AU Lover's Quarrel [05 Jul 2011|08:09pm]
Paris listened to what she had to say. Apparently, business needed doing in Cape Verde. Trouble needed stirring up for the benefit of the Club and of their people. And in some way, the rather unstable head of the military junta of that notorious South American country would need to be involved.

"So when shall we be leaving to negotiate with this madman, My Queen?"

AU: Diamonds are forever. [27 Jun 2011|08:58pm]
He didn't finally breathe fresh air or see the sunlight until he got out, but even before then, just brushing a little against the mind that was there, even a shielded one... it was so wonderful.

He'd clutched her hand from his knees and kissed it before he'd even looked up, and once he did...she was the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen.

It didn't matter why she had come for him, what she wanted. She would have it. Paris would see to it.

Flashback: Some months ago. [13 Apr 2011|01:05am]
It was horrific. So many of their people stripped. In the first few moments that understanding dawned, part of him tried, in foolish optimism, to declare it simply a handicap their mutant brethren were currently facing, like being blinded, as he had felt blinded all the years of his latency.

But he soon realized it was permanent. And worse, he saw that Magneto had also been affected. The Bright Center of the Universe, whose essence was entwined with power, was a ...human. The Master of Magnetism was as one of the mob. His Angel among insects had been reduced to one of the horde of locusts.

And it was clear: Magneto's very soul had been stripped away, along with millions of others. The man who'd earned his fealty years ago was gone, just an animate, memory-retaining shell left behind.

Prologue: Renewal of Oaths. [08 Apr 2011|07:36pm]
When He was Himself again, Exodus came to find Him.

He landed within His view, but with a small distance, powered down completely, and dropped to his knees.

After everything that had happened, Exodus felt as lost, wretched, and in need of guidance as he had the day Magnus had first dug him up and taken his hands.

He spoke as soon as he had the opportunity. "Sir. If you retain discomforting memories of the time in which you were Not Yourself--" Because that hadn't been the real Magnus. Exodus had refused to believe it then and could not grasp the concept now. "-- I beg your forgiveness."

A deep breath, trying to keep his voice level. "I do not know what to do. I do not know how to help Our People." Still on his knees, looking down, he offered his hands, the way he had years ago, when he'd been given a place at Magnus's side, saving mutantkind. "...Will you take me back, My Lord?"
