Short and Sweet Pitch Side Report - Mid Game Kestrels vs. Cannons

"Exciting news from the Cannon's pitch of all places. Looks like Geoffery Brand is back in the game. With his cooperation in helping bring down the game fixing gambling ring, the British and Irish Quidditch League has lifted his suspension. Cannons, always desperate to get decent players on their side of the pitch seemed to think the risk of taking Brand on was worth it.

Though with the Kestrels currently leading 200-0, its doesn't seem that it will be enough to break the Cannon's record long losing streak. Perhaps with a few more practices, Brand and the rest of the Cannons will be able to pull together a team that can compete, but I don't expect much, even Summerby couldn't manage to pull up their tragic win percentage. I'll try to manage to grab a comment from Brand after the snitch is caught, but with the brush off I got before the match, I find it unlikely. This is Charlotte Sweeting reporting live from Kenmare."

The Quick SNITCH! Report

"Finn McLaggen here with your weekend quidditch update. Teams this week brought their O-game, maybe it's because they knew it'd be my first chance to report on their antics? Let's get down to it:

Arrows (190) vs. Kestrels (60)
Here we have Saoirse Mullet's eagerly awaited return to Appleby after her last minute decision to move to Kenmare. The Kestrels have been on fire, but an empty bench has not been able to douse the Arrows' flame. Captain Thomas McCormack is keeping the defending champs at the top of their game, and are the first team to break the thousand-point mark.

Bats (430) vs. Cannons (10)
Right, not much to talk about here. The Cannons didn't get shut out, I guess that's a good thing. Next.

Falcons (180) vs. Harpies (180)
The Falcons and Harpies managed the first tie of the season with Vinny Gudgeon making the snitch catch just as Nick Boot scores the goal against the Falcons' replacement keeper. Where art thou, Michal Conway? Your team seems lost without you.

Magpies (260) vs. Pride (50)
Adrian Mattias has his first victory as captain, and it comes against the Pride, where two of his starts defected from last season. Well, Lufkin didn't choose to leave, but he doesn't seem to be regretting the move. Arista Sykes seems confused in the air, maybe a leap from the floundering Pride would do her some good.

United (280) vs. Tornadoes (30)
Matt Summerby got his first chance at revenge against Iwan Quigley, the Irish seeker who nabbed the snitch from under him during this past World Cup. Can't say I was disappointed about that win, but Summerby swept in with a fury and the United steamrolled the Tornadoes. The 'Nadoes are looking a bit confused out there without Sumpter leading the way.

Wasps (30) vs. Wanderers (220)
It was a battle of the undefeated teams, but the Wanderers came out on top. Ludo Bagman seemed in a right state after the match; no one likes a sore loser, Bagman, get over it. Kendall Broadmoor's really stepping into his role as leader this season, and the rest of his team is rallying behind him.

Well, that's it for this week! Leave us a comment, you never know when your favorite player might pop in to agree or curse you out for your opinion! McLaggen, out!

And it looks like he finally has! Let's all have a collective AWWWWW!

We can indeed confirm that this is Matt's younger brother CALEB SUMMERBY, who was adopted fifteen long years ago from the orphanage the two boys were left in after their parents were murdered. What a wonderful ending to a tragic beginning! We're so happy for the two brothers, but some people aren't as thrilled as we here at the Tattler are!

Overheard while on lunch with her brother, DELILAH SPINNET, Matt's girlfriend of nineish months, let her true feelings out about the matter.

"I don't like it. The whole thing is weird," she said of Matt and Caleb's loving and growing relationship. "All of a month of knowing him and he's moving in? It's dumb, right?" Now, now, Miss. Spinnet, that's not very nice! How would you feel if Matt talked about your long-lost brother that way? She was even caught saying that she didn't like Matt's brother, but we're sensing a bit of jealousy?!

"I HATE ALL OF THIS!" See? Super jealous.

"He won't even tell him he's a wizard, let alone this famous quidditch player. I don't even understand."

We don't understand either, Delilah!

McLaggen and Boot spent three years together on the Puddlemere United, bringing home two league cups.

"I'm very excited to get back into the game, even if it's not on a broomstick," McLaggen said to the press. "You couldn't keep me away for long!" Rumors had been swirling that McLaggen was preparing to take on a managerial role, but the former world-class seeker has stated that he'd rather watch and talk about the game than deal with the the business aspect. "That would take out all the fun, wouldn't it?"

Boot is more than excited about coming back to the game. His wife, Nicole Bardera-Boot, is a starting chaser for the Harpies, and providing commentary for their matches is what he's anticipating the most.

"She says I'm not allowed!" he said, causing a great laugh with the journalists. "But I'm going to get in there, don't you worry. How could I not?! I have so many stories to add, it'll be great for the the ratings!"

Both McLaggen and Boot have stated that one of the main reasons for retiring was their family, and that their new positions at the WWN allow them to stay in touch with the game they love so much and give them time for their wives and children.

How do you think these former players will do? After a brilliant season, you would think the team, captained by Thomas McCormack, would have smooth sailing to start off the next season. The departure of Saoirse Mullet was surprising to many readers, but the sight of a reserves player and the lack of seeker Andrea Johnson on Opening Day was unexpected to many.

The substitution was one that ended well for Ludo Bagman and his Wasps, but not so much for the Arrows. In a crushing blow to start the season, the Arrows fell to the Wasps, 330-150. This weekend fared better against the Cannons, with the Arrows claiming a 360-20 victory. The Arrows cite the lack of their star seeker as a stomach bug, and backed their full confidence in their reserves system to overcome the challenges being presented in this season.

Our sources have spotted Ms. Johnson at St. Mungo's, but she definitely wasn't in the virus and maladies department.
Dearest readers, have we a present for you. Spring is in the air, and that, of course, means wedding season will soon be on its way. And do we have an exclusive for you. We were hoping for a wedding date before we announced that our favorite quidditch star was getting hitch, leaving us all here at the tattler offices very sad, but we just can't keep it a secret any longer!

That's right, Seth Wadcock is getting married. Again. And the lucky lady? Well just in case you didn't believe he was dating his ex-wife, let us officially confirm to you that the former Mrs. Wadcock is reclaiming her title. Wadcock told us himself of his plans to propose to the one and only Savannah Davies, and we have pictures of the ring to prove it. Obviously, she said yes (who would say no?) And don't you fret, lovely readers, we were promised a wedding this time around.

We wish the couple the best (and its bound to have better results as a certain former teammate, is just that, former). And who knows, rumor has it may be a double wedding in the works. These best friends seem to be co-dependent enough for such things.

Excited for the wedding? Bored of repeats? Either way, it is time to reminisce readers! Tell us your favorite Wadcock story as we mourn this wonderful bachelor.

MID PRE-SEASON REPORT: CAERPHILLY CATAPULTS

After finishing a respectful sixth place in the league last season, it is surprising to see management deal with, if this reporter did not know better considering Caerphilly's reputable and traditional past, what appears to be a rookie and broken-down team. Familiar faces from last season's line-up have become scarce, as not one of those players has graced the air in the past couple of days. The mid pre-season report for the Caerphilly Catapults is as follows;

An ill-timed trade has left the Catapults with no discernible starting Seeker, but it does seem that in the meantime tryouts within the pool of reserves is being held.

English Keeper Scarlett Rabnott was seen practicing last week, but now since has been grounded due to equilibrium misalignment involving a rogue bludger. When asked directly about the incident, Rabnott had to say, "I hate being off the pitch, but it'll be worth it in the long run. I don't want to injure myself any further. We're a strong team and we'll be ready for the season opener, there's no doubt about that." She expects to make a full recovery in time for opening day.

Catapults Management has begun its usual trial and error pairing system in the hopes of finding new potential duos that compliment each other, but tensions among the players look high. There have been multiple instances shouting, foul play, and rogue bludgers afoot in the stadium, one in particular resulting in the grounding of Keeper Rabnott. No potential prospects for who will be named this season's starting Beaters have been made clear.

Chasers' practice has stopped completely. Tristan Bardera, Rose Knightley, and Carys Llewellyn have virtually disappeared from team rank staples they once were for the past three years. Llewellyn, Captain, has displayed a significant lack of presence on the pitch, only at random showing up on the ground and for short periods of time before retreating into the stands and away from the press boxes. Bardera's presence has been more significant, though unfortunately moot, as the Prophet can confirm Bardera has already been suspended for unsportsmanlike conduct from the Catapults' first match of the season, and will be on probation for the next five matches following. Knightley has been no where to be found. When asked about Knightley's lack of presence and current role on the team during a general press announcement yesterday, Catapults' Manager replied with a curt, "Our players' health life is none of your concern."

Regardless of the state of the team now, it is important to keep in mind that the Catapults are no strangers to picking themselves up and turning their fortune around. Last season saw a six-place pick up from an abysmal twelfth standing. It is entirely possible that this chaos is business as usual, or, a forbearing dark cloud of what's to come. It is too early to tell.

I know I might not look it, but I'm really getting to be quite a daft old man. I'll still be working with the team on a consultative basis, for when the young bucks need a good riding to show them what's what."

Despite Sumpter's cheeky attitude, rumours are flying that Sumpter's long-time partner, Griffith Kirkham, demanded that he retire because of allegations that he had been fraternizing with potential new talent. The question on everyone's mind, though, is who will be selected to replace Tutshill's iconic Captain? They will certainly have grand shoes to fill.

What are your predictions, readers?

No, no, we're not going to bore you with logistics and snitch dive speeds---there's other radio shows for that.

Our eyes were glued on the Catapults' pitch, where their lovely-got-a-few-screws-loose captain was spotted wearing a very interesting jersey! Don't worry, it was still that hideous scarlet and neon green combo those folks in Caerphilly love and adore!

So, how was it different, you say? Well, emblazoned on the back was none other than the captain's maiden name of 'Llewellyn,' which was quite the shock for our reporters here! It was a big deal for the legacy player to put her husband's last name on her jersey, so it's only made us wonder...is there trouble in Parkin Paradise?

We'll get to the bottom of this latest development! While still not complete, and most likely will not be until the earliest Monday morning, a major position has been filled.

Today the Magpies announced the signing of Adrian Mattias, formerly of Puddlemere United, who filling in the role Beater and Captain for the team in the upcoming season.

"It's a great honor," Mattias spoke as the press conference in Montrose earlier this morning.

When asked about how he feels concerning his arrival to Montrose, he simply responded, "I was born in Montrose, and I have been living here for a couple of years now with my wife and children. So I am very honored to be asked home again and hope I will be able uphold the Magpies' tradition of excellence set before me."

Mattias will have big shoes to fill, as both his father and sister, Hamish and Odette MacFarlan, lead the team to championship titles while at the teams' helm themselves.

You can expect to see Mattias and the rest of the Magpies this June at the beginning of the season!

Three years since a publicized attack.

Yet, where is the reward for the Aurors who fought so valiantly to protect us? Not a word spoken of them since either. Instead, more often than not, they are shove aside to desk jobs when they can no longer handle the fieldwork that took so much from them. No longer useful to the M.L.E., the thanks they get is being carefully hidden away so no one has to remember the horrors that once plagued us.

It’s outrageous the lack of credit these men and women get. Sure every Halloween we celebrate the fall of he-who-shall-not-be-named. Celebrate the boy who lived, but Harry Potter was a baby. Why don’t we celebrate those who were tortured trying everything in their power to stop you-know-who as well? Who gave everything to fight the same fight. The Ministry can’t even do a proper job of helping them cope with the fact the war is over.

This needs to change. The Ministry needs to help our Aurors. We need to help our Aurors. We can’t just pretend the war never happened. We can’t forget those who volunteered to fight for us, because we never know just when we’ll need them again.

What do you think readers? His agent, Phoebe Smethwyck, held a small press conference in Venice, Italy, where Comstock is reportedly living at the moment.

"Mr. Comstock has made the very difficult decision to step away from the quidditch pitch.
WHERE IN THE WORLD IS LIDDIE LYNCH?

After five solid years of noteworthy presence in the fashion world, designer LIDDLE LYNCH has seemingly disappeared off the face of the earth! Liddie Lynch, pictured above at her Spring 1984 show, has not produced a new line of clothing in over a year, making fashion critics and contemporaries scratch their heads as to where, and why, their talented peer disappeared. Has Liddie Lynch hung up her robes and retired from the fashion world, never to be heard of again? Rumor has it that she has returned to the UK, though even our most avid fashion followers here at the Tattler Offices could not come up with a reason as to why she has not produced anything in the past year, which included two major collection seasons, or where she could have gone.

When owled, no response was sent from the previously-believed headquarters of the fashion house in Austria.

Liddie Lynch is known for pieces that are detail-oriented and push modern wizard wear toward elegant luxury. This World Cup has been one that will be talked about for years and years to come!

True to their word, IRELAND and ENGLAND came to New York to show the world who really owned the game of quidditch.

IRELAND!

The defending champs roared into life and won themselves the cup! The match came down to the snitch, as if it were written in the stars. Chasers Tristan Bardera of England and Caden Flint of Ireland tied for most goals with seven a piece, but even with their masterful displays, the goal points kept the two teams tied. The tides turned when Irish Beater Richard Thorough knocked England's star-seeker Matthew Summerby straight off his broomstick with a bludger between the shoulder blades. The timing was perfect, as Ireland's Seeker Iwan Quigley not a second later spotted the snitch and swept it up easily.

What a tournament it's been! Ireland went undefeated and deservedly so!

FINAL SCORE
260 - 110

After party for all of the tournament's participants, family, and friends will be held in the world famous Central Park! Let's hear it one more time for the wizarding world's most magical game!

A first for this tournament, the team that caught the snitch did not win the match!

As reported earlier in the day, Scotland's keeper Finley Calhoun had been ill the past two days, but had been cleared to play. Well, Ireland took advantage of the keeper's dizziness and flew literal circles around him. Some of the aerial moves made by Irish Chasers Holly Troy and Saoirse Mullet could be turned into works of art with how synchronized they flew through the air. With their keeper out of sort's Scotland's captain and lead beater Thomas McCormack did a fantastic job with keeping Irish Seeker Iwan Quigley at bay. Quigley was spotted in a near spiral that had at first looked like a snitch sighting, but turned out to be that he had completely lost his balance on the broomstick after a volley of hits.

But Scotland could only score two goals against the fully focused Irish squad. Veteran Odette MacFarlan waited as long as she could to grab the snitch, but with Quigley within reach she had no choice but to snatch the snitch from under him. Ireland advances to the finals, but Scotland goes down in history for putting up the battle of a lifetime.

FINAL SCORE:

170 - 180

ENGLAND vs. JAPAN

This match was full of high-speed chases and techniques unique to each team's form of play! To say we were on the edge of our seats would be a lie; everyone on the stadium was on their feet the entire four-hours!

The England chasers kept up pace with Japans spritely trio, but the teams volleyed back and forth for most of the time. Both Keepers were slammed with quaffles, English Keeper Scarlett Rabnott sliding off her broom after a rocket of a shot from Japan's Tanaka Mizuki. England's Felicia Bulstrode showed off her strength with a double-whammy of a shot, knocking one bludger into a Japanese chaser and mere moments later. England's really relying on the ladies this tournament, but fear not, their seeker Matt Summerby, who's never played at this level of game before in his career, kept on Takahashi's broomtails the entire match. The two seekers mad a death-defying dive down the center of the pitch, causing all the hold their breath in anticipation. But, the red and white prevailed!

Oh, the English red and white!

FINAL SCORE:

330 - 160

So there you have it! A. Match!

Not only did we see one of the lowest scoring match of the tournament (not a bad thing, definitely not a bad thing!), but we also had the most dramatic of scenes when the two seekers, Matt Summerby (England) and Ana Beatriz Carvalho (Brazil) collided head on in the middle of the pitch! Both landed like meteorites into the grass below, but both refused to seek medical attention. There was a mad scramble for their broomsticks and they were up in the air again in moments. Good thing, too, as Rose Knightley managed to get past Brazil's goal blockade, breaking the shut out and unnerving Brazil just long enough for Summerby to catch the snitch and secure the victory.

Other great moments: Captain Wendy Midgen hanging by her ankles to swoop the quaffle out of Felipe Gomez's hands! The look on his face was priceless! Seth Wadcock performed a majestic behind the back bludger hit that knocked two of the Brazilian chasers off their seats. England's pulling out all the stops!

FINAL SCORE:

180 - 20

AUSTRALIA vs. JAPAN

In a match with no European teams, Japan takes the win!

Seeker Baz Courtney looked as if he was lost in the lights of the stadium, unsteady on his broomstick all night for reasons unknown to us. Perhaps too much time out celebrating St. Patrick's? It didn't take long for the seemingly impenetrable defense of Japan to rile up the seeker even more, and their offense took advantage. Australia didn't seem to know which direction they were flying without their captain leading the way, and it took chaser Adelaide Kelly nearly two hours before scoring Australia's first goal. But that would be all the Aussies would get, as Japan took no mercy and racked up as many points as they could before their seeker spotted the snitch.

Japan's coming into the semi-finals after a complete annihilation of Australia. Will their intensity keep them in the running for the cup?

FINAL SCORE:

10 - 430

On St. Patrick's Day, did you really think that Team Ireland was going to lose?

For nearly three hours, the two teams battled it out, keeping the scored tied until Wales' Andrea Johnson spotted the snitch! But it seemed like everything went according to Ireland's plan. Charlie Spinnet blocked what would be the go-ahead goal with a spectacular double eight loop, Joey Jenkins knocked Carys Parkin straight off her broom as she attempted a rebound, Saoirse Mullet and Holly Troy's double team spun Cadfan Priddy 180 degrees, and the seeker with a big broomstick seat to fill, Iwan Quigley, seemingly struck out of nowhere and snatched the snitch straight from under Johnson's grasp. The celebration was of course spectacular, with fireworks and golden coins shooting out of the sky and into the crowd. What a day to be Irish!

FINAL SCORE:

300 - 150

SCOTLAND vs. ITALY

Sorry ladies, it looks like Matteo Basili won't be gracing the pitches of New York any more this tournament. You've got Team Scotland to thanks for that!

The two powerhouses battled it out in the air with the most amount of fouls this tournament's seen! Thirteen for Scotland and a whopping twenty-one for Italy! Their brutal tactic seemed to be working as their goal count continued to grow, but with Thomas McCormack and Rafe Kirke utilizing the Dopplebeater Defence a record four times in the match, they cleared the path for seeker Odette MacFarlan to make a once-in-a-lifetime (maybe?!) completely vertical catch that stretched nearly one-hundred feet over stadium! Perhaps she reached Empire State Building heights? They're still trying to figure it out!

Scotland's got something to prove, and they're not backing down from anyone!

FINAL SCORE:

340 - 200

Okay, I provided the HTML for the quick profiles for your players, which can be posted in the comment section here so that family, friends, and fans can comment and have fun :D Take your time with posting them, and if you have inspiration, post some for the non-played characters that you named <s>Matteo Basili we're looking at YOU!</s>

Images are supposed to be from interviews, so try not to be super fashion shoot/super model with them (size is 350 x 400). Photo call shoots work great :D

I also recommend filling it out in your CDJ first because I know how much one wrong bit of html can ruin your day LMFAO
