BIOGRAPHY
it was a miracle that meredith olivia avedon, was even born.  when her mother justine adams found out that she was pregnant, she was fifteen years old and just a sophomore in high school and in no way wanted to keep her baby. but, after going to the clinic and being completely unable to go through with it, she kept the child and went through the nine months of rumors, people talking behind her back and the baby's father not talking to her anymore. after many comlications that nearly ended justine and the baby to-be's lives, a c-section was performed on october 13th, 1990 and a baby girl was born. justine had decided the moment she had forgone an abortion that she would give the baby to a couple that desperately wanted a child and that was when adams changed to avedon. meredith grew up with what she could easily cite as the greatest parents in the world. her mother, lynn was a museum curator for the utah museum of fine arts and her father, david was a dentist who had recently started up his own practice about a year before the little girl came into their lives. the second lynn and david saw their to-be daughter, on the day she was born, they knew she was theirs, it just felt too right for her not to be and from that moment on she was all they surrounded their lives with. from when she was very little, she knew she had been adopted, her parents made sure not to hide that from her but in all honesty, meredith never cared about any of that and to her, lynn and david were her parents. finding justine was not a priority to her, ever because she felt no connection to her, she wasn't angry or upset or crushed, she understood the circumstances and the thought of it was never in there for her.

meredith's parents gave their daughter every opportunity in the world and in that, she was able to experience a lot. her life was shaped by many things from going to the museum with her mother to the old records her father used to play for her.  throughout her young life, she was interested in everything - like most kids are, she went from horseback riding to swimming to karate and nothing ever stuck. the only thing that ever kept her attention were art classes and ballet which she started very young and even now, continued to pursue them. the thing about lynn and david was that they encouraged meredith to be herself, to be whatever she wanted to be and never let anyone tell her otherwise. she was a free spirit from very young and both parents pushed for that .. without of course really pushing it. while of course her father was a little bummed when she didn't jump at the chance to learn about dentistry (the only thing she liked was the, as she called it, 'sucky thing') he loved that she enjoyed the art that her mother introduced to her. and so she ended up being kind of a weird kid, carrying around art supplies, books and polaroid cameras while she was dressed in the strangest clothes. her idea of a perfect outfit was a dress and rainboots, or her ballet shoes or just plain bare feet with as many clips and ribbons as her mother would let her wear in her hair. of course, this phase sort of gave way eventually but the personality of that little girl that she was just grew. being an only child influenced her as well since she was always entertaining herself when her parents couldn't, though this just caused her imagination and creativity to grow and grow which was quite apparent by her wild stories and drawings all over the house.

but, as we all must, that little, messy and weird girl grew up. of course, she still remained the same in many ways and all the best ways. while she traded in her ribboned hair and plasticy multi-colored rainboots for a more casual style and she wasn't the weird girl carrying around paints and singing songs she made up at the top of her lungs anymore, she was still a quirky little thing with a fantastic personality. meredith was still a free spirit, nothing could break her of that and everything about her expressed that. she was outspoken and unapologetic but even though she could come off a little brash and harsh, she was still such a sweetheart that it was hard to hate her. her years of artistic knowledge had cemented one thing in her life that she knew beyond a doubt was what she was all about. that was photography and she was fiercely passionate about it since she was about eleven years old. instead of carrying around those messy paints, it was at least two different types of cameras and she was a maniac with them. she loved everything about the process from capturing the image, to developing, to printing and anything she decided to add after, it was her passion. that was a certainty, that she was passionate and anything she truly loved, she put her whole self into it. ballet, which had been a huge part of her life, still was and she practiced religiously, hoping to be able to pursue both dance and photography in college when the time would come. school to her was really something that she needed to stay on top of because it would get her into a good school and so she stayed in honors classes and kept top marks, never falling below a 'b' and pushing herself to do her best. both of her parents expected that, she could do whatever she wanted but that always had to be number one.

and so through high school she started to shape and develop herself as a person even more. she joined other clubs, met different people and started to really get out of her own box. she was always into her dance and her art but in high school she started getting into different clubs, trying to make connections with different people. for a photo contest she did portraits of students in the school, from ever clique and walk of life and that really opened her eyes and made her a totally different person. another big influence in her life had become her boyfriend, gage who she had become tight friends with in eighth grade and the summer before they both started high school. they were different, he had a big family and opposite aspirations than she did but somehow the two of them clicked and they, despite rumors and assumptions that they would be over in a few months, have lasted through even now during their senior year and everything they've been through and she's learned from him, she knows she's a better person for. meredith was always the type of girl who didn't care about boys and relationships, but she can't see her life without him and would never want to. while them being together so long gave people faith in them, no one thinks it will last forever, after high school it'll be done, right? meredith can't see that, to not have him, her everything is just not even something she can wrap her mind around and she just won't at all. in a way, he's a part of her and what she is. and all in all, she is just a completely unique individual and has no apologies about that or the way she is. she says what she feels and never backs down but even through that, she has a heart of gold that sometimes her big mouth can hide. with it being her last year in high school, and her school of choice being far away, she has no idea where her life is heading but right now she's just taking the time to be who she wants to be and not worry about anything but living her life as it is in the now.
