A little late getting to this on my part, but I blame school.

Here's a brief lowdown on Arielle.

She's seventeen, and is currently the ward of Alex. She ran away from an abusive home when she was fifteen, and fell into a gang of teen runaways called the Pushers, who specialized in (mostly) petty thefts and other small crimes, due to experimental drugs given to them by the guy running the whole show, David. When Arielle took the drugs, however, they triggered her dormant metahuman gene, giving her the power of the shadows. David began to use Arielle for more "important" missions, and when Arielle wanted out, he threatened to have her killed. Arielle continued to do work for David, until she broke into Alex's apartment one fateful night. Alex helped Arielle get out of the Pushers for good and took her in as her ward.

Some support that I'd like for Arielle....

A schoolmate that she's kind of close too (Arielle is extremely secretive about her past, and doesn't have very many close friends, a possible love interest, a teacher that she's fairly close too, and a rival (either male or female) from school.

Support for Lucy:
Tom Willoughby – Born in Stamford Linconshire England. He went to Eton and eventually Oxford where he studied medieval history. He went on to teach at Harvard in the United States. There he met and fell in love with a girl named Winifred Saunders. They married and had a daughter named Caroline. Eventually Tom accepted a job at Tulane university teaching history when Caroline was just five. He became fast friends with Dr. Wilfred Broussard a fellow professor at Loyola University. His wife passed away and Tom moved with his daughter Caroline and granddaughter Lucy. Tom dotes upon Lucy and proceeds to tell Caroline what Lucy needs.

His favorite pastimes include hanging out at the local coffee shop with Wilfred and hitting on the waitresses and arguing historical points with Wilfred.

Support for Jason Jones
Amelia “Penny” Pennington – Penny is the middle and invisible child of a wealthy New England family. Her older sister Clarissa is the star cheerleader, star athlete, and good student. Her younger brother is the boy of the family and the one that is being groomed to follow in their father’s footsteps. Their father is a wealthy high end company lawyer who spends more time out of the house than in. Their mother is a housewife who spends her day at the spa and campaigning for well known issues and charities.

Penny is the quiet child and a tomboy. With her parents’ attention diverted she’s learned to fend for herself at an early age. She can cook relatively well, knows how to get around the city, and has a black belt in kenpo karate.

She doesn’t like anything girly and can usually be found outside in the good weather months and can be found holed up in her room with a book when the weather is bad. She hates wearing dresses, anything pink, hates anything she deems “girly” but secretly likes getting her hair done at a salon. She loves reading, following sports teams and playing sports like baseball and football. She loves NASCAR and monster trucks and tries to hide this from people.
She has been best friends with Jason Jones since elementary school and has developed a huge crush on him. She plays disinterested and aloof about him, but is always watching him when he isn’t looking.

Sal

Sorry I missed this process before.

Sal is John Smith's 143-year-old (equal to '14-ish') cousin. Sal's mother sent Sal to Earth believing the new environment could help Sal deal with restlessness issues.

Sal has less than eight years left to pick a gender, and so continues to take advantage of the fresh perspectives on the subject found on Earth as part of the decision-making process.

Sal is not cut out for public or even private school, but studies at home and attends weekly violin lessons.

So far, Sal has a shiftlet companion named Mu -- a bucket or bowl for whom is likely emblazoned with the Greek letter in question.

Jacob is 17 years old and starting his senior year of high school. His parents were super villains. Because his father tried to murder him he lives with his uncle and has to cope with the possibility of being immortal from how he was almost murdered.

He is the student of the Baltimore Witch and ties to keep his friends from knowing about that fact.

I'd love to see his uncle or his parents show up. Friends from school, a rival at school, or a girl for him to have a crush on would all be pretty awesome.

Vendetta: Tom Smith

Mini-Bio:

Tom was a teenage runaway. His life before the age of 13 is a mystery to all save himself. He attempted to pick the pocket of Vengeance's alter ego, which didn't go so well, but Vengeance took pity on him. Adopting him as her ward and training him both in standard schooling and in vigilante work, after three years of training, he became Vendetta. He has worked for the last year, approximately, as a sidekick to Vengeance. Though he's skilled in combat, his primary strength is in stealth and disguise, working well as an undercover agent for the older hero.

Possible Support Cast:

An "Alfred/Jarvis"-type for both Vendetta and Vengeance.
A tutor. Tom didn't have any formal schooling before he was taken in by Vengeance. He needed tutors to help him catch up. While he's a quick study, he's still got private tutors.
A schoolmate or friend. Tom does go to school -- though it's a private school, paid for by Vengeance.
Other possibilities include people he's rescued but wants to check in on sometimes, or, if you want to get darker, some of the people from his life from before he was taken in by Vengeance (probably people he rescued, but still), who could show up in his life now. This is not for the faint-of-heart, however. His backstory is just about as dark and gritty as it gets.
I'm also open to other ideas.

Aliens and Empires

I'll be posting here from time to time to start giving people info on bad guys out there, setting info, etc. Because this immediately affects a couple of the characters, or gives info on them anyway, I'm going to start with the currently set knowledge on major players on the cosmic scene:

Once a vast empire ruled by a vastly powerful telepath called the Hive Queen, these insectoid aliens were scattered from their collective when the Rellurites killed the Hive Queen. Some lesser queens have formed their own colonies, turning them into crime syndicates and other lesser versions of mini-empires, while many other Swarmlings have gone independent.
They are intelligent, resistant to telepathy except their own, and can communicate silently with other swarm nearby. They have no conventional morals beyond loyalty to a hive if they belong to one, and will die to protect a queen they have adopted. They lift 10-20 tons on average, depending on what type they are - worker, warrior, etc. with more and more specialized variants showing up all the time. They are also resistant to most injury.
The biggest problem is that their tendencies as swarming imperialists and scavangers has led to them becoming the galaxy's worst criminals. Con artists, thieves, pirates, brigands, thugs - you name it. Without a hive, individual swarm are almost never craftsmen or service industry workers - those are roles they only develop/specialize into when part of a society. So if you see one out and about, they're usually engaged in some less than moral/legal means of surviving.

2. Rellurites -
For most of their history, the Rellurites lived on a single planet, with a bizarre religion speaking of them being descended from ancient gods and spanning the stars. When a Swarm ship crashed on the planet Rell, they managed to adapt the technology, and got out into the stars... again. It turned out they had been banished to Rell by a mysterious race of interdimensional guardians to keep them somewhat in check, because each Rellurite is a powerhouse able to match up with a warship of most races. (think Daxamites/Kryptonians) when they are not exposed to the low level radiation of Rell.
They reproduce slowly, and while they have built an empire, their population has expanded only very slightly over that that occupied the planet Rell. As such, their imperial structure usually involved half a dozen Rellurites in any population as royalty and governors, with millions or billions of members of other species for every Rellurite.
Most Rellurites are bastards. Their system of government is reasonably fair mostly just in that there's only a few of them compared to anyone else in their vast empire, and they do not need to eat, drink or breathe, so keeping them happy is relatively easy - but they're definitely focused on their own happiness first. There is also the matter that while they rarely sleep, every Rellurite must undergo about a 4 hour period once a week during which they are completely helpless and cannot wake up - so it pays to keep some friends and loyalists around and not upset planetary populations /too/ much. For the most part, think Romans at the pre-decadence height of power.
After defeating the Swarm, they have not been posed many other major threats, leaving them to expand slowly ever since.

3. Shifters - Friendly people who are telepathic among their own. Talk to Kate and Beth for more info. So far, they are well outside Rellurite borders and not in any immediate danger, but they do have problems with rogue Swarm.

Powers: Shen is a empath and a very low level telepath.
Skills:
Martial Arts: Keishinkan Karate (3rd degree black belt), Akido (1st degree black belt), Judo (green belt), Kenjutsu (sword), Northern Shaolin style of kung fu (brown belt), and various weapons
Empathy - Shen can pick up the strong emotions of the people in close proximity.
Telepathy –Shen has a low level telepathy that allows him to pick up his enemies thoughts and anticipate their next move.
Chi Focus –
Shatter Objects - dim mak or 'the vibrating palm', basically destroy an object's chi, destroying something beyond their strength - like punching through a brick wall after spending a couple minutes in meditation and focus on it.
Resist telepathy/mind control and other psychic phenomena
Continuing to act through mind over body when badly hurt or affected by something
Martial Arts awareness - 'see' 360 around them, as well as awareness of ghosts, invisible beings, etc. through a semi-mystical awareness by perceiving the chi and flow of chi around them.

Equipment - Katana and wakizashi

History:
Shen was born in a small village in Japan and a son of an old Samurai family. He grew up helping out around the small family farm and learning the precepts and tenets of Bushido. Shen started studying martial arts at the age of four, studying at least two disciplines at a time.

By the age of nine he had earned his first black belt in Keishinkan karate. He continued his studies in various disciplines and earned higher and higher belts.

When he was sixteen his parents died and he was sent to his aunt and uncle’s farm outside of Paso Robles in the United States. Shen worked for his aunt and uncle. He took a part time job at the local general store stocking the shelves, sweeping up and making deliveries to the people in on the farms outside of town.

Shen was delivering groceries to a small farm outside of Paso Robles when he encountered a very large dog at the gates. Shen wasn’t scared and easily made friends with the dog, allowing him access to the property to deliver the groceries. Hayden asked him to do her a favor and when Shen discovered she was looking for help on the farm, he offered his services. He's been working for her for the past year.

Shen could use but not limited to: Best friend, aunt, uncle, cousin(s), potential girlfriend, etc

Bio - Jason Jones

Per Stacy's suggestion, I'm posting my sidekick bio here.

This is Jason Jones, aka Kid Patriot. His full bio is in his user info, but I'll touch on some of the highlights:

1. He's an alien whose escape pod crash landed on Earth when he was an infant. He was taken in by Jack Jones - the Patriot, a Superman-esque (in powers) human hero who has been active since WWII.
2. Jason now knows his species, but didn't for most of his life. He's Rellurite - the species of ultra-powered aliens who have carved out the biggest known empire in the universe. Most Rellurites are known bastards. (more info on Rellurites in his bio, or ask - they're one of 3 known important alien races)
3. Because Jack's identity is a matter of public record, there was deemed to be no point to Jason keeping a secret identity. Everyone who wishes to knows he is the Kid Patriot.
4. He attends an expensive private school in the Boston area. Public school was considered, but it was thought he would get too much attention from the press, classmates, etc., so he goes to school where they have gates, private security, and a lot of children who are used to celebrity families.
5. He really is as patriotic as he seems, despite his alien origins, and very enthusiastic about being a super hero. No one coerced him into wearing red, white and blue and taking on the role of Jack's sidekick - he wanted to do it.
6. Despite being highly patriotic, he usually comes across as very much 'Boston Patriot' - including being openly tolerant of minorities (his stance - he's the only Rellurite on Earth, makes him the ultimate local minority), gays, etc. Despite this, he has a strict policy of not advocating any social or political agenda or candidate publicly.
7. His biggest hobby is music. Among Rellurite abilities - they do not breathe. They have an unusual organ which allows them to produce what others hear as sound (even in deep space) instead of using lungs, voice box, etc. This allows them to decide what their voice sounds like, and indeed, reproduce any sound they've heard, or alter their voice at will.
Most members of the race do this to make their voices booming and echoing, suitable for ultra-powerful space dictators. Jason is mostly soft-spoken, but he often duplicates the sounds of his music - vocalist, instruments and all. To say he's a 'good singer' doesn't begin to cover it.
8. Jack Jones owns and operates a gym and training facility (based loosely upon DC's Grants Gym) where he trains those who pay the extreme prices required to get in. Jason is on a strict daily training regimen there.
9. Jason always refers to Patriot as Jack, or more often, Grandpa Jack, and seems very genuinely fond of the old man, despite Jack's curmudgeonly nature.
10. Most of the Earth's population believes Jason is really Jack's grandson, born before Jack's enstranged daughter died. The members of the Committee and their understudies all know that Jason is a Rellurite.
11. Jason does not have nor does he need a job. Jack's role as Patriot has set him up for life quite nicely, and both he and Jason view super heroing, and training to do the work involved to be a full time job. He does have a /very/ rigorous training schedule and works hard, both at the Patriot Gym and with Grandpa Jack, but is not otherwise employed. He does have a significant amount of resources available to him - not Tony Stark/Bruce Wayne level, but consistent with the lower upper class.

Possible supporting cast (off the top of my head, open to all sorts of ideas):
A Jarvis or Alfred type, classmates, potential girlfriends (probably from school, definitely open to ideas here - Jason is straight, and interested in human girls, but open to ideas for human/hero sidekick love triangles, or Lana/Lois, or even Betty/Veronica situations if it happens), guys and girls interested in forming a band with him, a trainer at the Patriot Gym.

The above kittydog is Mu, a shapeshifting alien animal of high animal intelligence. Its kind were adopted and domesticated by the shifters many millennia ago. For most of their long juvenile lives, they alternate between mixes of felinoid and canine traits, depending on the current needs of their bonded shifter for a hunter, protector, guardian for children or homes or a companion. They are capable, while juveniles, of forming an intense telepathic bond with a likewise immature shifter, but only one such bond can exist at a time. When that shifter selects a gender, the shiftlet will also take on a final base form, deciding the role it will spend the rest of its existence forming more advanced skills around - be that loyal protector and herder of small children, a quiet and lazy house companion, a trusted hunting and gathering buddy who follows at a shifter's side, or a more independent aide for traveling further afield - essentially, whether it will take on a more felinoid role or more canine role.

Mu is the shiftlet bonded to Sal.

This is one example of supporting cast. The comm goal is for every sidekick to have AT LEAST 2, and more are welcome. People are welcome to post ideas of types of support cast they would like to see, but please remember, this is a cooperative process.
A) Run ideas past the person you're making a supporting char for. If something simply WILL NOT work with their concept, they can say so or ask for modifications.
B) Sidekicks - please try and be flexible and adaptable. Don't reject things out of hand.
C) Sidekicks should not be essentially creating their own supporting cast or giving info out that's so specific they are effectively doing so. Ideas, suggestions and feedback are good - but keep the cooperative aspect in mind.

We have enough info in, and everyone is going to be making multiple support characters. So - when people are ready, go ahead and start looking into questioning people about their sidekick characters and coming up with ideas.

I'm going to just put all of mine in this one journal, but people don't have to do it that way. Seemed the most reasonable for keeping track.

So far... Sal has a shapeshifting pet and loyal companion that will decide if its more felinoid or more canine when Sal selects a gender, suiting its final configuration to the most likely needs of its shifter companion.

Looking forward to seeing what people come up with - and if people need ideas, feel free to hit people up for what they might like to see or have involved, or just get help brainstorming.
