Dumb newspaper deliveries... grumble... [Jul. 11th, 2004|02:54 pm]
I have a paper round.

Now, there's a system for delivering newspapers which is fast, efficient, easier for both the sorters and the deliverers, accurate, and does not waste paper.

Let's hear a w00t for that!

It's called "writing the house numbers on the newspapers".

We have stopped using this system. Now we use one which is slower, less efficient (because it is easier to get confused), harder, less accurate (ditto), and wastes paper.

It's called "writing the house numbers on a seperate piece of paper and trying to remember which number corresponds to which unmarked newspaper".

With all the paper rounds at our newsagents, we have at the least ten pieces of paper per day, more on Sundays. 10 x 7 = 70 wasted per week. That's 280 sheets a month, and... wait for it... 940800 sheets of A4 paper wasted per year.

Bit stupid, isn't it? *loses hope in humanity*
