HISTORY Born the only child of Geraldine and Jakob Vane, Romilda was the only baby born out of years of trying to have one. Geraldine was a beautiful witch who made socializing her main priority in life from the time she was fifteen. It was through all her charming banter and manipulative gossip she met Jakob, a muggleborn, and decided he was the one. Jakob was (is) a rather soft-spoken man, one of determination and hard work, but with an oversized soft spot for a pretty smile and doe eyes. When the couple was married, they had planned on having three children, at least, and despite their efforts, no pregnancy resulted in a bouncing baby. Romilda came as the most pleasant of surprises. She was their little miracle child, and was doted upon by her parents, especially her father (she had a pretty smile and doe eyes, what was he to do?) Whatever little Romilda wanted, it was likely she would get it, and this continues at present for the spoiled Miss Vane. The Vanes were by no means the wealthiest family on the block, but had enough to pretend they were. They would often host soirees and luncheons, the majority of which consisted of Mrs. Vane inviting her friends over to dress up and eat and talk and talk and talk. Romilda spent a great deal of her childhood hearing all manner of gossip from her mother and her harem of neighboring Wizarding mothers. She delighted in watching the careful way the women acted around each other, how they would be all smiles and sugar to the quirky Mme Boudreau's face, but would tear her to shreds when she left. In the nicest possible way, of course.

When Romilda entered Hogwarts, she had a chip on her shoulder almost as big as Draco Malfoy's the year before her. Eleven-year old Romilda had never been away from home, but had a confident, breezy air about her that made even some of the older students take notice. The girl didn't particularly care which house she was sorted into; whichever one it was had to be the best, right? Gryffindor was called out, and Gryffindor in Romilda's mind had always been her first choice. Romilda passed all her classes with decent marks. If she had put her mind to it, she might've gotten better grades, but as it were Romilda had decided schoolwork was a chore; a chore she'd really rather not do if she had to. Her friends became a small, tight-knit clique of girls of which Romilda considered herself leader. She became the spitting image of her mother in behavior, spreading her social network into other houses (even though most Ravenclaws are total bookworms and most Hufflepuffs are pushovers and most Slytherins are just yucky), and never letting small setbacks in her conquest for popularity slow her down.

PERSONALITY Romilda can best be described as vain, judgmental, childish and egotistical. And that's the good side of her. Certainly one of the most mercilessly ambitious in her house, why Romilda wasn't placed in Slytherin is a mystery that even puzzles her sometimes when she's feeling particularly contemplative. Underneath her narcissistic and overconfident personality, the girl has a trademark Gryffindor Fierce heart. She's never turned down a dare, and she usually doesn't give a lick what people think of her, especially those who are "below" her. Fortunately for Romilda's ego, this includes most of the school. Rarely giving up on a goal, once Romilda makes her mind up about something, she's convinced she'll get it, no matter the odds. She sets her sights high, but never attempts anything she feels is out of her reach. This presents a problem, because most things she thinks are achievable are most definitely out of reach (read: Harry Potter). Romilda is not easily broken or beaten down. If, Merlin forbid, she fails at something, she brushes it off as something she wasn't really all that into in the first place and moves on. She has a very selective memory, and so any time that happens, she conveniently can't remember any of that, but she does know that Felicity Wodgeback and Curtis Fleegam were totally snogging by the greenhouses yesterday, even though Felicity swore to Geoffery she wouldn't cheat on him anymore after her caught her the third time. What were we talking about?

Around friends and people who have yet to be on the receiving end of one of her schemes, Romilda is quite likable. Her smiling eyes and long, dark hair give her an altogether nonthreatening look and she can certainly be charming and endearing when the mood is right, especially when it comes to the opposite sex. She can often be found giggling uncontrollably with her friends, or walking lazily about the common room, sipping on a butterbeer, looking for other people who look like they'd rather talk than study. Romilda loves attention in every way, good or bad, but preferably good. Public displays are perfectly fine, and public scandal is something she's completely all right with. She loves when people think she's older than she really is, though tantrums are something she's known for when things really don't go her way. Beneath it all, Romilda really is something of a romantic. She's had her fair share of boyfriends, but for all her self-assurance, she is still a little naïve in relationships. She often backs out when things start becoming what she'll say later is clinginess on the bloke's part, but was really her not knowing what to do and being, dare I say it, ashamed. She'd like for her life to be like a fairy tale, complete with doting prince, but instead of sitting around and dreaming of it, she goes about making her own story worth living. She can always alter the details later.

LIKES - Cute boys, fame, popularity, her friends, chatting, staying up late, spontenaeity, adventures, truth or dare, being pretty, chocolate, cats, summer, witch weekly, parties, flirting, strawberries, shopping, Hogsmeade, dressing up, useful charms, trends, herself.

DISLIKES - Nerds, uppity people who aren't her, studying, history of magic, getting in trouble for no reason, slobbery dogs, bugs, herbology, care of magical creatures, really fatty foods, slobs, windy days, snow, cold, being sick, winter, being bored, school, and homework.

ASTROLOGY

ARIES - The Gryffindor Aries is extremely idealistic, and has a tendency to fight hard for many causes - the more lost, the better. Gryffindors born under this sign will also have very short fuses, and can be expected to fight regularly with other students, over ethical questions or over anything else that makes a good excuse. Since Mars is a planet that encourages war games and competition and bursts of hard physical activity, there may be many Quidditch players born under these aspects. A Gryffindor Aries is an open book; a truth potion would never be needed on one, because they are hopelessly honest and open. These wizards will display uncanny charisma and leadership ability, and will be among the most popular within their class.

WALNUT TREE (The Passion) - unrelenting, often egotistic, aggressive, noble, broad horizon, unexpected reactions, spontaneous, unlimited ambition, no flexibility, difficult and uncommon partner, not always liked but often admired, ingenious strategist, very jealous and passionate, no compromise.

Current Mood: cheerful
Current Music: modest mouse - paper thin walls
