Oh yeah... and I wrote a poem!
When I was young, I dreamed of the Sky
and the Sun, and the Sea, and what lay behind
and I longed to cross the open Sea –
but none in my home would follow me!
So I set out alone, wetted with spray,
a salt wind blew me West for a week and a day
then it broke my ship on a lonely shore,
so I walked and I walked till I could walk no more.
Then I cast me down and I slept till sunrise,
then a wondrous sight greeted my sore eyes:
the Sea was before me, my way again clear,
and beyond the waves the Horizon was near!
I gathered some wood and I built me a raft,
with a shirt for a sail and for steering a shaft.
What would weigh me down, away I hurled;
and I sailed away to the End of the World.
But the sea at the Edge is perilous and deep,
and a monster was there, stirring from sleep;
he rose, and he rose, and surrounded me there,
I strove to escape but he gave not a care.
With teeth of hard foam he smashed my raft with zest!
With flanks of dark water devoured the rest!
He tossed me about, and swirled me around,
till I lost all sense of up or down.
Then, sated at last, he sank and was gone,
and left me forgotten, alone and forlorn.
Now forever I lie beneath the Sea,
while oblivious waves crash far over me. |
