Name: Penelope Lucia Clearwater
Gender: Female
Date of birth:December 19th, 1976
House/Year: Ravenclaw, graduated at the end of the 1993-4 academic year.
Blood status: Muggleborn.
Sexuality: Heterosexual.
PB/Avatar: Nicole Linkletter

Physical characteristics: Penelope is of above average height for a woman, standing a little under 5'10, but nonetheless doesn't have what she would describe as a knockout figure - she is slender but wishes she had more curves to fill it out. Facially she is pretty, having delicate, feminine features and piercing blue eyes. Her hair is a dark brown colour, which she doesn't dye and often wears back in a practical ponytail or bun, never doing anything fancy with it. Her skin is clear and pale, to the extent that she sometimes looks washed out, unless she wears a bit of makeup or uses a glamour charm.

Distant History: Penelope came to Hogwarts as an eleven year old Muggleborn, having never known anything of the existence of magic prior to receiving her Hogwarts letter, something she was personally affronted by, given that her father, Alan Clearwater MP, was Home Secretary at the time and was therefore one of the select number of Muggles in positions of power to be made aware of the magical world. Due to her father's job and healthy income, she came from a financially comfortable background and has always called London home. As she attended a private primary school, her accent was sometimes marked out as being 'posh', but Penelope has never made apologies for her family and social status. Her mother, Victoria, was a housewife and occupied herself by taking Penelope's younger siblings - twins Lucy and Ryan, two years younger than herself - to varying activities whilst Penelope was at Hogwarts. Penelope is the only witch in her family.

During her Hogwarts years, Penelope was an excellent student, her focus and determination working well with her natural intelligence. She thrived in Ravenclaw, and believed it to be the one house in which she truly fitted. She was naturally logical and as such had no time for "airy fairy" subjects such as Divination, choosing instead to take subjects that gave a firm result, such as Arithmancy and Ancient Runes. She left Hogwarts with seven NEWTs and the title of Head Girl, although the relationship she had with her male counterpart, Percy Weasley, did not survive long past graduation. It was during the summer break that they decided they were no longer compatible, and amicably decided to separate. Penelope has had no proper relationships since, although she has had the occasional date here and there.

Between school and the current time period, Penelope has been undergoing intense academic training. She took the requisite entrance exams and won a place at university to study psychology, and in summer 1997 graduated with first class honours. After this, she trained to become a psychologist and has had clients in both the Muggle and Magical worlds, although she concentrates mainly in the latter domain.

Recent History: The year following her university graduation was when the infamous Second Voldemort War raged, and thus her continuing education was somewhat interrupted, given that she aimed to train in both Muggle and Magical fields. She couldn't train in the Magical world whilst there were dangers for Muggleborn witches and wizards, and so she fled the country with her younger siblings to escape the attacks upon those of her blood status. Penelope settled in the south of France, where the Ministry there kept her and her family under protection until Harry Potter brought about the downfall of Voldemort's regime in the UK. As a result, her French is flawless and she keeps a fondness of French culture to this day.

In the four years since the end of the war, she returned to England and completed her psychologist training with the British Ministry. She now works primarily at St Mungo's, giving therapy to those who suffered psychologically under the old regime. Whilst she has many clients who suffer from bereavement issues or stress disorders relating to specific events, the bulk of her case files are of people like herself, with strong links to the Muggle world and thus felt downtrodden and ill-treated by those of a longer magical bloodline. Penelope herself still suffers from occasional nightmares, a relic of hiding away in France for so long. Her job is also therapy for herself.

Current employment status: Penelope now works as one of the few psychologists in St Mungo's, and is the only one there who specialises in treating those who suffered at the hands of Voldemort and his followers - thusly she commands a healthy salary, especially as prior to this position she worked freelance and effectively won herself a promotion upon returning to England. However, she would not yet consider herself wealthy, as St Mungo's is a state hospital and she will need to have been working for a little while yet before she would fall into the "rich" category. She does come from a wealthy family, although she prefers to make her own way in the world, as this reassures her of her own capability. She absolutely adores her job, as having been in a similar situation to her clients, she can empathise with them, and feels as though she can really make a difference in the world. This is where her caring and nurturing side comes alive, and where her logical and practical side is promptly squashed.

Personality: Although Penelope is a fairly quiet and introspective person, this does not mean she is shy or miserable - she is instead happy in her own company and enjoys peaceful activities such as reading a good book, or going to see a play (many would be surprised at just how loud and rowdy she can get when watching sports matches, however). She is not antisocial although she does take quite a while to learn to trust people and become secure in their presence. When she has made a friend, however, she is loyal for life. Still, this does not prevent her from giving her friends a ticking off when she feels they need it.

The sort of person who would best get along with Penelope is probably someone like herself - anyone who appreciates culture and the finer things in life will probably find something to chat about with her. One thing she does best is see past prejudices that others have regarding houses, so she will get along with anyone who is willing to give someone of her own background a chance. Admittedly, she finds Gryffindors sometimes to be rather reckless and is somewhat intrigued by the rebelliousness of certain Slytherins, but she does not make final judgements as to a person's worth based on this.

If there is anything that Penelope detests, it is untidiness. She sees it as pure laziness on a person's part - when all it takes is a few quickly cast spells, what sort of person cannot keep a good home? To a lesser extent, she also dislikes those who have bad personal organisation, although she would grudgingly admit that what is logical to one person is completely stupid to another.

Generally, Penelope would be a very considerate housemate. She does not play loud music, keeps the place in order and does not interfere too much in other people's business. However, her tone can sometimes be considered brisk when she attempts to explain her reasoning and general behaviour - and her anger when someone keeps an untidy house, cooks bad food or is generally rude is not worth risking. A fellow Ravenclaw once said of Penelope that she has a glare worthy of Minerva McGonagall - and Penelope considers this a compliment.
