion. She kept to herself mostly, making a few really close friends and a few bullies, but getting along pretty well in general. Life was, as it had always been, pretty ordinary. Things remained mundane until she met a girl named Frankie Prideaux during her sophomore year.

She was quickly infatuated with the brunette, going out of her way to impress her and spend as much time with her as possible. Ignoring any obvious signs of the girl's eating disorder, Tatum just didn't want to think about it. Really, was it any of her business? Frankie was a big girl, and Tatum wouldn't dare criticize her in any serious way. Together the two were wild, experimenting with various drugs and indulging in constant partying whenever possible, and Tatum's grades did suffer. She would always skip class to spend time with Frankie, the younger girl didn't even have to ask, and they were quite close until Frankie suddenly committed suicide over the summer of Tatum's junior year. It came shortly after a particularly bad fight between them, and the guilt was enormous.

There were a mixture of factors contributing to the other girl's death, but the redhead knew that she was definitely one of them, perhaps one of the bigger ones. She never quite learned to let that fact go. She doesn't really talk much about her friend, other than occasionally to Frankie's brother Julian. She prefersto keep whatever was between them to herself. She hasn't even told Rath exactly every detail what really happened between them before Frankie died, particularly their last fight. Other than Rath, Frankie was the closest person Tatum ever had to a best friend all her own, and she supposes if she's completely and fully honest with herself then the other girl was also her first love. She still feels that she will never fully get over her.

The influence of her father's religion began Tatum's fear of admitting her real sexuality, knowing how cruelly the world and even her own father could react has always caused her a great amount of stress, but the guilt over Frankie's death only piled on top of what she already feared. She began to not only worry about what people would say if they knew she was gay, but what could happen to the girls she liked. What if she screwed up and someone else died? She never felt capable of dealing with another loss like that, and it became easier to squash her feelings down and push girls away. Boys, though she felt no attraction to them, became easier to deal with. Mostly for that reason. She generally felt nothing, and they couldn't hurt her.

Now a few years older and with all of her first seven years of school behind her, things aren't quite as exciting for Tatum as when she was younger.

She has started university, and all of the first year jitters are long gone. Mundane daily life has set back in. Classes and learning are routine and droll, faces are familiar, and she has people she both adores and can't stand everywhere she looks. Her sister still drives her insane, her brother is still her best friend, and a lot of things never change.

Georgia is a little weird, too warm, and she prefers Maine, but it's just as much her home even if it is too hot. She has met friends, lost love, pulled all-nighters, joined clubs, gotten boyfriends, taken brilliant pictures, learned some new guitar chords, had even more boyfriend drama, and even failed an exam or two. It's all behind her now, and she was really hoping that being a freshman again would be.. well, refreshing. She can't wait to see what university years are going to hold, even if it might be scary.
