I should be working on a Biology project. But everybody knows that the internet is waaay more important than school, and sleep is for sissies.

- Weaknesses: Tiny. Also very naiive--knows how to deal with people in a diplomatic sense but not in a real-world friendship sense.

Personality:

Cold and aloof to strangers, Pim's a big sweetie once you get to know him. He's fiercely territorial and will claw you to shreds if you're in his stuff and he doesn't know you. He's very slow to trust new people, but once you earn his trust, it's yours to keep--unless you betray him, in which case he would sooner stab you than look your way. Pim is very intelligent and will set aside a small dislike in order to learn something new. Unless you're very close, don't touch him--he hates being touched and he will bite. He is also very proud and reluctant to ask anyone for help about anything.

Background:

Pim isn't a human being; he is a member of the Twinsouls¹. A Twinsoul is a being with a soul-form of both human and animal; known Twinsouls consist of avian, canid, and feline varieties. Pim is a Lupina, or a wolf. Therefore he possesses two forms: wolf and 'human'. When shifting from one form to another, hair colour and height are preserved; therefore Pim's wolf form is blue in colouration and 3'6" from nose to rump.

Pim is Crown Prince of the Lupina Albens Primera. Lupina are scattered throughout many dimensions, but the Lupina community in the dimension of the dimension called Solinium is considered the boss of all the other Lupina communities and is called the Primera community. Because of his royal blood, Pim's hair is light blue in colour. Non-royal Lupina Albens are coloured various shades of brown, with some grey here and there.

Lupina age at a factor of 1/100 compared to humans. A 1500-year-old Lupina appears to be fifteen years of age when compared to human society.

Pim was born a runt; the name "Pim" is actually a derogatory term for an under-average child (e.g.; "That boy is a pim"). Because of this, the then-king abandoned Pim in the forest near a small town on the outskirts of Lupina territory. One of the families there took Pim in and raised him as their child. Pim's surrogate mother was killed when he was ~350; the two were on a hunting expedition just outside Lupina territory when his mother, in wolf form, was attacked and killed by human hunters. The hunters, having no food themselves, cooked and ate Pim's mother, thinking she was just an ordinary wolf. (Pim didn't see this happening firsthand, thankfully.) Because of this, Pim has a murderous hatred for all werewolves².

Life was all very well until the Old King, Pim's father, passed away. Pim has two elder siblings: a brother, aged 1752, and a sister, aged 1568. (If those dates have any historical significance I'm going to laugh my ass off and then probably change them.) Since the Lupina Albens are a patriarchal society, Pim's mother and sister are not eligible for the throne. This wouldn't have been a problem, except Pim's elder brother discovered the hard way that he has berserker blood. Because of this, he doesn't trust himself to rule competently when his anger could send him over the edge. And so a search for Pim was begun. He was found a few years later, christened Shiö, and moved into the palace. Pim's elder brother is still king but plans to abdicate as soon as he feels his little brother has the necessary training.

Background on Solinium:

Solinium is an advanced dimension, as far as dimensions go. It is home to several native species of intelligent life-forms, the most prominent being the Lupina and the humans. Solinium is where the Sunhammer and the Thousand Shining Ones were first materialized in spirit form by the Hammer-Maker. It was also the site of the Rift and the following Desolate Millennium³. Nowadays it, with the help of the Sunhammer-Regent, monitors the surrounding dimensions for signs of instability and trouble. If any are detected, someone of the appropriate rank and power level is dispatched to remedy the situation.

Most of the humans in Solinium have magical ability and it is quite rare to come across one that doesn't. Solinium is not technologically advanced, falling about the Middle Ages on an Earth timeline. The technology they use to monitor the dimensions around them comes from a neighboring dimension, very techologically advanced, that lends them the technology and maintenance work in exchange for information and the occasional gold coin.

Other Notables:

If you call him Pim, not Shiö, before getting to know him well enough, you will sport a nice set of claw marks.
He's not sure how to act around "commoners" that aren't in his social circle; inadvertently treats them with distain.
Pim loves his Lupina clothes and will fight you, tooth and claw, if you try to get him out of them for reasons not involving bathing.
Pim is a secret sucker for cute things. He dislikes being called cute, though, as he is a predator and predators aren't supposed to be cute.

He opened his eyes and he was not in his own bed. Or anywhere in the palace. And it certainly didn't smell like Lupina territory...

Everywhere there were streets, and people, and noise. It was clean, though; an unexpected boon. He pressed himself to a wall and tried to go unnoticed, a hard act to manage with blue hair and white clothes. It was loud; he didn't like that. Too many voices made a jumble in his head and confused him. His nose was overwhelmed by new smells. Nothing here was familiar.

He realised he must have slipped through into another dimension while he was sleeping. It was no place he knew, and as he ran through descriptions in his head, it din't match with an he'd heard of. An unknown dimension, then. He had confidence in the Citadel, though. Saki would find him gone soon enough--she had promised him that creature called yak and was going to bring it to him shortly--and inform the people there, and they would find him.

For now, he would need to find out where he was, where he could get food, where he could sleep. He stared at the streets and at the people passing by. Darting out his arm suddenly, he snagged the sleeve of a passing man.

"Where am I? Tell me at once," he demanded.

The man stared, confused by this small person, his..or her..? unusual hair colour, and the tone of authority ringing through his or her voice. "You're in Ludus, kid," he replied eventually.

"Who is ruler here?" Pim demanded.

"The Chairman," responded the man, trying to extricate his arm from Pim's iron grip.

"You will take me to him," Pim ordered. The man simply stared, yanked his arm away from Pim, and left the young Lupina standing there, stranded in an unfamiliar town.

2. "But what does his mother being accidentally eaten have to do with werewolves?!" it's a bit of a long story. Lupina have a hormone in their bodies that works in a very similar way to our stress hormone. In the natural course of things, this hormone is released in small amounts and causes a change in the Lupina once a month, on the full moon for Lupina Albens and on the new moon for Lupina Umbra. The Lupina shift into a God-form: a gigantaur spirit-shape, white-coloured for the Albens and dark-coloured for the Umbra. The God mode... doesn't really do anything. It mutes all sound around it for several miles; Albens God-forms act like plant fertilizer: if an Albens God steps on it, it perks up and gets healthier, while the opposite is true for Umbra God-forms. Both God-forms kill any animal life they touch, but at the pace they move plus their size, you'd have to be deaf, dumb, and blind to not be able to avoid one.

But that's what it does under normal conditions. In trying physical and/or mental conditions, the hormone releases in far greater amounts then usual, causing a buildup in the Lupina system. Eventually, if it builds up too much, the Lupina will get stuck halfway between God-form and normal Lupina form and go berserk, attacking anything that moves. It's highly possible (and not that hard) to bring a Lupina out from this state but it takes someone with a lot of skill to do it, mostly because they move so damn fast.

Now, there is no way any human hunter is going to be able to capture and kill a healthy Lupina, as Lupina can outrun, outsee, outhear, and faaaaaaar outsmell the average human. Actually they can outsmell any human, average or no. It comes from being a Twinsoul with a wolf. But anyway, since a healthy Lupina cannot be killed by these hunters, any Lupina that is captured would have massive amounts of this change-causing hormone in their bodies. When humans ingest that hormone--voila! Werewolf!

And that is why Pim hates werewolves.

tl;dr- It has to do with biology.

3: The Sunhammer and the Thousand Shining Ones are spirits, the Rift was a disagreement between these spirits, and the Desolate Millennium is the resulting war. (I'm planning to flesh out this some more but I still have biology to do! In the meantime, if you're curious and would like to know more, please do ask.)
