Who: Michael Corner and Evelyn Rivers
Where: Library
When: Sometime after dinner.
What: Michael is bored. Someone needs to entertain him.
Rating: n/a
Status: Incomplete

As of lately, Michael was not in the best of moods. He was still facing the ire of all the students who were annoyed about this house elf fiasco, but perhaps some of that was his own fault. Maybe. He wasn't the one who made the elves go mental! They did that all on their own. If he would only just put on a happy face and get down on his hands and knees so he can beg for forgiveness, that could possibly solve the whole problem, but he certainly wasn't going to that when his ego was in dire need of uplifting, not deflating. Maybe if he ignored it, it would go away. That was the easy way to solve problems when he was younger, why couldn't things still work like that?

It was difficult for him to focus on what he was reading, even if he usually could find a way to enjoy whatever reading assignment they were giving. A confused brain mixed with an anxious body was a lethal combination for trying to study. At least he had this one sentence memorized, as he had read it nearly two dozen times already. Giving up, Michael slammed the book closed and shoved it back into his bag. He glanced up and looked around, his brain tingling with that sensation one gets when they come back to realty and remember their settings. No one seemed to be paying him any attention, sadly, so he got to his feet, trying to be as noisy with his chair as he could, and started to walk along the shelves of books. His attention was elsewhere until he felt himself bump into something, or someone.

"Sorry," he responded, not knowing just how sorry was until he looked up a moment later to see who he had knocked into.

They had been in perfect order! All those books! How many were there, twelve? Thirteen? And she had the pages marked in the enormous one, but it looked like all the makeshift bookmarks had fallen out. Everything was ruined!

What came out was a quiet, "Oh, no, it's fine." She couldn't really trouble anyone, really. They all had their things to be done, too... Maybe she was being selfish. Michael probably had somewhere to be.

Like the kitchens?

Evelyn glanced up at him, making eye contact momentarily before returning to re-order her books. When she pushed her damned fringe out of the way, a splotch of ink that had been on her hand was transferred in a smudge across the bridge of her nose. "No, I'm okay, thank you." After a moment of awkwardly shuffling her books, she stopped and glanced up. "Where were you heading so quickly?" she asked, hoping not to offend him.

Michael was trying to peek at the titles of some of the books without being completely obvious. Maybe there was something in there, something completely inappropriate...did Evelyn really seem like someone who would be carrying around inappropriate, at least to some, books in the library? No, but that didn't stop him from wanting to know if there was some hidden side to her that he had never seen before. It didn't seem like there was anything of much interest, anyway, at least nothing he could think to strike up a conversation about.

"At least I didn't smack into your face. It would have been terrible of me to ruin something so nice, yeah?" he responded casually, also thinking to himself that he wouldn't want to deal with any blood that could be spurting from her nose if he had bumped her there. Thinking about noses made him look at hers just as a dark splotch of ink made it's way to the bridge of her nose. His grin deepened.

"I was hoping to find some excitement in this dingy library, actually," he answered, using his hand to rub at his own nose, hoping she would pick up on the sign. He could have just wiped it off himself, but she was one of those people he was still unsure about. "And where were you heading with half the contents of the library?"
