Appearance
PB: Emilie Nereng
Detailed Description: Standing at five feet and three inches, Colby has a slender and toned build coming from a childhood of activity. She has long, sun-kissed blond hair that she usually wears down, and bright blue eyes. Other than a hole in each ear, she has no other piercings, though she has been thinking about getting her belly-button pierced (however her father would probably say no... but why does he have to know?), and she has no tattoos, though she certainly admires them and has toyed with the idea of getting one at some point, as another form of rebellion. Since she spends all of her summers at the beach, she usually has a healthy tan.

When it comes to clothes, the more comfortable the better. Colby mostly wears t-shirts and shorts, and has for the longest time hated skirts though she started wearing them back in 9th grade in an effort to show that she is in fact a girl (and she knows her legs are her best asset). Her wardrobe mostly consists of hand-me-downs from her brothers, tom-boy-like girl’s clothes, and sneakers, however more girl-ish clothes like skirts and nice tops and heels (which she’s still getting used to somewhat).

Personality
Likes: surfing, the beach, sunny weather, thunderstorms (but otherwise doesn’t care about rain), any kind of good music, animals, being home, being away from home, her dog - Corduroy, doing things she knows she shouldn’t, trying new things, flying, being outside, summer, skateboarding, Sublime, Red Hot Chili Peppers
Dislikes: people assuming she’s a ditz because of her hair color and because she’s from CA, girly-girls (though some of that is out of jealousy), Katy Perry, Valspeak (it is NOT the same surfing lingo), not having Corduroy at school
Quirks:
*When sitting, she more often than not bounces her leg or taps her pen/pencil or fingers.
*She always wears a pair of hot pants or something similar whenever she wears a skirt.
*Fiddles with her necklace often, which she never takes off.
*Ambidextrous as a result of a childhood injury, and usually uses her left hand.
Secrets:
--Her middle name.
--Lost her virginity this past New Years Eve to one of her brother’s friends - Michael Chavez. She didn’t particularly like him, but she was drunk and wanted to do something reckless. She was pretty sure they used a condom, but just in case she made him take her to get the morning after pill by threat of her telling her dad and her brothers. Not a horrible secret, just one to tell friends only.
What’s in your characters pockets? Lip balm, wallet, phone, wand
Strengths: Colby is determined and willful, when she wants to do something she goes for it, giving it all she’s got. Having studied gymnastics for much of her childhood, she’s also quite flexible and highly athletic.
Weaknesses: She tends toward impulsive, sometimes reckless behavior due to restlessness. She can be rather hot headed at times, as well, which does not help her impulsiveness.
Strongest subject in school: Defense Against the Dark Arts
Weakest subject in school: History of Magic
One thing he/she can't live without: Summer

Detailed personality: Raised as the only daughter and youngest child of a single father, Colby is very much a tom-boy, and not at all against getting into things that most girls would probably turn their noses up at. She’s full of spunk, energy, and enthusiasm, with a gung-ho attitude that has gotten her into many scrapes and scratches. She can hold her own as one of the guys, and doesn’t back down from a challenge. Growing up in a house full of men, she’s learned how to make sure she is heard, and how to stand up for herself.

She’s something of an adrenaline junkie (as fitting of her house), always ready to try something new and exciting (and potentially dangerous). She’s not above breaking the rules (even if no one ever finds out or it’s a silly rule anyway). Independent and fearless, Colby seems to be the stereotypical Rienzi. Of course, this is not to say that she isn’t without her insecurities. Due to her being surrounded with boys and practically growing up like one, Colby is still somewhat of a novice when it comes to romance and though she’d like to be able to flirt with boys, it’s something she’s not at all skilled at and she tends toward nervousness with guys that she likes. And this can result in snapping at them, the last thing she actually wants to do.

At this point in her life, she’s all about rebellion and living her life to it’s fullest, mostly uncaring of the consequences.

(Taken from the Harry Potter Astrology site; Gyrffindor edited to Rienzi.)
Expect stamina, incredible courage, intense and stormy emotions, burning idealism, and indomitable will. Rienzi Scorpios are never drawn in shades of pastel; they are always blood red and mesmerizing gold. There are few followers born under these aspects; Scorpios born into this house tend to be either leaders or loners. They are well placed on the Quidditch field, where their natural competitive streak and their great store of personal energy make them natural Beaters (or, really, naturals at any position on the field). Expect them to get into frequent duels, and expect them to gravitate naturally to DADA, for all Scorpios are fascinated by anything dark and forbidden, and Rienzi Scorpios will want to take their place as defenders as early in their careers as possible. Expect passion. Expect wisdom. But don't expect a lot of time to take a breather. Many people born under this aspect also end up as Aurors; they're the perfect "bad cops" to the "good cop" Libra wizards.

Personal History:
Colby was born the youngest child and only daughter of Ian and Amelia Ayers, after four older brothers ranging in age from eight years to ten months. The family, though large, was extremely close knit and did nearly everything together. You couldn’t have found a more happy, loving family if you tried. And at the center of it all was Amelia. She was a wonderful and devoted mom, catering to everyone in the family’s needs and never expecting anything in return. Her children were always her first priority, and she was happy bringing them to and from their various activities - soccer, basketball, surfing, lacrosse, and gymnastics (for Colby). Everything was perfect - until Colby was four. That year the family suffered the tragic loss of Amelia to a car crash. The family was devastated, and Ian was at a loss. Not only had he lost his beloved wife, but now he was the single father of five, still rather young children. Thankfully, the children’s grandparents were more than willing to help whenever Ian needed it, and James was responsible and mature enough to watch his younger siblings for a little while after school when no one else could.

And so the family endured, still close and caring, though changed obviously. With the constant female presence of her mother gone and being surrounded by five males constantly, Colby began to mimic their behavior. She followed them constantly, somewhat to the annoyance of the three oldest, though Damien never really minded, being so close in age to his sister. Eschewing all things girly (save for the gymnastics, which Colby kept up with until she was twelve, and even that wasn’t entirely girly), Colby involved herself in everything her brothers had done, developing a particular love for surfing.

Life passed more or less normally. Colby was accepted into a Wizarding school when she entered the sixth grade, just like her brothers before her. She continued on until ninth grade, when upon having her brothers interfere with her love life, she decided that it was time to branch out a bit. She didn’t need to go to the same school her brothers did. Her cousins (the magical ones) were going to a school on the East Coast, surely she could go there. They taught the same things, didn’t they? And so Colby spent the first half of her summer begging her father to let her go to Crescent City Institute instead of Death Valley Academy. When he finally agreed, Colby was ecstatic. Sure, Damien was transferring with her (so she wouldn’t feel so alone), but that was fine, he was practically her best friend anyway. She was getting to do something different. Something on her own (relatively). It gave her a rush of adrenaline, and it was a feeling she found she loved. And when she was sorted into Rienzi, she felt at home. Her first year had past like a blur, going by too fast for her liking, but she was back again after the summer, and ready for even more adventures and new experiences to feel that rush.
