Catapults Name Their Captain....Or Do They?
The Caerphilly Catapults have announced that veteran and legacy player Carys Llewellyn will be riding the helm of captain as the season begins. This is a surprising pick as the latest shakeups in the Catapults' roster left fans to believe they were completely starting from scratch. Australian seeker and superstar Baz Courtney recently stole the starting spot from Vinny Gudgeon, who was swept up by the Falcons. Many speculated that Courtney would be taking the coveted Catapult captain spot, but those sources close to the team say that Courtney is only interested in two things: winning and himself.

"This might be a risky move," Quidditch analyst Kevin Widmore explains, "Llewellyn is just coming off more than a season of not being in action, and let's be honest---she still hasn't lost all the baby weight. How is she supposed to keep up with the rest of the team? They'd be smarter to go with Tristan Bardera, who has never not performed for the team---this may be his chance to show what he could really do."

With the trend in the Catapults franchise of shipping out what they don't think belongs, this move seems to be the latest step. If Llewellyn doesn't perform after giving her this responsibility, she'll most likely end up like former captain Griff Kirkham.

In any case, it's turning out to be a great season to watch, so stay tuned!

It looks like another one of the Harpies is losing her feathers, though that isn’t going to stop this bird from soaring! After several meetings between the Falcons’ and the Harpies’ managerial staff this past month, it is finally official that Anya Kalinnikov will be flying for Falmouth this upcoming season. With her contract having come to an end, it came as a shock to everyone that the long time Harpy decided to not sign on for another year.

“It was time for me to grow a new set of wings”, says Kalinnikov. “I was no longer satisfied with simply ‘soaring above the competition’. I am more looking forward to tearing up my competition with newly sharpened talons.”

This will be the first year Kalinnikov has played for any other team in the league, but she dons the colors of Falmouth starting June 1st.

In what appears to be the Catapults keeping true to their earlier statement of "no Catapult being safe," there has been another roster change announcement. Rose Knightely, first year starting chaser, has been demoted back to reserve as of effective immediately. Caerphilly spokesman Hamish Thorn did not give any further comment on the matter to this change.

Specific reasons as to why this happened range from last season's performance to her standard appearances in recent tabloids, which the team traditionally does not condone, and usually meets with classic silence. However, management has not announced her replacement, nor seemed inclined to, which does seem to give the fresh chaser a chance to reprove her worth before the first match of the season on June 1st.

With keeper Griffith Kirkham's captaincy stripped and beater Adrian Mattias' trade to United, is it only a matter of time before the hammer falls on each and every one of last season's starters?

Dragon Pox Outbreak!
St. Mungo's has reported an increase in patients being admitted with severe cases of dragon pox. Thirteen wizards and witches have been diagnosed with the disease in the past week and a half, and it appears that the pox is spreading at an alarming rate.

Dragon Pox is contagious and while there is a cure (developed by Gunhilda of Gorsemoor in 1601), it is imperative that the victim is treated immediately. If you come in contact with someone who has dragon pox, please use extreme caution. Symptoms take at least three days to fully reveal themselves, and by then the victim may have spread the pox throughout wherever they have visited. Your local apothecaries have temporary cures, but if a full blown case of Dragon Pox hits your home, please head to St. Mungo's for treatment so that the disease can be quarantined.

If symptoms are left alone for a period of time, dragon pox is still a very dangerous, and fatal disease. The elderly, children, and women who are pregnant should be very cautious about who they come in contact with in the next few weeks while the pox is contained.

Symptoms
• Bumps that can leave scars.
• Fever, weakeness, itching, nausea, headache, sore throat
• Hallucinations are known to occur
• Green-and-purple rash or lasting greenish tinge to skin.
• Sparks from nostrils with sneezing.
• From the initial diagnosis patients are quarantined for at least four days before being announced they are no longer contagious
• The greenish tinge lasts for the earliest two weeks, even if the patient is no longer contagious

KIRKHAM SACKED

For the last decade, the Caerphilly Catapults have taken to the pitch with keeper Griffith Kirkham at the helm, but next season that will no longer be the case.

"For nearly a century, the Caerphilly Catapults have been a force to be reckon with," were the first ominous words delivered by Caerphilly spokesman Hamish Thorn at the press conference called on Saturday morning. "We pride ourselves on having strong, loyal players that are both teammates and friends. Last season proved, however, that friendship does not win cups."

Silence overtook the crowd as the final statement was delivered: Griffith Kirkham has been stripped of his Captain status, but will stay on as team Keeper. The new team leader, however, remains a mystery.

"The decision came straight from the owner's box," Caerphilly's representation affirmed following the announcement of Kirkham's demise. "The performance of this franchise is declining and that can't be ignored." Does this mean more shakeups are ahead? "Kirkham was not the only Catapult on that pitch. None of them are safe."

Troy to Appleby!
We all knew it was coming! With last season being the final one of Holly Troy's contract with the Harpies and no Cup to show for it, it was only a matter of time before Troy made her way out of Holyhead. The Arrows are an interesting choice for the Chaser, who's played for the Irish National team twice and has been selected to the All-Star team the past four seasons. Not only will Troy be changing divisions, but the Arrows ended up in sixth place last year behind the Falcons---are these sharp shooters trying to reinvent themselves?

With an engagement and a new team, Troy seems to be off to a great start for the new season!

FIRST TRADE OF THE POST-SEASON
In the wake of United's close victory and the Catapult's unexpected short end in the playoffs, both teams have already made changes to their starting roster for next season. Reps from both teams have confirmed that ADRIAN MATTIAS has been traded for GEOFFREY BRAND, making this the first line-up change for both teams in over a year.

Both players could not be contacted for comment.

This is no doubt the first of many changes management across the board will be making in this post-season. Stay tuned in to see where your favorite players end up!
