Hey all,

we registered a new domain for Scribbld -- Scribbld.com so please update your links, bookmarks, etc accordingly. we'll be keeping the .net version for at least another 2 years. The DNS propagation should already be completed by now.

We’d like to apologize for that downtime. it was a lot longer then we had expected. It was not related to the domain change but to some packages getting updated/removed on the server which weren’t supposed to be. we’ve figured out what happened and corrected it. Please post any outstanding issues you see to our support queue and we’ll work on them as soon as possible. Again, we do apologize for that downtime.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

morgan & jimmy

It's currently located out in a data center out in Scottsdale, AZ and has ben provided to us by CrystalTech to whom we're very grateful. It should be a lot more stable then over the last couple years and as with all of our servers we'll be constantly monitoring it from all aspects (disk space, TCP connections, MySQL server, Ethernet connections, etc...).

At this time we see no issues with the new server, however we did notice that there may be an issue with AOLs email servers, however this issue is not on our end and you may need to contact them for further support.
Hey all!!

Sorry about all this downtime lately. As mentioned one of the main power lines into our biulding got messed up, basically what they told me was that it corroded so it pretty much disintergrated haha. That line has been replaced but in the process they managed to cut the phone line...awesome right?! I mean every that could possibly get messed up does....so now we've got this ghetto ass arrangement, they've strung this CAT5 cable from the telephone pole through the woods and trees and all...and hooked that up for the time being. At some unknown date they're going to bury that line and hopefully during then will not screw up anything else.

Again, I'm really sorry about this all. I'm just as annoyed as you all.

This of course means more outage since they'll probably be disconnecting the CAT5 line running now to install something more permanent. I'll post more information as it comes in...

As usual, I try to keep up with http://scribbldstatus.tumblr.com - but I haven't lately...I'll be more on top of that, I also randomly tweet about issues on a personal Twitter account - jimmyb - but don't rely on just that haha.

Thanks everyone!

Account Renaming - FREE For the Next 7 Days!!!

Hey everyone!!

We've been hard at work trying to get rename tokens working. We think we've finally got it, so that's why we're giving you the chance to rename your Scribbld username. There are some things you should consider when renaming though:

You can rename to:
•	An unregistered username.
•	The username of a deleted and purged journal.
•	The username of an account you own, as long as the email addresses and passwords match.

That said visit the renaming page and have at it!! We've also finally purged deleted accounts, so those user names are available too!!

After the 7 days, we'll be charging $10 for a rename token. We're still working to get the actual token bit working, so enjoy the free "token" while it lasts!!

UPDATE: It looks like if you're an Early Adopter and you rename to a new username you stay as an early adopter, so it looks like you keep whatever account type you're on regardless of the type the account name has that you're renaming too.

Example:

You are an Early Adopter and rename to a new account. You keep your Early Adopter account.
You are an Early Adopter and rename to an Early Free User account name. You stay as an Early Adopter.
You are an Early Free User and rename to an Early Account name. You stay as an Early Free user.

Really this is just account renaming, not account typing changing.

Thanks!!!

Today we lost power and all but the main database server came back up. After investigating we found out the the disk drives had gotten corrupted. We fixed them as best as we can but we'll be needing to purchase at least 2 new drives and very soon.

Thanks for your patience!!

Greetings users!

We're currently experiencing some mail server issues. Apparently something got into the system and is sending a massive amount of emails, and our ISP has closed down the port to the system. We're currently looking into the issue. At this time you may notice a delay in comment notifications and other emails!!

Thanks!

Hey all, we'll be pulling the database server offline this coming Monday for approximately an hour to run some software updates on the system. I shouldn't expect it to take the full hour, but better to allocate the extra time just incase!

The update will start at 9am and run until 10am EST.

Thanks!

Paid Account Changes

We've made some changes to the paid account structure. In order for people to purchase Extras (extra user pics) you'll need to have a paid account. We recommend that people purchase a year long paid account if you're going to get the extra user pics since they run for a year. If you were to purchase a 3 month paid account and 100 extra user pics, they would only be good for 3 months as they're only valid while you have an active paid account.

This change also means that instead of gaining 25 userpics (from the normal 75 paid to 100 total), you'll gain 100 or 200 (for upto 175 or 275 userpics).

Thanks!
