The Burnham City Apartments building (or the BCA) is located in the heart of the city. It has 11 floors and is filled with unique tenants.

Burnham University

Located inside the city, has several buildings. Has undergraduate and graduate programs. The campus is somewhat self-contained (students need codes to get into dorm buildings and some campus facilities). The dorms are high rise buildings; the freshman have a specific dorm but older classes are mixed in two other dorms (since many opt to move off campus).

Eisley’s

Pigeon's Booksellers

A bookstore down the street from the apartment building, houses a small cafe in the back and cozy chairs in the stacks.

Vengeance Tattoos

Westerveldt & Parrish Law Offices

An elegant and ancient building located in downtown Burnham City. The upstairs offices offer law services to the mundane. The basement however is an entirely different story (offering law and other services to various magical communities).

Located in Pleasantview

Pleasantview Cafe

Owned and operated by Elle Mann. She has a tendency to throw special event parties on random holidays.

Heaton University

Located just outside of Pleasantview (on the opposite side from the asylum). Very prestigious school, mostly rich kids attending. Has an undergraduate program and selective graduate programs. It's a mostly closed campus and the students are largely isolated from the town outside.

Pleasantview Community College

Located within Pleasantview. Home to a lot of college kids who couldn't get into the other two universities. It is a two year program offering associate's degrees.

Pleasantview Mental Health Facility

Located at the town border of Pleasantview. It sits high atop the hill and is relatively closed off from the rest of the community. Previously known as the Pleasantview Asylum it's been around since the early 50s. The facility has been updated in recent years to assist in the short to long term residential health care of those diagnosed with mental health concerns. Bad map.

Located Elsewhere

The Waffle House

Located in Manhattan. It's the one restaurant that Evangeline, Jon and Harper frequent when they get together.

The Town of Charlaine

A strange, dying town full of empty, dilapidated buildings about twenty miles west of Burnham City and Pleasantview; it was (for the most part) abandoned many years back and is now only home to the peculiar.

Other: Originally a witch, Abel joined the vampires with his guardian, Nataliya, when she decided to leave the Kouzelheks tribe. Sired by Norwood. Killed by Elisabeth.

Name: Danae
Residence: The Black Woods
PB: Stockard Channing
Player: Carol

Other: Aligns with Kouzelnice. Danae is the Head Witch and Tribal Leader. She has an ability which allows her to set people into their right tribes without all of the guesswork. This ability has been passed down her line for centuries. She is the mother of Serene and grandmother to Helen, Gisele, and Heidi. She knows about her third granddaughter, though she is not supposed to. She was killed by Ianthe at Levi's request for some unknown reason.

Name: Gawain
Residence: The Endless Mountains
PB: Boyd Holbrook
Player: Becky

Other: Gawain is the heroic figure of the tribe. He helps Eira lead the armed forces. With his dashing smile and subtle sweet talk, he charmed his way into Eira's arms. No one knows of their secret relationship and he plans to keep it that way. Killed during an ambush on the dark elves village.

Other: A dancer from New York. She has a twin sister, Ingrid who goaded her into traveling on this trip, which they had been forbidden to take by their father. She doesn't have a very good moral compass. Died during childbirth.

This is where we'll list past characters that are no longer played.

Name: Cat
Residence: The Circular Lake
PB: Rachel Lutrell
Player: Carol

Other: Cat has sketchy heritage, which is why she bonded so well with Dimas (both feel like outcasts from their tribe, though they do not often complain of it), besides the fact that they were raised together. Her father was the selkie; she knew him but he died when she was still young and he never officially claimed her (believing it was for her own well being). Her mother raised her and Dimas as if they were a normal merfolk family. Cat is loyal and calm, very smart and strong.

Name: Dimas
Residence: The Circular Lake
PB: Jason Momoa
Player: Carol

Other: Dimas' heritage is a little sketchy. He is part selkie, though he inherited only merfolk traits. His mother was a selkie who had a tryst with Johannes. She died in his early youth (since merfolk are immortal and selkies are shortlived). He was passed to Cat's family to be raised since they understood the importance of discretion about their lineage. He is Cat's best friend; they stick together through thick and thin. They learned to defend themselves at a young age and are often sparing partners. He's strong and quick to judge. Very set in his ways.

Believe it or not we used to have a map for this game.

There are mistakes on this map that don't affect the layout too terribly (mostly missing doors).

-No patients are allowed past the Hallway door by the Cafeteria without being accompanied by security or attendants.

-I numbered the High Security Cells and Offices. We can haggle as to who goes where later. Each cell houses one patient. The solitary cells are for the general population should a patient become unstable and need extra care.

-There are four offices for the counseling staff.

-HT is the High Security Therapy Room. Patients with violent histories are kept in the High Security section and meet with their doctors here as well. The general population dorms are probably bigger than they appear on the map, everything is roughed in.

-There is a medical wing not noted on the map. It had previously not been mentioned in play (and therefor didn't exist in our imaginations yet).

-The rest is self-explanatory, but if you have a question feel free to ask.

The Emperor sought to extend his kingdom. When negotiations for better trade routes beyond the Runic Kingdom did not go exactly his way he declared war.

The Great War as it's commonly known had been raging for a couple years. Soldiers would serve a pace, travel home to visit family and then rotate back into service. Some of the war was fought on Runic turf. Some of it fought on Arcane turf.

Both Kingdoms suffered greatly in the course of fighting. The Arcane Castle was ruined. The Runes are in ruin. Other houses didn't suffer the same physical damage, but suffered the loss of sons and daughters who went to war.

The war ended with a shaky truce three months ago.

The Arcane Castle is being rebuilt, almost whole but not entirely livable. Some have begun the grieving process, others have already passed it.

This is where we begin our game. A shaky truce. Damaged kingdoms working to rebuild. A mad scramble for power in the face of instability.

Thundercats GO!

The Runic Kingdom

Location: East - across the channel from the Arcane Empire.

Geography: The topography of the Runic Kingdom ranges from wetlands and rolling meadows to woodlands and craggy peaks. A large mountain range runs the length of the kingdom just east of its centre. A number of streams run down from these mountains and feed into the various river systems. These systems eventually flow out into oceans that surround the kingdom.

The western lowlands are home to the farming clans. There are a few larger towns in the region where produce and livestock can be sold/traded, and items less commonly available to the area can be bartered for. These settlements are also the locations of the regional ‘Things’ (see: government.) Some families graze livestock into the lower mountains, though the mountains are generally the domain of hunters and miners. There are a number of clans scattered throughout the range. Here, valleys are often the sites of larger settlements - again, these facilitate trade and provide a common place for the people of nearby clans to meet. You’ll also find a number of craftsmen in such villages. The capital of the Runic Kingdom - Bygomanidalr - is located in one of the deepest valleys, surrounding a great lake. A castle was first built on Lake Mani for one of the High Chieftains, and slowly but surely a city expanded out amongst the surrounding hills, forming the nation’s capital. Lake Mani has a rather central location within the kingdom.

The eastern part of the continent is less populated than the west - the land is not as low and is generally more densely wooded. These factors don’t stop a number of clans from occupying areas to the east though. Again, you see mining, hunting and small amount of farming down the mountains. Timber generally isn’t in short supply on either side of the range - but some finer woods and wood crafted items do come out of the east.

Water is very important to the Runic Kingdom - they rely on it heavily for trade, fishing and exploring, and it is fair to say that they have a good deal of it. Streams, rivers, lakes.. not to mention the ocean. Coastal villages are in no short supply in the Runic Kingdom. Again, there are less in the east, as the terrain is rougher - the seas too. There are a smattering of port and fishing villages though. There are major ports located quite centrally on both the south and north coasts. And, again, multiple to the west. Many of the coastal settlements to the west were decimated during the recent war though, as were a number of villages on the trade routes inland.

People: 87% Native, 5% Empire, 8% Other.

Despite its involvement in seafaring and international trade, the Runic Kingdom has a relatively low rate of immigration. This is likely due to the clan lifestyle adopted by most members of the kingdom. It is not easy to get into, given that clans are usually made up of families of related individuals. Still, persons with no relation to the leader of a clan may be accepted into it, and in the larger cities, clan lifestyle is often confined to those with higher social standing (e.g. - the warrior clans).

The percentage of individuals of the Arcane Kingdoms residing in the Runic Kingdom has decreased in response the recent war. The climate has not been particularly welcoming since the hostilities - a fact that is unlikely to change in the near future. Despite this, a number of citizens have chosen to remain. In contrast, the percentage of individuals from distant lands dwelling in the Runic Kingdom has increased slightly since the war. There are opportunities to be found in those towns that were wracked by fighting in the war, and the Runic Kingdom is happy to accept any willing to aid in the rebuilding process.

Culture: Traditional Runic society is based on a clan system in which there are multiple levels of organisation. The most basic unit is the clan - a group of individuals of common descent united under one member (usually a patriarch) who acts as its chief. Generally members of the same clan live and work in the same area. The chief of a clan does not own the territory occupied by its members - that belongs to the individuals. It is not uncommon, therefore, for multiple clans to occupy land within the same region. Indeed, all of the clans present in defined area are required to meet a number of times a year to discuss various regional issues - representing the next tier of government. The final tier is national - where nominated members from each of the regions meet with the chieftains of the warrior clans and the High Chieftain (king) to deliberate over issues of national importance.

Marriage is common within clans. Though individuals not related to a clan may be accepted into it - usually via marriage. (Women usually become members of their husband’s clan if they are not already.) Ultimately, the decision to accept a person into the clan falls to its chief though. Arranged marriages are relatively common, and while less common, polygamy is also an acceptable practice in the Runic Kingdom. Divorce is allowed, though if both individuals are not in agreement, the person wanting the divorce must show grounds (e.g. domestic violence, being forced to move, etc.) Children are often expected to follow in their parents footsteps - especially in the more rural communities where the clan is the community and everybody works together to keep the unit functioning. Family is very important to the runic people.

While the culture of the Runic Kingdom is largely male-centric, women are still respected. A strong woman makes a strong man, as they say. The domain of the woman is the home, but her role is not viewed as being servant-like. It is more a complement to the man’s role. While the woman keeps everything running in the home, the man works to supply the family and maintain their honour within the community. In the event of a man’s death, his wife can take over any number of his roles - she is seen as second in command and very capable. Still, there are a number of jobs that are viewed as ‘women’s’ jobs, presumably having less respect than ‘men’s’ jobs. Priestesses and healers are the main jobs women have outside of the home, though this may be starting to change - with women recently being allowed to join the ranks of the military as fighters if they show aptitude. One of the more curious roles a woman can take is that of a Volva though. These are women blessed with magic by the Gods. They usually do not marry - taking themselves out of the traditional ‘family’ role and travelling the kingdom to offer their services. They are gifted with divination and manipulative magics. Volva are both respected and feared, and they often find themselves in the employ of individuals in high places. Of the volva, only a few are considered prophets - having the ability to see the future in dreams, rather than simply divining it through tools. Prophets are seen as being more reliable, though obviously they are at the mercy of what they see - their visions cannot be forced.

There tends to be a breakdown of the traditional runic lifestyle in the big cities. This is largely due to the fluid nature of the larger settlements. Things are developing and changing all the time - with different cultures and individuals always passing through. Still, the clan structure tends to hold on in the upper classes, and it is these groups that are represented nationally. The interests of the lower classes in cities like these often go unrecognised - meaning that the old ways are always being reinforced, even when things may be changing below.

FAMILY, JUSTICE and HONOUR are the fundamental virtues of the Runic Kingdom.

Religion: Most individuals in the Runic Kingdom worship the Gods of the Norse Pantheon. Worship is often a private thing, with individuals turning their attentions to particular Gods depending on their needs. Clans and families may make offerings to the Gods when certain events such as marriages or births are set to occur. There are a number of important dates throughout the year where the Gods are nationally recognised - the solstices, times of harvest, times of war. They are recognised by a sacrificial feast (a blot). Animals are sacrificed to the Gods, then cooked and eaten by the people. The best bits, of course, are left for the Gods. These feasts are held in specially prepared halls (called hofs). The hofs are the closest thing the Runic Kingdom has to temples. In addition to the hofs, more personal worship can occur at natural holy sites around the country or even in ones own home. Human sacrifices occur once every nine years during a special blot aimed at the veneration of all the Gods.

There are priests (gothi) and priestesses (gydja). It is usually only the men that officiate public ceremonies (such as the feasts) though. Gydja are generally more private in their Godly concerns, but they also work to maintain the hofs and consult the Gods, as do their male counterparts.

A number of other religions are present in the Runic Kingdom. They are permitted as long as no laws are broken in the following of them. Not surprisingly, these religions see most of their worship occurring in the major cities and port towns.

Government: The most basic level of government in the Runic Kingdom is the clan. Clans are ruled by a chief, who is typically an older male member of the clan to whom most members have some familial relation. The members of the clan meet as necessary for issues of importance to be discussed. These can range from births, deaths and marriages, to disputes between individuals, to trade and warfare. When the chief of a clan dies, a new chief is decided upon by its members.

The next level of government is regional. Where a number of clans occupy a given area, meetings must occur between them. These assemblies are referred to as Things and they convene every few months. The Thing is presided over by the chiefs of the clans, though every individual technically has a say in the matters that are discussed. Men usually represent their families at the Thing, but in the event of a man’s death, his wife may take his place. Issues relevant to the region are discussed and any disputes between clans are settled. Matters of justice are also dealt with at the Thing. Those involved present their cases to the assembly and their guilt is determined, along with their punishment. In most cases, individuals found guilty of a crime are fined at a level deemed appropriate for the crime. However, in extreme cases - such as murder - the individuals affected are allowed to exact revenge upon the perpetrator of the crime. Each year, an individual is chosen by the people to represent the interests of the area at the National Thing.

The National Thing is comprised of those members nominated at their Regional Things, along with the chieftains of the ancient Warrior Clans. It is presided over by the High Chieftain (i.e. - the king) and his advisors. Issues of political interest to the nation are discussed and voted upon by its members, and the representatives of the different regions may bring any of their various concerns to the table for discussion. While each member of the assembly has a vote, the High Chieftain usually finds himself backed by the leaders of the warrior clans - helping things fall in his favour. Most recently, the assembly met to discuss the rebuilding efforts following the war, as well as the impact of the war on international trade.

Military: The Runic Kingdom has a history steeped in bloodshed. Its earliest inhabitants were always feuding, and it wasn’t until people started appearing from outside the country that these clans banded together to defend what would become known as the Runic Kingdom. Descendants of these ancient clans exist today, often making up part of the aristocracy in the larger settlements, where their families likely originated. There have, of course, been splits over the years - and old wounds are often passed down from generation to generation so that disputes are rekindled. The descendants of these clans are usually respected, however, and most still have heavy involvement in the military.

Good fighters and tacticians are obviously not just confined to these clans - anyone can find a place in the military. In recent times - thanks to the Gods making the Tiwaz Rune some generations ago a woman - women have been allowed into the ranks as fighters. Though it is still a rare sight, and most women stick to the more traditional roles of healers and - in the case of volvas - advisors.

There is a strong sense of pride when it comes to battle - whether it be on the offensive or defensive. Many of the Gods delight in war - with their strength and spirit being emulated by the people. It is no surprise to find that the Runic Kingdom normally has quite a decent army. Numbers are bolstered during wartime with individuals seeking honour and excitement - you’ll find most men can handle a weapon. Presently numbers are down though. There were many losses during the recent hostilities, and currently military efforts are concentrated on rebuilding and protecting those places that were hit hardest.

History: As mentioned in the previous section, the Runic Kingdom had its beginnings with a number of warring clans. These obviously grew over time and splits occurred - with groups moving to settle new areas. Each of the clans had their own rules and regulations, but with their beliefs stemming from the same set of Gods, these often weren’t too far removed from one another. As the population of the country continued to grow and expand, threats from outside became apparent and the clans had to band together to protect their land and their way of life. With this newfound sense of unity, the people of the Runic Kingdom were able to peruse new opportunities. It was during this time that the Runic Kingdom really began to develop as a nation. A new tier of governance came into existence with the chiefs of the clans meeting to make the big decisions. Seafaring became incredibly important - with new opportunities arising for trade ..and war. The country experienced both immigration and emigration - and even with both - the population continued to rise steadily. The settlements of the old clans became towns and cities with a new life and purpose - forming the basis of the kingdom we see today.

In recent times, the Runic Kingdom has seen war with the Arcane. There’s always been tension between the neighbours. Both sides experienced heavy losses though - with towns inland, as well as those along the coast, seeing a lot of fighting and destruction. The Runic Kingdom managed to hold its ports, but no side really ‘won’ the war. There is a great deal of rebuilding to be done - not only of towns, but of lives. A lot of trade has been interrupted and the army needs to boost its ranks one more. The great nation has certainly been dealt a blow, but they hope to rebuild and be stronger than ever. Revenge is certainly in the sights for some.

The outlaying area is largely a series of villages properly taken care of by the King and his nobles. There is a gate into the main city and all of the villages are protected by some sort of gate or wall.

Ruler: King Louis. His twin sister Elizabeth plays a large role in government. The King keeps close council with his top advisors and never makes a choice without consulting others, it's very democratic for a monarchy.

People: 58% Native, 32% Mixed, 10% Other

The House of Swords is very accepting of other cultures and people so it's pretty diverse even in the aristocracy itself. Many of the people marry someone from outside of the kingdom. The aristocracy is the aristocracy because they are good at their jobs, not because of lineage. Everyone has earned their spot.

The poorer people live in more outlying areas, such as the rural towns, or small communities on the edge of the city. For many orphans there are apprenticeships which can help them grow and learn a trait. There is a large chance that someone from the outlaying areas could get into the aristocracy through their works (ex. Kohaku).

Religion: There is no official religion for the House of Swords. There is a mix of diverse religions ranging from polytheistic to astrologically based religions to monotheism. This is largely because a lot of the culture in the Swords Kingdom is imported by immigrants.

Military: The military is very well trained, there are many ranks and officers to maintain the large numbers. A large portion of the day is spent training and both men and women are trained for battle. Although there is a large emphasis on training militarily the Kingdom is quiet peaceful and only uses military force when all other options have been exhausted.

Rights: All people have equal rights.

History: Louis was given the Sword Kingdom by his father Kingston.

It is widely known that Louis and his father share a difference of opinion on many things such as succession rules, aristocracy, and ruling in general but Louis does his best to keep civil with his father.

During the Runic War Louis tried to stay neutral but there was much clamor in the house about going to war with his father so as not to be threatened by him later. They needed a powerful ally and couldn't afford the emperors distaste. At the very end of the war Louis joined in on his father's side.

The House of Swords has not been known as a military-centered kingdom, there has always been more influence on scholarship, research, learning, art, and culture. It has been more friendly to new comers and accepting of new and old customs.

The kingship, in the Staves kingdom, passes on to the eldest prince in the event that the king dies or is unable to rule.

People: 79% Native, 13% Refugee, 7% Mixed, <1% Other

Out of the four brothers, Christoph met the most resistance by the people of the kingdom he were to rule over. The hesitation of the Staves about Christoph taking the throne was due to worries that he'd try and change their ways.

The Stave kingdom, a mountaneous area full of simple people, was (and still is) the area of the prior Arcane kingdom the least travelled to (namely due to it's difficult terrain to navigate through). Thus, Staves tend to be a bit fearsome of outsiders and prefer to just keep to themselves.

Christoph was, surprisingly, accepted by the Stave people as their leader in a relatively short period. Christoph was on the same page for a majority of the Stave's beliefs and way of doing things. He allows the people of his kingdom to have a lot of freedoms and rules over them quietly.

The only city of the Stave kingdom, Anastavia, is the single area with virtually all of the refugees and non-Native persons in the kingdom.

Geography: Anastavia is situated in a valley at the base of the largest mountain in the kingdom. More specifically, the city is located on the southeast tip of the kingdom that juts out into the ocean. It is also arguably the largest, second to the city surrounding the Arcane castle, city in all five of the kingdoms.

The edge of the city, that is hugged by the ocean, is a cliff that drops down hundreds of feet to the salty waters below. The outrageous cliffs make Anastavia virtually impossible to invade from the water and, if the cliffs don't make outsiders second guess attacking, then the wall along the cliffs will.

The northwest side of the city is where the mountains begin, overshadowing the city when the sun is in the right place. The royal castle is conveniently located on the mountainside and looks down over all of the city.

Scattered throughout the rest of the kingdom are tiny communities (and sometimes just families living off the land all on their own) throughout the mountains here and there.

Religion: There is no established religion and all are allowed to practice freely.

Military: The Staves kingdom's military is quite fierce and has never been on the defense in any battle (the terrain a major factor). Typically women do not serve but its not unheard of.

Rights: Basic rights have been instilled over the kingdom. Again, the Staves are rather simple people who could care less what others outside of their family do or take part in. Any serious offenses such as theft, murder, etc. is taken care of by a small council appointed by Christoph himself.

There are thick forests spread throughout the territory which shelter various wildlife, and are constantly cut and renewed for logging. The majority of the population lives in the large walled city surrounding the castle at the centre of the Kingdom, though there are smaller, established villages in other areas. The main areas of trade are in the main city and at small ports around the coast.

People: 81% Native, 17% Mixed, 2% Other (noun/adj. Temperant)

The Kingdom of Pentacles is located in the southwestern corner of Kingston Westerveldt's empire, furthest from the battlefront on the shores of the Arcane. Prior to its annexation as a kingdom, the Pentacleon people had lived in the area for many centuries. The Pentacleons are distinguishable from their neighbours by their dark complexions and religious devotion to a deity named Temperance, and the strict laws that are placed upon their peoples in his/her name.

Temperance is a religion similar to Medieval Christianity, though there is no Christ-figure to speak of. Temperance is the One God, and his/her representative is the Ayatollah, elected for a life term by fellow religious leaders upon the death of the previous Ayatollah. The Ayatollah is second in authority only to the King. The religion is strictly followed, at times fanatically. Certain aspects of the Temperance religion that have had major impact on the history of the kingdom include the Transgressions, such as adultery and the matter of illegitimate children, drinking on Fridays, and the acceptance (or absolute lack thereof) of other religions.

The castle is built on a high hill surrounded by a mountainous area. Many of the houses here are built into the hills. The outlying area to the south and west is valley which extends into flat grasslands. The outlying area north and east is craggy rocks and cliffs falling into the sea. This area is difficult to traverse and not open to water travel, which provided some natural protection to the House of Cups during the war.

Ruler: Queen Emi Westerveldt, formerly King Malcolm Westerveldt. Emperor Kingston Westerveldt is trying to wrestle control from his daughter-in-law

People: 68% Native, 26% Refugee, 4% Mixed, 2% Other

The people of the House of Cups have always been very welcoming, which accounts for the high number of refugees, many of them from other kingdoms, particularly the war besieged Runes.

Religion: There is no official state religion, however it is commonly accepted that everyone practices the House religion. It's something akin to Zen Buddhism and I'll come up with a name for it when I'm feeling a little more creative.

Military: The Cups military has always been very strong. Women fight as well as men, both train daily to maintain their skill. Their skill and constant upkeep might help explain why the Cups House came out of the war relatively unscathed.

Rights: For the people, rights are fairly progressive. Women have almost equal rights, except when it comes to the throne, which is simply because Kingston doesn't believe that women should inherit leadership positions. This is one point that Malcolm differed with his father. He would have been happy leaving his throne to Princess Aiko (or any of his daughters, really), but Kingston insisted that Malcolm had a male heir (which lead Malcolm to go astray of his wife).

The people are invited to come to forums held monthly to discuss problems they may have with the current ruler. Emi has taken over these forums since her husband's death, but again, Kingston is trying to muscle his way in.

The kingdom is not so progressive in terms of sexuality. Gay marriage is unheard of and gay relationships are kept secret. Adultery and unmarried sex aren't generally accepted either, though neither are considered a crime. Women are socially frowned upon when they have children out of wedlock, but they are not ostracized.

History: The Kingdom of Cups had been established long before Malcolm Westerveldt was granted the kingship.

They were a self-governed people who would elect officials to rule from the House of Cups, high on the hill. The people reacted well enough to Malcolm's elevation as king however. He married Emi Sato, one of their own, and quickly adjusted to the lifestyle and culture of the Cups without much altering of the system that they had in place (elections were nixed, but much beyond that the people still had a say in what goes on within their kingdom).

At present, since Malcolm's death, his wife has taken control of the House. The people have reacted favorably to her as a ruler, much to the chagrin of Emperor Westerveldt.

NOTE: I'm setting this up sort of preliminary, since Kingston is the head of the Arcane. If anyone else with Arcane has something to add, leave a comment and I'll amend.

Arcane Kingdom

Location: Central location within the empire

Geography: The area has a central castle surrounded by a city. The outlying area is largely undeveloped rural. The area was largely indefensible, as well as having an open port directly facing the Runic Kingdom, which lead to it's downfall during the Great War.

Ruler: Emperor Kingston Westerveldt. His wife Eve is the Empress in name only and has no "official" power.

People: 89% Native, 7% Mixed, 4% Other

The Arcane Kingdom composition is largely aristocratic. The castle and surrounding city are populated by the rich and affluent members of the House of Arcane.

It is extremely difficult to get into the Arcane Aristocracy; they are deeply ingrained in marital ties and maintaining family lines. There is very little upward mobility with the Arcane House (though there are a few exceptions to this rule).

The poorer people live in more outlying areas, such as the rural towns, or small communities on the edge of the city (such as servants and low level clerks).

Religion: The official religion of the Arcane is poly-theistic, with a bit of Church of England thrown in for good measure. It's not taken very seriously and those who chose to practice may. Often one will pick and choose which deity to worship or pray to based on needs or desires, which may shift to another deity depending on the situation.

Military: The military was relatively well trained before the war, but they were largely outnumbered by the Runes. The war was settled by the Arcane (not necessarily won), but at the cost of the Arcane military forces.

Rights: The people have only as many rights as Kingston is willing to grant. Women are not as free within the Arcane and often only gain power over their lives when they obtain the hallowed position of widows; their upward mobility is strictly confined to marrying well.

History: Kingston inherited the seat of the Emperor from his father.

Kingston had many sons and decided to set them up with their own kingdoms (in an effort to keep them from assassinating him to claim his seat of power). He divided up areas within the empire which were already separated (either geographically, religiously, or culturally) and set his sons up to be kings.

There were peaceful trade agreements with the Runic Kingdom which had better ports to reach other countries across the sea. Of course, this wasn't enough for Kingston; he wanted control of those ports. He decided to go to war with the Runes in an effort to take those ports and claim the Runic Kingdom as part of his extended empire.

The war didn't end well and both sides suffered massive causalities in terms of their military forces. The Arcane Kingdom was mostly destroyed, the castle bombed beyond recognition and the city surrounding it in rubble.

The Arcane Aristocracy was blown to the four corners of the Empire, each member of the once great house siding with old alliances while others decided to make new ones. The castle is being rebuilt while Kingston rules temporarily from the House of Cups, but he considers the conflict far from over.

He still doesn't have control of those ports, his armed forces decimated so that he cannot hold them or occupy any space in the Runic Kingdom. Kingston has set his eye on rebuilding his strength and striking again.

This tribe of vampires does not have a specific tribal name.

Originally from the mainland. This line was sired by Lysandra. Her progeny include Silas and Victor.

Victor left the group and returned to the island when Mary sired the niece of his dead lover. His progeny Euphemia decided to stay with Silas and his various progeny.

Now that the group has returned to the island they have reunited with Victor. They are opposed to the Nghrau. They killed Nataliya, an unnaturally aged vampire and have been living in her cabin in the Black Woods.

The family tree: includes the Nghrau side of the tree as well.

Availability: This is negotiable. It will have to be determined which vampire made the next.

Insula De Virsta: Vollmond Tribe History

The Vollmond are a pretty new tribe, they are thought to be an evolution of the once smart animals of the island.

Many of the Vollmond only have a few animals that they are able to turn into and control, but there are a few strong members of the tribe who can turn into any animal and control the transformation. New Vollmond members sometimes are unable to control their transformations and they typically can only turn into one animal, the animal that they most align with in characteristics.

The Vollmond can transform people into members of the tribe through scratches or bites that the people receive when a Vollmond member is in the form of an animal. A person can not be transformed if they receive an injury from a Vollmond tribe member while they are not in animal form. Of the members in the tribe now, no one has been forced or accidentally transformed, they all made the choice to join. There are many members who are not originally from the island because the Vollmond are a very open tribe who tend to be uninvolved in other tribes affairs.

The Vollmond do not age once they are turned unless they are born into the tribe. If they are born into the tribe they age slowly and stop aging around the physical age of thirty. The Vollmond tribe has been led by Odin for about fifty years.

Their ability to transform is strongest during the full moon, but they can transform whenever they like.

Availability: Open.

Insula De Virsta: Vatnadis Tribe History

The Vatnadís is the tribe of naiads. They are the water spirits that dwell in the waters of the Insula De Virsta. There are divided into four categories: The Limnatide, The Potameides, the Eleionomae, and the Crinaeae.

The Limnatide is the lake naiad. The lake is the tribal leader, as the strongest body of water. The lake also has the heavier burden. The Limnatide is responsible for almost all of the rituals for the tribe. One of the most important is the sole responsibility of the lake, a secret ceremony in which the Limnatide can free a lesser naiad from its body of water (however this ceremony will kill the naiad in the process). There is only one Limnatide on Insula De Virsta, embodying the Circular Lake.

The Potameides are river naiads. There are three Potameides in total. Tistrya is the eastern river. Ligeia is the southern river and Indra is the northern river, the oldest of the Potameides. If asked nicely the Potameides will ensure safe crossing from bank to bank.

Crinaeae are smaller bodies of water, such as fountains or puddles. They are born from time to time but do not often live long. Lilaea is a Crinaeae born of a particularly rainy season. Being young the Crinaeae often cause trouble, simply because they don't know better.

Corcyra is an Eleionomae born of a marshy swamp located in the Black Woods.

The Naiad is intimately connected to her body of water and her very existence depends on it. If the water dries up the naiad will die.

Naiads are always born female. The only male naiad is Daevas and he was transformed into a naiad by Rapithwin and the witches (he does not know this, nor that Rapithwin is really his mother and that he is a demi-god).

Naiads are essentially eternal as long as their water remains unharmed. Sometimes the naiads do not wish to live so long, and the Limnatide is called on to free the lesser naiad. All of the naiads are the original. None of them have needed the stone saber to free them.

All naiads are free to leave their body of water, but they usually have an insatiable thirst for water when on land. They typically do not stay out of their water for long. When outside of their water they like to stay close to it, idling on the beach or shore.

The naiads have a very close relationship with the Kouzelheks, as they border the tribe on three sides. They have good relationships with most tribes that live near them, however if a tribe crosses them (without permission, or by doing something cruel) the naiads are known to cause trouble.

When the Vatnadís meet as a tribe they gather at the lake. Sometimes they land on Estrella Island, but Daevas likes to discourage that.

Culturally speaking the Naiads are mostly singular beings. They interact with the tribes around them and pick up habits and manners of speaking from them. They do not have an overall manner about them. As a people they do have their own language which no other creature but the mermaids and selkies can understand. They have a close relationship with both tribes, as those tribes depend on the naiads well-being for their existence.

Availability: Not available, unless one of the naiads decides to end their existence at which point they would be replaced by a new naiad.

At present there is only one known banshee. In so far as Fiona knows she is the last of her line.

The Todesfee are banshees that wail when someone is about to die. At one time there was one banshee for each tribe on the island. They wear black or gray cloaks as a sign of respect for those they vocally mourn. Their eyes are often swollen and red from so much crying. It is worse for Fiona since she must cry for all tribes on the island now that she is the last banshee. Many of the others died (or went crazy from grief and then died) during the great elven war. The tribe has been dwindling since and Fiona was the last known banshee born of the all woman tribe. How they have children is something of a mystery, as banshees have never had relations outside of their own tribe (in truth they are not born, but formed as necessity dictates by the island itself. They appear in Corcyra's marsh and she tends to them when they are young).

Availability: There's potential for a few new, young Todesfee.

Insula De Virsta: Other (those who don't fit in a tribe)

The Other is a category we've been using for those who don't fit in a particular tribe (or used to but are now ghosts).

Doppelgangers
Dopplegangers, or ghostly doubles, are rare creatures that take on the form of other living people. Unless they've given up, dopplegangers are in constant search of the person they are the copy of. If they do not find the person they match, the doppleganger's body will die (just like any other human being) and will be reborn into a doppleganger of someone new, beginning the search all over again... and again... and again for all eternity.

A doppleganger will only stop being reincarnated when they replace the person they are double of. Said to be evil or sinister, suffering through the pain of death over and over leads dopplegangers to murdering the person they are the copy of. Assuming their persons identity, if they actually find them (an extremely rare accomplishment), is the only way to become a doppleganger no longer.

All dopplegangers remember all their past lives and, because of that, typically choose to live alone. Some, though, do find companionship with one another and decide to live together and need not search for whom they are double of.

There are no known tribes of dopplegangers, but a few do live on the island.

Ghosts
Most ghosts dwell on Estrella Island, though they have been known to "haunt" other places. They have a variety of abilities that must be learned after death.

Ghosts can move through space quickly (essentially "popping" up from one location to another). Their sense of time is skewed; it seems to move around them differently.

They are non-corporeal but they can physically touch one another.

With practice ghosts can prevent certain tribes from seeing them. Most non-magical humans cannot see them, but those who believe can. The witches can see ghosts unless specifically blocked.

The Wick Sisters
A group of women who live in Corcyra's marsh. They are similar to witches but their abilities are skewed because of their lineage.

Availability: Depending on who you want to play, the Other category is wide open.

Violence has plagued the dark elf village, making it hard for them to establish a stable community. They have lived in turmoil and squalor in dirty and primitive homes. War and destruction has been the focus of their lives because of the way they were built. When Idris rose to power in the tribe, he discovered they had other talents that they could focus on rather than on pure destruction. When alchemy was discovered, the tribe turned to more civilized pursuits, but they did not prosper for long because of the war with the light elves.

The dark elves have the power of necromancy and alchemy.

Availability: Open (pbs must be dark haired).

One of the very first vampires of all time went by the name of Edgar. He was the first vampire created by the Rapithwin's to survive and thrive after the women discovered that these soul-deficient creatures required the consumption of blood.

They are immortal. A vampire's body isn't fully alive and one must feed on blood to stay alive (vampires also cannot eat 'normal food'). They can actually go into sunlight although it is rarely ever done due to uncontrollable, rapid aging (i.e. about an hour in the sun is the equivalent to aging one year). This aging occurs because being in sunlight gives into the idea that the concept of a day exists, which means time exists, which therefore means an individual ages.

Vampires are abnormally, physically strong and quite fast. They can also fly because, it is said, they are not weighed down by a soul. But vampires do not fly a lot because this is when a vampire is most vulnerable. Their skin is pale and cold to the touch. Their pupils are always black and will turn blood red when they are hungry and can hunt by scent alone.

All three women fell in love with Edgar, and Edgar could feel love for another as well because these first forms of vampire still had a piece of their soul within them. His feelings toward the three women formed an odd relationship but he only truely loved Rapithwin. With that (and other problems between the three) he and Rapithwin escaped to the island to be together and to escape the war between the Gods.

When Rapithwin and Edgar could no longer be together, he was left on the island alone when she left to venture back to the outside world. At this point, the evil Rapithwin had created more vampires, these ones completely soul-less, and sent one (Ioana) to kill Edgar and Rapithwin out of jealousy.

When Ioana arrived to the island she discovered that Edgar was alone. For some reason she couldn't find it in herself to kill him and did not fulfill her task. In turn she stayed on the island, naturally because she did not want to return to the evil Rapithwin without having killed Edgar and Rapithwin. Thinking that what she felt was love, when really she just sought companionship (something consistent between vampire to vampire), the two eventually became partners.

Upon Rapithwin's return, Edgar and Ioana's relationship slowly deteriorated. Ioana sought new companionship - Norton (and Norwood inadvertently) - to make Edgar jealous. These two were both creations of Ioana's, completely soulless due to them being turned into vampires and not created as vampires.

When Rapithwin and Edgar gave birth to two boys, it pushed Ioana over the edge and she, Norton, and Norwood killed Edgar. Rapithwin was unable to prove that Ioana had been the one to kill Edgar and could not seek revenge without the rest of the island disapproving.

Ioana blames Edgar's death on the Kouzelheks and has stuck to that story ever since. Ioana, Norton, and Norwood have lived, for years, on the island ever since.

After the Kouzelheks aged the twin sons of Rapithwin and Edgar, Rapithwin hid them on the island. Rapithwin asked Victor (like Edgar, one of the original vampires created by the three Rapithwins) to come to the island to help her in hiding the boys and specifically for him to take care of Owen. Victor and Own then both pose as vampires from the mainland.

Owen has no memory of who he is (as well as his brother Daevas) and believes that he came from the mainland with Victor. The other two members, Aina and Abel, were witches that turned their backs on their tribe to join the vampire tribe.

This is the point at which the vampires are at the present moment. They live in the Midnight cliffs on the western edge of the island, mainly because they can hide best from the sunlight in the caves. They don't communicate with other tribes except at tribal meetings, that they do attend (usually by Victor). Ioana would claim to be the tribe's leader, though the rest of the island recognizes Victor as their leader.

The Nghrau tribe is:

Ioana Ovidiu: Currently she has been a member of the Nghrau tribe the longest.

Norton Peregrine: He is Ioana's companion and brother to Norwood. Norwood and his brotherly love for one another is the only human quality left within them.

Norwood Peregrine: Norwood is very much afraid of Norton but still thinks very highly of him and could not imagine life without him. Norwood follows whatever Ioana and Norton want him to do. Norwood has discovered that his companion is Abel, the newest Nghrau member and ex-witch.

Victor Monroe: Victor and Edgar go way back, back before even Ioana came into the picture. They were old friends and Victor was infuriated to hear that his dear friend had been murdered here on the island. This news struck a sore spot; Victor had lost his lover not too long before running into Rapithwin again and was more than willing the second time she asked him to come back to the island for her (to protect Owen).

Owen Everson: Owen doesn't know that he is Rapithwin and Edgar's son or that Daevas is his brother. He does not agree with many of the decisions Ioana makes and tries his best to keep his distance from most of the tribe, with the exception of Victor.

Abel Ghislain: Abel is the youngest of the vampires and former witch. He came to the Nghrau tribe with Aina Swane, also a former witch. His parents died when he was young and the family was very close with Aina and Claudette. The sister's raised him but he was much closer with Aina. It came to no one's surprise that he left with Aina, although it was quite the shock that of all the tribes, the two joined the vampires.

Abel and Norwood have some sort of love affair going on, though Abel doesn't know how much he can trust the young Peregrine.

Lucas: aligns more with Ioana.

West: is something on an outcast.

Aina: is West's progeny.

Availability: Yes, but only a few more. It will probably be important to determine who in the tribe "made" the new member.
