How Am I Alive

It’s a calm clear night in Georgetown. There seems to be a sense of peace to the air especially around a small secluded cemetery that the Hall family uses to lay their relatives to rest. One grave stone is a particular note, a crouched over winged man looking down and written on the stone says In Memoriam Donald Hall RIP.

Then suddenly at area around the grave shines bright with blinding white light for several moments before fading away revealing a young man lying on the ground in front of the grave. Slowly sitting up the look of confusion and shock on his face was possibly great than what would have been on the face of someone who had witnessed what had happen if anyone had been around to see it.

After sitting there for a while he got up slowly and walked out of the graveyard and into the streets if Washington DC. He walked around looking for someplace familiar where he could just sit for a while and figure out what had just happened to him.

While he wandered around he looked in a car mirror to get a look at himself. His face had aged not too much but he looked older than he remembered. The clothes he had found himself in seemed to match perfectly with the currently looks.

While he wasn’t sure about many things yet he did know one thing that he, Don Hall, was alive again.

After wandering around for almost an hour he found a bar he remembered his brother used to like dragging him to. Figuring this was as good a place as any to stop and think Don walks inside. When he does he hears a familiar voice that sounds like it’s about to get himself in trouble.

"What did you say?!"

Clearly, Hank Hall was intoxicated. That was probably worse for the people around him than they could image. He already had a very loose temper, and now it was uninhibited. He threw the first punch, and yet again started a bar brawl.

On some level Don was not surprised to see Hank cause a fight like this but still what were the chances.

Don rushed over to see if he could stop the fight and calm people down. “Can we just talk this out,” He asked.

Hank swings another fist around, knocking somebody out cold. He stops for a second. "Huh? Soun's like Don." He gets punched square in the jaw and then jumps back into the fight. "I'll teach ya to fuck with me!"

Yeah Don wasn’t having much effect stopping the fighting. So he decided to change his focus to getting Hank out of there which would hopeful resolve the issue faster. “Hank come on, is this really necessary,” Don said getting closer.

"Who do ya' think you are, huh?" He turned around, almost throwing a punch at Don. He stopped dead in his tracks. Looked a little different--older--but Hank would /always/ recognize his brother's face. "Don?"

“Hank, as much as I would like to do the whole reunion thing in the middle of a brawl isn’t the best place for it,” Don said quickly dodging a blow. “But yes it’s really me.”

"Good ta see ya, bro!" He bear hugged at his brother, after dodging a punch and swinging back. He should have been more surprised to see Don, but he was drunk. That altered how he was reacting to the reunion. Yeah, he was going to feel like shit later.

The big bear hug surprised Don a bit but given the smell of alcohol on Hank’s breath at least he knew why he wasn’t in shock right now. “Good to see you too,” He said then still trying to at least get hank out of the fight said “Why don’t we grab a table and talk.”

"What? You tryn'a stop me from winnin' the fight?" The lack of involvement had mostly put him out of the fight, anyway. Mob mentality excluded Don and Hank from the brawl.

“No you could beat these guys any day of the week,” Don said then choosing his next words carefully says, “We haven’t talked in a while about anything. If I had money I’d buy you a drink too.”

"Been longer than that..." Seemed like he was depressed for a moment, but it didn't last when he shouted to the bartender over the fighting. "Gimme the usual, Buddy!"

It was less of an invitation for Don to crash at Hank's than a requirement. You see, somebody needed to drag the guy's blackout drunk ass back to his house. And imagine Hank's surprise when he wakes up, head aching, and walks out into the living room of his apartment to see a ghost from his past.

Not even a ghost now. "Don?!"

“Hey Hank,” Don said from the couch he had crashed on, coming back from the dead was a lot more tiring than he thought it would be. He had the TV on trying to learn more about what had happen since he had died. He had tried to computer but it had confused him so he had just given up.

“I have to admit I’m kind of surprised to see you up so early,” Don said.

I'm kinda surprised to see you Alive!" he replied, shocked. He didn't even remember talking to Don the night before. "What the hell happened?"

Don was about to say something about how they had talked about this last night but then remembered how much Hank had had to drink. “It’s a long story,” Don said before going over what he had told him last night and what else he remember about coming back which wasn’t much.

Hank was silent, and rubbing his forehead. It hurt like a bitch. "Shit..." he commented. "I dunno what to say, Don. Except...I'm glad you're back."

“Thanks,” Don said, “I don’t really know what to make of all of this either. Maybe we could see if some of our friends might have some ideas as to what happened.” By friends he of course meant other heroes.

"Those guys, right." Hank liked them, yeah. Most of them, anyway. But he was a little iffy about that suggestion. Maybe it was the hangover talking. "Worth of a shot, right?"

“It can’t hurt,” Don said plus it would make sure he wasn’t an evil clone or something which for Hanks sake he really hoped wasn’t true. “Of course the hard part now is figuring out who to talk to.”

There was one part of his head now that wasn't hurting now. "Well, how about we go when my head doesn't hurt like a bitch?"
