01. Do not type in any sort of slang unless it is appropriate to the time period and location. This means no netspeak or 'fo shizzles', and that no one is 'ballin'. That sort of talk is alright for the OOC, but it does not belong in Britain of the 1970's-80's.

02. We would also appreciate correct grammar. No one is perfect, we're living examples of that, so no one here expects you to be either, but major and recurring errors are under no circumstances okay for this game. They distract from what you are actually trying to write, and in the interest of keeping up a good quality game, you will be notified if we see problems. YOU SHOULD ALWAYS SPELL AND GRAMMAR CHECK BEFORE YOU POST ANYTHING!

03. You must be active. All journals in character must be updated at least once every two weeks either with a first person entry or through a third person roleplay in order to stay in the game. If extenuating circumstances stop you from updating, be sure to contact the mods immediately or you will receive a notice of concern. If you do not respond to that, and you continue to be inactive, you will be swept without the benefit of appeal.

04. All characters MUST remain canon, especially main characters. Thus, James cannot suddenly run off with Narcissa and elope, and Lucius Malfoy cannot decide to retire from being a Death Eater and decide to start his own fun park. You get the idea.

05. Slash is enjoyable, but please, only when you thoroughly develop your character and the plot line. Lily cannot wake up one day and gleefully declare to Alice, "Hey! Guess what, I'm gay and I think Emmeline is HOT!", nor are you allowed to simply make up a character so that they can have a slash plot line. We require that you have more to your character than that--no one's life is all about being homosexual!

06. You must have a journal created before you apply. In the case that you are inheriting a journal from another player, you must have made the transfer prior to application.

07. If you have problems/issues with another person in the game, please privately tell the mods, and do so immediately. OOC drama is never fun and we will always try our best to use the most diplomatic method to solve the problem at hand and keep each party happy. Please, please do NOT try to solve OOC drama yourself, as oftentimes it just ends up getting worse, and do not be afraid to come to us to tell us your concerns or issues with another player. We won't be insulted no matter who the issue is with, as long as you're speaking what's on your mind.

08. OOC comments are encouraged to be kept to AIM or the OOC community, however if the circumstances denote that you must put OOC comments into a roleplay thread, please put them under an lj-cut on the bottom of your post, in size 1 font. We would like them to remain as unobtrusive as possible.

09. All journal entries and roleplays should be kept unlocked and open to the public. Posts in the OOC community, however, are allowed to be locked at the player's discretion due to the private nature of some items posted in that community.

10. We don't believe it needs to be mentioned, but nonetheless--we have a NO TOLERANCE policy for Mary Sues and Gary Stus. If you can't tell if your character is one, or you don't know what one is, you can find out here.

11. No god-modding or power-playing. Enough said. If you don't know if you're doing one of these things or not, or if you don't know what they are, you can find out here.

12. When composing entries, your character can choose to make them (or parts of them) public to everyone, locked (warded) to a certain group of people/person/themselves, or locked against (hexed) a certain group of people/person. You should do this by using an lj-cut each time your entry changes wards or hexes to keep things clean (inside the lj-cut as well). Characters who are hexed out of a certain part of an entry or not warded into a certain part of an entry CAN NOT under ANY circumstances read what is under those cut tags.

13. Only one RP game per journal is allowed. The journal you create now will be specifically for [info]valesco ONLY. You are not allowed to join icon communities or ad communities with your roleplay journals--this is what an OOC journal is for!

14. You must add everyone in the game to each of your characters' friends list, no matter if they are actually friends with some of those characters or not. You do not add personal player journals, ONLY character journals! This can be accomplished easily using the friend add button.

15. You may not kill off yours or anyone else's character on a whim. These, and such other major plots, MUST ALWAYS BE RUN THROUGH BY THE MODS. Failure to do so, and you risk being booted from the game--this may seem harsh, but this is a major rule to break.

16. When you start a roleplay thread in [info]valesco or [info]valesco_history, you must indicate who the RP is for. For example, if the you are playing Lucius and want Narcissa to come in, you must put [ Narcissa ] in the subject line of the thread. If you make a post in which multiple characters will be interacting, it's highly suggested that you and the other players make a posting order. For example, if Lily, Alice, and Frank are all playing in the same thread, the order could be Frank, Lily, and then Alice.

17. If your roleplay contains or has the potential to contain NC-17 content, please put it under an lj-cut and notify players in BIG BLOCK LETTERS LIKE THIS somewhere above the cut.

18. There is no limit to how many characters you are allowed to take, however you must run each character addition by the mods first. In general, we do not ask players to apply again after they have been accepted once, but we reserve the right to ask you to re-apply if we think it would benefit you or if we have concerns about your proposed character. We also reserve the right to reject any character proposition you bring to us if we think there is a problem or if we don't believe you can handle the character load.

19. Remember to HAVE FUN! This is just a game and we should be having as much fun as we can here playing and getting to know one another!
