"Are you going to tell me all about your stay in France before we get to school, or are you going to make me wait?" Victoire asked her sister with a smile, stretching her leg across the compartment of the train and poking her sister with her toe. "I want to know-" She paused when she saw Teddy in the window, waving madly at her. "Merde."

Louis glanced at the door for a moment, then snorted. "Perhaps you'd like to tell us what you've been doing." He told her, then unlatched the door. "Teddy. What do you want? We're having girl talk about our periods. Go away."

James didn't understand Cepheus Malfoy. Maybe that was why he was so fascinated by him. Christmas had been fun, snogging him after annoying him under the mistletoe, but fun didn't necessarily translate into anything. Honestly, he'd been busy with his friends and forgotten all about the other boy until they'd run into each other in Diagon Alley, and then... Well, and then Cepheus had made it hard to forget about it and topped it all off with the invite to the Malfoy dinner and the night that followed that.

But still, just because James had fucked Cepheus Malfoy it didn't mean he understood him. He knew he frustrated Cepheus, and that he liked the way Cepheus got all hot and bothered when he was frustrated. Cepheus liked having sex with him. That wasn't anything special. People liked having sex with him and James liked sexing them back. That was the point of sex. Cepheus's mother saw right through his smile and his father looked at him like he'd crawled out from a gutter and cleaned up a bit before draping himself all over their son. Cepheus was friends with his little brother. But other than all that, who knew?

James was pretty sure Cepheus didn't like him. Not the way most people liked him. James made friends easily, and maybe part of what made him think about Cepheus so much was how determined Cepheus seemed to be to not be friendly with him. How annoyed he seemed when James even smiled in his direction. Who got annoyed by his smile?

So after getting back to Hogwarts, James had done his best to settle back into the swing of things. He flirted casually. He hung out with Roxanne and Howell and the rest of the Quidditch team. He let girls moon over him and did his best not to notice Cepheus when they were near each other.

And then Cepheus walked over, into the middle of a conversation about the upcoming game against Slytherin, and grabbed him and kissed him and pressed against him.

James had melted. He wasn't used to being the one who melted in a kiss. He wrapped his arms around Cepheus, pulling him closer, and then Cepheus was pulling away and storming off and everyone was staring at him like he had three heads. James couldn't even think of a joke that would lighten the mood, or at least stop the stares.

He did the only thing that seemed logical; he got up and followed Cepheus to the dorms. "What was that?"
