-Grayson Wilkes (PB): Somehow manages to come out of the battle with barely a scratch (like a boss). Still taken to Azkaban, however. Definitely has to be stunned and subdued.
-Walden MacNair (HB): Hagrid throws him against a wall, yo. He's definitely going to have some broken bones after that.
-Braith Selwyn (PB): Suffers severe injuries and brain damage during a duel with Tomas Booth. Ends up recalling his original personality and spending the rest of his life in Azkaban utterly miserable.
-Roderick Dearborn (PB): 'Flips' during the middle of the war after the Ministry's torture methods become too messy for even his tastes. Works in conjunction with Bianca Vaisey to remove muggleborns from the Ministry in specially enchanted trash bins.

-Marissa MacFusty (PB): Duels with Christopher Loftus; suffers extensive blood loss and is rescued by William Jugson.
-Alastor Moody (MB)(deceased): Dies July 27, 1997 in the effort to move Harry from Privet Drive.

-Avis Booth (HB): Duels with Rodolphus Lestrange; ensures that he is incarcerated and receives the kiss for his crimes.

Andromeda Tonks is sitting with her back against the wooden doorframe of her kitchen. The trim has faded lines running up the length of it from very close to the bottom to a foot or two from the top and the thin strip of wall next to it has dates scribbled next to each little mark (Nymphadora had gotten to be taller than both of her parents were betting, considering the near-toxic amountes of caffeine she'd ingested as a teenager). She drops her head back against the frame with an audible 'thud', then winces.

If it wakes up Nymphadora, she's going to be awfully cross (pregnancy hormones are a bitch). She lets her eyes slide to the mail slot again, slow and lazy, like pretending that she isn't anxious about the post not coming today will make it come faster. She squeezes one eye closed, then the other. Opens one eye, then the other. She pretends this isn't the same thing she's been doing for almost an hour. Before she realizes it, one hand comes to her mouth and she's chewing on a cuticle with a jagged piece of skin, pulling it off with her teeth.

If there's blood, she doesn't notice it, doesn't taste it. She's itching for a cigarette, but damned if she's going to smoke inside the house when she knows that her pregnant daughter is asleep in the next room. The more time she spends thinking about Nymphadora's well-being, the less time she has to think about other things.

It's been thirty seven days, thirteen hours and fourty-nine minutes since Ted left. She had ached to go with him, to protect him from what she knew would be after him ... but this wasn't the family that she had abandoned that first time she had run off with Ted Tonks. This family was loved by her, needed her.

Sitting on the mantle of the Tonks household is thirty seven objects that seem not to have any connection to each other at all. There is a napkin from some dive-bar in the middle-of-nowhere (complete with barbaque sauce), a glass marble, and a half-crushed violet that looked like it should have been better wrapped. There are other things too, things that have been piling up one day at a time since Ted first left.

Mail flutters through the little brass slot in the door and Andromeda is almost ashamed at how quickly she springs on it, fingers shaking uncontrollably. There are three envelopes, and she thumbs through them quickly - they all have addresses and when she opens them, they are all simply parchment. Her breath catches in her throat and she lets the letters drift back to the spotless carpet in front of the door. She clenches her fists and brings them down to the ground quietly (can't wake up Nymphadora, not now), bows forward until her thumbs are pressing into the hollows of her eyes.

For a few days she tells herself that the mail must just be delayed, that Ted must be far off having a reckless adventure.

For a few days more, she pretends that he's had a change of heart and decided to run off with a cheap trollop on vacation from Amsterdam (but she still can't even pretend to hate him, not even a little bit).

It's more than a week before Nymphadora finally, angrily asks what the hell her mother is doing collecting such rubbish on her mantle when she's always hated mess. Too much hiding things has made Andromeda tired, and when she finally tells her daughter what they mean she understands too quickly.

She tries not to be too emotional in front of her daughter. Dora has so many other things to be sad about, to worry about -- and the baby needs to be healthy. Andromeda needs the baby to be healthy -- but this just makes her daughter more upset and in the end, they both cry until nightfall.

The next days aren't any easier for Andromeda, but Remus finally comes to his senses and Dora names the baby after her father. Andromeda loves the boy, but it takes her months to call him by his real name.

Things don't get easier, but Andromeda begins to think that as long as she has her daughter and her family, she might be all right.

Personality: Summer MEANS well. No, really. No matter how awkward she is at expressing her own feelings (or telling anyone anything at all, really), she does have her party's best interests at heart. She can come off as rather brash or blunt by human standards, but this is in large part due to the less-than-warm greeting that most people have given her in the past. She's not always the most concise creature because it's sometimes difficult for her to find the right phrasing (see that note about the head trauma). This is frustrating (and irritating) for herself and for others, but she maintains that it isn't something she can help and tries as best she can to get to the point as quickly as possible. She tries to make up for her clumsiness by making it useful to others, and she's tried to augment her propensity for falling down with a strong body that's helpful for getting up. Her temper is sometimes a little short, but that's what the big axe is for.

Odd Quirks: Clumsy, rather brash and prone to resorting to 'noises and actions' rather than speech

Special Talents: VERY good at reading body language, good knowledge of most basic religions.

Complications: Not particularly intelligent, prone to injuring herself frequently (although this has proven beneficial), 'valley girl' speech pattern because of severe head trauma as a child.

Background Story: From a very young age, Summer was raised to become a Cleric. Her family tried to cram all sorts of knowledge into her head, but the only things that seemed to stick involved deities, old names, dates and colours that complemented each other. She was generally well-liked and athletic for most of her youth, although this went somewhat downhill after 'the incident'. Learning to heal well was something that ended up being immensely useful to such a clumsy child, and she's grown quite good at it. She uses her strength as a way to offset her graceless movement (even though this probably makes it worse, but she's not quite intelligent enough to figure that out on her own). Besides, she can totally accessorize her awesome axe way better than some lame dagger hilt.

History: After deciding to 'branch out' her abilities as a Cleric and see the world's religions for herself, Summer ventured immediately to find some Goblins. Their rich tradition of stories and legends as far back as the Age of Dhakaan held her attention almost as well as a new pair of dragonhide boots with a three inch heel, and she spent several years studying a large tribe. This is where she picked up the Goblin language and where much of her insight comes from - the goblin language has as much to do with ear position and body language as it does with spoken word, and Summer has been able to carry much of her wisdom about this over to encounters with other creatures. She's also pretty good at picking out clothes that have in her experience gained her the reaction she's been hoping for (although there was a good deal of error with this initially).

She came to Doublemoon to experience the Church of Melora that resides on the island, finally comfortable in choosing a deity that held in her hands the balance of wilderness and civility that she had been trying to find foor some time. She kept largely to herself during services, but managed to incite a few brawls with those who took offense to her speech or to her appearance. Despite this, it has been her home for enough years that she is comfortable on its shores. She was attending the funeral rites of a fellow Longtooth Shifter when the city fell, and jumped (literally) at the first opportunity to return to Doublemoon and take back the city.

So, enter friend S. Friend S has been someone I lived with for four months last summer during my camp-stint.

Friend S's roommate is moving out in a week and it turns out that the landlords are going to continue to rent and want to know if she has anyone to move in with her.

This all seemed like a great idea last night, but now...

Pros:
-Away from the crazy mother. Love her, but can't deal with her insanity.
-Going to have to leave eventually, might as well move in with someone I know I can stand.
-GREAT location -- across the tracks on Whyte ave., for you Edmontonians/Former Edmontonians.
-Brand new appliances, hardwood floors, secure building (it has freakin' key passes for the elevator), also has a gym (and possibly an indoor pool)?
-Only 600/month (we think, she has to double-check to see if it's the same as this year) including utilities.

Cons:
-Away from the mother = away from the cat.
-MIGHT be able to convince them that I can bring the cat, but that brings in the expense of the cat (food, insulin, needles, cat litter).
-AWAY FROM THE CAT. I know this is being made out to be a huge problem, but the fact is that my cat is the only thing that's been constant in my life for TWELVE years. I don't know if I can stand only seeing her a few times a month ... and she's totally acting like she knows I'm thinking about leaving, she's been glued to my side since last night. Literally, she goes upstairs to eat and then just cuddles against me for the rest of the time. SAD.
-Also means I will probably have to work part-time during the school year (but I'm going to have minimal/no classes on T/R next year and only 4 classes each semester, so that might be doable). I also have a sizable amount in savings and will be working this summer.

I feel like I might be using the cat as a reason not to move out...but at the same time I don't know. BLAH.

So ... the internship that I really wanted? Canceled.

I had a second choice but I am not sure quite how it works and I didn't want it nearly as much as I wanted this one. That sucks. It also sucks that the really cool alternative will be extremely expensive and not funded by a scholarship (because the internship at the NMNH came with/comes with a $6000 scholarship).

It also sucks that I don't know if I want to go back and work at camp; I could still in theory do the aDNA training and then do a half-summer at camp, but I also don't know if I want to do that. I really wanted to do something different this year.

Hell, I might just end up backpacking around the states or something. Roleplay people will house me, won't they?
