in character.hello my name is Sasha Rost
my major is music education
my age/year is 20//junior
i come from St. Petersburg, Russia
one. I hate America. No, I am not kidding. I hate it. I hate the way it smells, the way it looks and the way the people look at me when I speak. (When Sasha first arrived from Russia, he got a lot of flack for his appearance and his accent. Now he thinks all Americans are incredibly arrogant and rude, and he hates most of them.)
two. I do not speak in front of my peers. (He absolutely refuses to speak in front of a group of his peers. He's convinced they'll make fun of him and his accent. He'll speak in front of his professors and children that don't know any better, but never in front of people his own age.)
three. I do not speak about my family. (As a rule, Sasha does not freely offer information about his past or his family. He doesn't trust people easily, and therefore, he does not tell them things.)
four. I play the piano and the french horn. (Well, that's self-explanatory, right? He plays the piano because his french horn teacher noticed his fingers were insanely long, and told him to try piano. He loves both very much. He plays the French horn because, well, he just does.)
five. I can beat anyone in what you call 'Texas Hold Them'. (Yes, Sasha refuses to call it 'texas hold 'em'. He was taught
proper English, thank you, and even though he has an accent, that doesn't mean he isn't grammatically correct.)
six. Stalin is my hero. (That's an exaggeration, because really? Stalin is an awful man. But, Sasha believes wholeheartedly in Communism. It's unfortunate to him that America doesn't feel the same way. He hopes one day to change their minds.)
seven. I have a younger sister. You touch her and I will kill you. (Sasha left Russia at the age of 16, with his 12 year old sister, Anna, in tow. He feels it's his job to protect her from everything that could possibly harm her, ever. He's very protective, and if anyone so much as looks at her wrong, he gets angry and starts a fight. He's got a short fuse, to say the least.)
eight. I am not interested in girls. Or boys. Get away from me. (Sasha likes to think of himself as asexual, though, if the right person came along, he'd definitely attach himself to them. He got all of his mother's dependence on people.)
nine. My favorite book is Anna Karenina. (And, naturally, his favorite author is Leo Tolstoy. He first read the book when he found a copy of it on the ground, all dirty and nearly destroyed. He took it home and cleaned it the best he could. Miraculously, none of the words or pages had actually been damaged, just the cover. He read it and fell in love with the story and the writing and quickly got his hands on everything else Tolstoy had written. He actually started calling his sister Anna, since he hated the name their parents had given her.)
ten. I do not miss my parents. (When Sasha left for America at the age of 16, he left and never looked back. His childhood was horrible, a dependent mother who didn't love her children, and an abusive, drunk father who thought Sasha would never amount to anything. He's at Allegro to prove himself to his father, even though he never wants to speak to either of his parents again.)
eleven. Sasha enjoys a good joke. One of the easiest ways to get on his good side is to make him laugh. It doesn't happen a lot, but if you make him laugh, he'll think you're pretty alright.
twelve. He does not live on-campus. Since he's an older student and he has his sister with him, he lives off-campus in an apartment that he has to work tremendously hard to keep. Anna helps him pay the rent and all that, since she has a job at the local cosmetics store, but most of their income comes from the lessons Sasha gives to local children.
what no one knows. Sasha is actually incredibly passionate. Both in his ideals, and in his love life. True, his love life is non-existent, but he is known to be very passionate and extreme in his relationships. Perhaps sometimes too passionate, bordering on dangerous. He doesn't know how to control his emotions very well, and that tends to lead to disaster.
