Appearance: Bet likes to dress casually, wearing tank tops or t-shirts and jeans. She has her hair braided and sometimes pulls it back into a ponytail or dresses it with a bandana or headband.

Biography:Bernadette is the ward of demon-lawyer Margaret Caldwell.

"Born" to a drug addicted mother and absentee father, Bet didn't get the best start in life. She'd been in and out of foster homes for many years after the accidental overdose death of her mother and the continued absence of her father. Despite her frequent moving and behavioral problems, she was a very bright student and quick learner.

She came to the attention of Margaret after some peculiar happenings at the girl's junior high school. It didn't take long for Margaret to conclude that Bernadette was a special girl who needed a particular kind of help. Margaret took her in and the two have lived together since.

Bernadette was supposed to start college last year, but she had some setbacks personally which kept her from going. She was supposed to start at Burnham University in the fall, but Margaret uprooted her and brought her to Aylasia.

It turns out that this is the world Bernadette belongs in. Her real mother (which up until now Bet has not known about) is a demon who hid her daughter in another dimension. Margaret realized that Bet was actually Aylasian like her and insisted on taking her in (though keeping all of this secret from her charge).

When Margaret became fearful that Bet's real mother would find them in Burnham City she arranged for them to travel and has set up an apartment in New Meridian. Bet doesn't know much about her secret past, but she's already pressing Margaret for answers while trying to acclimate to this new setting.
