It was a busy day at the record store, and Vegas was ready to go home. He had good news for Murphy. His boss said that Murphy could have a job at the record store whenever he was ready, no rush. It was ideal since Murphy could get back into the swing of things with Vegas at his side, and not have to go it alone. After finishing up his shift and clocking out, he called Murphy's track phone and left a message when his brother didn't pick up. He had a weird feeling, but he was doing his best to shake it off and not freak out about it. The last thing Murphy needed was for him to freak out and make a big deal when nothing was wrong.
Vegas headed for his car with his hands hidden away inside the pockets of his jacket, and his chin was tucked down low so that his mouth and nose were covered by his red and black checkered scarf. When he heard his cell go off, he assumed it was Murphy calling back, and he put it to his ear as he unlocked the door to his car.
"'Lo? Murph?" he asked as he slipped inside the car and pulled the door shut. |
