Rules [23 Jun 2011|08:28pm]
dcyzmods

1)      Respect everyone at all times.  We may not always get along, we may not always agree… but at the end of the day, folks, be nice to each other.  Remember that on the end of each journal and screen name is a person with their own life, issues, concerns, cares, and priorities.  Treat everyone the way you would want to be treated.

2)      The mods’ word is law.  Sometimes, we are going to have to make the tough calls and decisions.  We’re very open to other voices and decisions and will listen to everyone, but ultimately, the final say belongs with us.

3)      While the mod team’s is the last word, the first word on most subjects belongs to the person (or people) with the characters over a particular “family.”   The Daily Planet Staff? By and large under the supervision of the Superman player and associated characters like Lois Lane.   Gotham cops and villains?  Under the supervision of the Batman player.   The Greek Gods?  Wonder Woman’s player.  The Atlanteans?  Aquaman’s player.  The GLC and Oans?  The Green Lantern player, etc.  This also generally applies to villains as well—but if you talk through your ideas with them, most people here are extremely reasonable.

4)      Communicate, communicate, communicate.  The key to all things, answers to questions, feedback on ideas, working things through, is to communicate.  The OOC comm can be used for discussions of plots and ideas, we’ll have an AIM and e-mail list, and a nightly chat.

5)      When writing a plot, please send to the mod team (dcyzmods@gmail.com) for a quick look over.  Just a good way for us to stay in the know about what’s going on, and it never hurts to have more eyes on an idea.

6)      Excessive violence, hide it behind a cut.  Excessive sexual stuff, take it to a personal journal.

7)      So long as it’s linked back in the comm at some point, anything done in a personal journal can be considered part of game cannon.

8)      Fight fairly.  In any given fight scene in a game, there’s give and take.  Not everyone’s going to win all the time, but nor should characters lose every time.  And every once in a while… a few surprises might happen (such as the time Spider-Man beat Firelord).  But with good communication, we can keep this nice.

9)      If you’ve got an issue with something in game or a conflict with another player, don’t hesitate to talk to the mod team if you feel it’s necessary.

10)   The DC Universe: Year Zero is pretty lax about interpretations of characters.  It’s built into the premise that you take the general idea and go your own way with it. That said, in terms of which characters can be apped:

a)      Regular DC characters: accepted, will be given standard review

b) Vetrigo characters:

1) Vertigo characters sprung from DC roots--Swamp Thing, Constantine, the associated Endless and cast, Black Orchid, Shade the Changing Man, Tim Hunter, etc: accepted, generally given standard review

2) Vetrigo characters not sprung from DC roots: Fables, Preacher, Transmetropolitan, the Invisibles, Y the Last Man, etc: not accepted.

c) Wildstorm universe characters (Majestic, the Authority, the WILDCats, Gen13, etc): Possibly accepted, but will need extra attention paid with how they'll fit into a DC-ish U (especially for characters who are more or less counterparts of DC characters, like Majestic and Appolo)

d) Watchmen: Not in and of themselves, but appers are perfectly able to incorporate as much of the Watchmen counterpart's general notions into their DC version as wanted.

e) Marvel, Image, Dark Horse, IDW, etc, characters: not allowed.

11)  If you know you’re going to be gone for a while, please let us know, either by occ comm post or by e-mail.  The mod team reserves the right to allow abandoned characters
