I`m in love with my lust
Burning angel wings to dust
I wish I had your angel tonight

Full name: Feliciano "Felix" Salazar
Age/DOB: 25 / September 13th, 1493; died in the 1980s
Race: Human, reborn
Occupation: N/A
Birthplace: Toledo, Spain

Personality: Felix is, for lack of a better word, apathetic. He's just shy of technically being a sociopath, and nothing in life stirs his interest outside of either his own self-destruction or his abnormal lust for his sister. Felix is an adaptive creature, able to view any situation from an objective view and decide on the best course of action required for his survival or his desired outcome.

He rarely smiles or laughs (except in the presence of his sister), and his general expression is one of a blank or stoic nature. His movements are precise and calculated, though this is all unconsciously done. For most intents and purposes, Felix is a robot that operates on the perogative of survival. He does not wish to die, but he does not necessarily enjoy things that other people do - the rich taste of a good meal, the delicate sound of a well-plucked instrument, or the lush feel of an expensive fabric. Outside of the company of his sister, he would prefer solitude; perhaps the one thing that can drive him to some kind of emotion is the wielding of a blade, which is something he's very practiced in. He can be given to possessiveness and jealousy, sometimes of an immature nature, when the topic comes to Eugenie and with whom she spends her time.

Felix generally prefers dark clothing, mostly for it's simplicity and anonymity. Since being reborn he's stuck to the same status quo; his original form was that of a tall, dark-haired man. He was also said to smile often, which was probably more due to the fact that he and his sister were freed from the constraints of mortal society and its taboos. Since being reborn, his form is of a lanky twenty five year old young man with longish brown hair and a not displeasing face - however, this attractiveness often goes unused. His posture is board-straight.

Biography: On September 13th, 1493 (just a year after King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella financed Christopher Columbus' voyage to find a new route to the Indies), a healthy baby boy was born to Esteban and Mariella Salazar, wealthy Spanish aristocracy, in Toledo, Spain. Well, not quite aristocracy - two generations back the original family name, Enriquez, had married well (the old case of we have the title, but you have the coin) and moved up in the world. The parents of the newborn named him Feliciano, in honor of the happiness he was sure to bring his family.

From the start, however, Feliciano was...not strange, necessarily. Nor odd, nor angry, nor sullen. He never really made much of himself - he took orders well enough from his nannies, learned his schooling without complaint, and when his numerous siblings followed after him, he rarely batted an eyelash when told to watch over them. His parents were afraid he was soft in the mind, or perhaps the devil had ensnared him. You see, the Inquisition was rampant and doing quite well in Spain in those times, making the atmosphere one of deep fear as well as faith that could be brought on by the simple cracking of a whip. He could be, however, very smart-mouthed when given the opportunity or desire, but these were quick flashes that potentially revealed the true intelligence lying underneath the assumed facade of an idiot.

As Feliciano grew older, he did start to shine in one area, and that was with the sword. His father relished his son's aptitude in this skill, hoping that perhaps he'd perform well in the military and take up arms in the family name. There was nothing more auspicious than having a lieutenant or a general in the family! But Feliciano gave no real notice to this idea, seemingly content to practice with his blades and watch over his siblings.

Eventually Feliciano grew old enough to begin lessons with other boys his age, and he took to being a follower rather than a leader in a particular group of boys. Their scuffles and pranks were somewhat legendary in their town, especially in the gossip spoken between housewives. This sort of talk would not do for the family, and Feliciano's father did his best to literally beat it out of his eldest son (he was a "spare not the rod" sort of fellow). Feliciano did not take to this sort of treatment well, and began to rebel against his parents in the worst sort of ways as he grew older. His exploits included a strong dose of alcohol, able to drink the best under the table, dabbling in new drugs from the Orient, and getting into as many brawls a day as he could.

Many a time he was dumped on his parent's doorstep, bloody and bruised, bearing some new scar from either a fist or a knife. And again and again, his youngest sister Eugenia would tend to him - he would rail against his mother, absolutely refuse his father, and throw whatever came to hand at the doctors his parents acquired in the name of tending to him. For, you see, Eugenia seemed to be the only one who could calm him. Three years his junior, the girl was the light to his dark. If Feliciano spent any time at home, it was with her, reading books or discussing the latest goings on of court life.

When Feliciano was seventeen, he was betrothed and married off to Lady Amelia Castillo, a daughter of true Spanish nobility, and a very fine addition to the Salazar family tree. Feliciano showed little interest in his bride, though he took her to bed as often as was required of him. Now instead of joining the military, his life was at court with his wife and her family - King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella's court was a dower one, with little entertainment and stronger emphasis on religion, which Feliciano felt little love toward. Finally his wife fell pregnant, and Feliciano began to leave her for longer periods of time - mainly to be spent with Eugenia, at the family home. His parents thought little of it, the two had always been close, though rumors abounded. Most were written off as gossip and slander, but they persisted.

And Feliciano's temper did not soften with a courtier's life - instead, the quick wit that showed so little in childhood began to emerge with a vengeance. He became well known for his barbs and made few friends, causing his in-laws to dislike him immensely. He killed a man in a duel, his blade proving even sharper than his words, which sent a wave of shock through the court. A divorce was filed just two years after the marriage (the child turned out to be a daughter, and was certainly not a bargaining chip in the Salazar's favor), since Feliciano seemed intent on dragging his family's name through the mud. Feliciano was unwelcome back home, however, and instead his parents sent Eugenia to live with him at court; she had just recently been married as well, and his parents continued to hope that her presence would calm and rationalize him.

But Eugenia was married, and her favors lay much more with her husband (whom she'd grown to tolerate) and her daughter, who was newly born. Feliciano doted on his niece, though it was more for Eugenia's pleasure than for Isabella's. The little girl reminded him of his sister, but she was certainly no substitute at such a young age. Feliciano tried to garner more attention from his sweet sister, but she was much too involved in her own family. He took this as an insult, a deeply personal one, and began to pull away even from her. When she fell pregnant with her second child, Felix found it almost too much to bear. Rather than looking to cleanse his name, he found more interest in taverns, gambling, drinking, whores (all who strikingly resembled his sister) and any other vices he could lay hand to. Whether he had a death wish or some inner void was discussed amongst the court, but no one could ever touch him when it came to swordplay.

One day, his verbal abuse flew too high and Feliciano insulted a wealthy politician at court. Rather than letting the words stand, the man challenged Feliciano to a duel - Feliciano accepted with no hesitation, and the next morning he struck the man down on the field within five minutes of the duel beginning. This kill was neither sweet nor happy for Feliciano; he had little wish to hurt others. He simply seemed incapable of love, and he pulled further into himself, taking up more and more bad habits. One night as he was headed back to his bachelor's apartments from a local tavern, he was surrounded by men in black robes and dragged into the sewers of the capital. It was a coven of Satanic vampires, who had been following Feliciano's progress with much interest, and found him to be a worthy member of their group. The Dark Gift was forced on Feliciano that night, and he disappeared from court entirely. Rumors flocked that his was the body that turned up in a nearby river; or that he’d run off to join a group of highway thieves, finding the life to be more adventurous and to his taste. Just as the rumors flew they fell, each more bizarre and unbelievable than the last. Finally he faded from mind entirely, most glad to be rid of him. Only his sister wondered what had become of him, for he had sent a letter not long before to arrange a meeting between the two of them.

Feliciano took to being a vampire as well as anyone - the first few weeks he railed at his captors, attempting to escape. They broke him by placing him in a sealed stone coffin, leaving him there for days on end until his wails stopped entirely. He was so craven with thirst that he was willing to do as he was told, no matter the consequence. And that night he took his first life as a vampire - a prostitute, selling her wares late, her flesh was soft and covered with the French disease, but he took her all the same. The next was a worker, going home after a long day's labor: a good man, with a wife and child. Feliciano knew no discrimination. He was taught that he was a scourge upon mankind, to visit punishment on all in order to prove that God was there, God was to be obeyed. And Feliciano believed this - he had lived a life full of wickedness, he had insulted and hurt others, he had killed someone, and, worst of all, he had lustful thoughts for his own sister. Eugenia. She was never far from his mind, wondering if her pregnancy was difficult or easy, if her husband was kind, if Isabella was turning into her mother.

As before, Feliciano proved that he could be docile. After some time (little more than a month or so), he proved to be a good, committed member of the coven, and the leaders paid less attention to him. He began to slip away at night, going to Eugenia's husband's home, in order to spy and be sure for himself that she was whole and well. Much to his dismay, this was not the case - her pregnancy was difficult, and she was confined to her bed for her own health. For weeks until the child's birth, Feliciano would spend as many nights as he could away from the coven, sitting by his sister's bedside, stroking her forehead with his hand (always sure to be warm by the time he arrived in her room) and whispering soft words to her in the form of comfort. The thought of losing her so permanently rocked him to his very core.

Finally the child was born, and his sister seemed to recover, albeit slowly. After the child's birth (and she named the child for him, his sweet sister, he knew that she loved him still), he forced himself to stay away - Isabella and Feliciano required her attention, and she seemed to be happier with them. The thought stung him, but what was he to do? They were in two different worlds now: he, a monster, and she, a mother. It seemed fitting that they'd both found their places in the world, but he could not deny that his heart still beat vividly at the sight of her. The healthy, sun-kissed skin, large blue eyes, long golden locks... The smell of her body, of her blood, the way she moved and laughed and held her children... All of this was burned to ash at the thought of her growing old and dying. Dying. He could not imagine a world without his Eugenia, found it so unfair that he should be damned to live an eternity without her.

He made a decision; perhaps it was out of selfishness, or perhaps he convinced himself that this was for the good of both of them.

It delighted him that, at first sight, she ran to him and wrapped herself in his arms. So like when they were children, she'd fling herself at him without thought for propriety. Quietly, and slowly, he explained as much as he could without frightening her. His sentences were fragments, the statements of a madman, unraveling just as soon as they hit the air. He could feel her pulling away from him, or perhaps he imagined it, but no, this was his chance and she smelled so good... Before he knew what had occurred, Feliciano buried his mouth in her sweet little neck and drank, drank until he felt her go limp and cold against him. Not enough to drain her completely, but enough for her to require his blood to go on living. He fed her his blood, and as he did so, felt her mind close to him - that was one thing he would lament for years to come, that the true closeness of knowing one another's thoughts would be forever denied to them.

He took Eugenia back to the coven, where he cared for her. The coven leaders were shocked at his actions – the only ones to join them were to be evil men and women, those who were fit to serve Satan. Eugenia was a sweet, beautiful young woman; but Feliciano would not allow anyone to hurt her, nor would he allow them to be parted. He convinced the leaders that this was meant to be, that he was serving their master and proving himself even more faithful to their cause by bringing his own sister into the darkness. This did little to calm the leaders, and finally Feliciano promised that he would turn Eugenia into a fine member of the coven, prove that she would be an asset, which caused the leaders of the coven to finally let the issue go.

Eugenia, meanwhile, was less than pleased at being stolen from her mortal life - while he doted and spoiled her in the only ways he knew how, she pulled away from him and into her own mind. This drove Feliciano mad; he could not bear Eugenia’s hatred. Whatever he could do to please her, to make her love him again, he tried, but nothing seemed to assuage her; finally she found him to be the lesser evil next to the coven, and began to warm to him again. He taught her to kill, tried to make her understand how to enjoy it, but she missed her children too much. Feliciano could not deny his sweet sister anything, and so from time to time, he would take her to watch the sleeping faces of her children, who never understood what had happened to their beloved mother.

This went on for years as the norm of their lives - by night, killing, and protecting the lives that Eugenia had given birth to. If Feliciano ever showed interest in his own daughter's growth or marriages, he never made it known to anyone else. His whole world was nothing but Eugenia. After some time, Feliciano and his sister left Spain to accompany Armand to Paris and establish a branch of the coven there. Feliciano showed little care for the coven’s rules at that point, especially since he had what he wanted, and more than once he and Armand came to blows when Feliciano or Eugenia would move about on their own.

And then Lestat and his mother, Gabrielle, disrupted this normality. Feliciano found the man and woman intriguing, both beautiful and beguiling. They prodded at the structure of the coven, questioned the dogma they lived by and created holes in the faith all carried; and then left. Feliciano did not find this revelation to be as appalling as some – for years the common sense he’d had as a mortal had started to overcome the religious fervor that had conquered his mind in death.

Their leader, on the other hand, Armand, was incredibly upset by this flux, and his answer was to destroy what he had created. Along with Eleni and several others, Feliciano and his sister fled the coven and found Lestat again, asking for protection from one so young. In exchange for caring for Nicholas de Lenfent, the lover and insane fledgling of Lestat, they were given a theater and a way to protect themselves. The siblings adopted modern versions of their names, in an attempt to sever themselves from their past lives – Feliciano took up the simple name of Felix, and Eugenia became Eugenie. Not huge changes, but enough for them to consider themselves different people.

Life in the theater was in many ways different from life in the coven, and yet still incredibly similar. They had two rulers – the crazed Nicki, and the quiet Eleni. It was truly Eleni who pulled the strings of the theater, under the pretense that Nicki ruled them. Each night they would perform for mortals mocking scenes of death and destruction; this was Nicki’s grand plan, to prance about as what they truly were before the mortal eye. Vampires pretending to be humans pretending to be vampires. If Felix had a sense of humor, he might have found such a thing to be amusing, but he had never been given such a leaning. Instead he merely did as he was instructed, ever looking to simply protect Eugenie and keep them together as he’d promised her when he’d brought her into the darkness. When he saw that Eugenie truly loved the stage life, he did, as always, everything he could to keep her happy. He cared little for it, except in the plays where he was allowed to wield a sword – otherwise, there was nothing for him except his sister.
By 1812, though, he found himself restless. Those they’d come to the theater with had either removed themselves from their immortal bondage through flame or had left to explore the world on their own terms – from time to time, Felix also felt hatred from the others, judgment regarding his and Eugenie’s relationship. Even if they were damned, the others felt that what they were was even more wrong. Rather than strike out at this perceived assumptions, Eugenie and Felix left the theater to explore the world to see how much it had changed since their age. Eventually they came to settle in Naples, Italy – close to their home country of Spain, though neither truly wished to live in their native land again. It was too much changed.

Then the startling dreams began. Red-haired twins, a long awaited fulfillment of a curse, and a queen. Felix had no idea what to make of these dreams, and that Eugenie was having them too frightened him to his core. There had never been anything that he couldn’t protect them against; they were both too old and too strong for most other vampires, and for the most part, they kept to themselves. Felix needed to know more, and one night he left Eugenie with the promise that he would return soon, hopefully with more information regarding what was happening somewhere in the world.

Instead of discovering the source of these events, Felix burned. Without reason or cause, as he was moving down a street, flame erupted from within his gut and quickly began to consume his form. The first thought to spring to mind was that the flames of hell were finally upon him, that all the religious talk he’d ever heard was right, that now he was being eaten alive for his misdeeds throughout the hundreds of years he’d been alive. The flame licked along his arms and he ran, ran toward the warm waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea, the thought that he could douse himself, save himself, and then immediately return to Eugenie to make sure she was all right. Eugenie, the last and final thought of his long existence was of his sweet sister, who couldn’t hear him calling out for her because of the wall placed between their minds at the moment of her vampiric conception.

His rebirth was something of a shock, to say the least. Having been truly dead for little over twenty years, Felix had grown used to being non-corporeal – not to say that he could remember much of being dead. But his last memories were of burning, being burned alive from the inside, and suddenly he was…alive. He found himself to have been the victim of robbery – a backpacker hiking through Europe had fallen to the blade of an attacker, his possessions stolen. Felix was utterly bewildered as to where he was (Germany), but thankfully someone spotted him and quickly called an ambulance for his assistance. He spent a month in a hospital being rehabilitated (mostly because no one could find any record of a Felix Salazar, at least not one matching his description) and then was finally let go on his own. Felix was resourceful – he managed to get a job at a local deli, making enough income to house and feed himself. It took time to adjust to his new status, but what was ever present on his mind was finding Eugenie.

But where to start? The world was huge, and he no longer had the powers he’d once acquired as a vampire. All of that changed when he found the Vampire Chronicles in a local bookstore, which explained everything to him. The note of his death was there, but what of his sweet sister? Nothing. But a location was named, and Felix made it his goal to head there; at least if anything, other vampires would be present and perhaps they’d know of his sister.

New Orleans.

Abilities/Powers: As a human reborn, Felix will not retain any of his previous vampire powers. Instead, he carries over his ability to adapt to most if not all situations, his fluid grace from years of swordplay and training, as well as the ability to speak several languages.

EXAMPLES
First person: I miss the days when one could bite a coin betwixt teeth and account its value in a more tangible method. Still, greed was never said to be one of my faults. I need money to cross the waters keeping me from New Orleans. Everything has a step - gain currency. Currency for a faux passport. Currency for passage. Passage to reach my destination, which all is in the vain hope that someone there will be able to tell me where she is. Of course, there's no way to be sure that they will know, let alone tell me. I no longer boast the strength I did, twenty years ago. Strength, cunning, all born of nearly four hundred years of life. I know how (and some why) it was that I came to burn, but it doesn't matter. Does anyone know where she is? If she is alive, unharmed? Did the mad Queen destroy her, is she hiding somewhere with others of our kind? And can I even call myself that any longer, now that this flesh is soft and mortal...

Third person:

MISC
General plan: Felix's general plan will be to find Eugenie. After that, his next step will be to become a vampire through whatever means necessary. After that, who knows!
