Draco wasn't sure what the etiquette around being in a secret relationship with one of your best friends was. There were some things he was clear on, like that he definitely couldn't try and hold Merlin's hand or anything in public, but was he allowed to tell some people? People like Pansy, who wouldn't tell anyone except maybe Thoreau? Or Romy? Romy could keep a secret too. He glanced at Merlin sitting beside him, and then at Thoreau, who was talking about some boy Romy'd met who'd swept her off her feet. At least he didn't have to hang out with his ex anymore. He let his hand drop under the table in the upscale pub they were hanging out in and hooked his fingers with Merlin's.
Thoreau knew he should be the last one to criticize someone for going after someone who was, more of less, a step-sibling, considering his extracurricular activities, but he loved Romy he did not get this at all. "He looks just like our step-dad," he said, shaking his head and then accepting the beer and chips that the waiter delivered to their table, wrapping an arm around Pansy's shoulder and pushing his chips towards her so she could steal some. "I mean, identical. I don't get it."

Lavinia hadn't seen Pyxis in a while and, although she was a pretty big fan of locking herself up in her room and spending her days alone with her books, it was sort of starting to get to her. They were best friends, even if Pyxis and Rider were dating now and outings were officially going to be even more awkward than they already had been.
She showed up at Pyxis's door and let her brother show her into the house, going up to Pyxis's room and pouncing on her sitting in her cuddle hall, reblogging stuff on her tumblr. "I think you should spend time with me instead of your laptop."
