Dimensions 101

❧ Dimensional travel: What’s it for?

We can’t pinpoint the exact date or when it first happened but dimension travel is part of life. A valuable asset as indispensable as electricity is on Modern day earth. Indeed, for several millennia now, man has used its benefits in order to progress exponentially. It has become a sort of ‘Dimensional Network’ in which information, goods and people circulate from one dimension to the next. Civilizations nowadays use Dimension travel to its utmost potential and sure enough, it’s widely accepted as being something positive for people and entire worlds alike.

❧ Where does Dimension Travel come from?

Dimensional travel was made possible thanks to magic and that continues to be the case today. However, the amount of magic needed in order for it to function is massive. As Dimension Travel started to become more and more used, the amount raw magic needed increased. The consequence of this was that the magic began to overflow and seep its way into dimensions to varying degrees. Certain dimensions weren’t fit for holding a lot of magic and were destroyed because of it. At that point, it was already too late to back and close off all dimensional travel (they had already grown too dependent on it) so an entity known as a ‘Dimensional Bubble’ was created.

❧ What are Dimension Bubbles?
Situated in the area ‘in between’ Dimensions (space) this entity created from raw magic acts as an equalizer to the amount of magic that pours into the dimensions. There are an infinite number of DBs to which are connected all Dimensions, and the only way to travel from one dimension to the next is through these places. In other words, they are points of transit, stations if you will.

Ludus is a Dimension Bubble (DB/DBubble/Bubble/AnyWeirdSuchVariation)

What is a Dimension Bender?

If Dimension Bubbles are equalizers to magic, there exist people who can manipulate the DB’s power and change the levels of magic in any given dimension; regulators, of sorts. These select few are called Dimension Benders, and they are the people who determine how much magic a dimension can take and alter it accordingly. These are also the people who have the power to wipe out inhabitable dimensions.
They’re like Dimensional Repairmen. And the only way one can become a Dimension Bender through a long and excruciating path of hard work.

Dimensional Schools?

Created from Raw Magic, DBubbles are the only entity in existence that can sustain a Magic School. Too much magic in a dimension causes it to have disastrous consequences, but the exact opposite happens in a DBubble, it needs magic to survive and therefore hosting a magic school is the best place for it to draw energy. Moreover, for those attending the school, they can make use of their full magical potential.

School and Leveling System

Ludus Academy has a total of eight magic schools under it. Each school is divided into two main focuses. This makes for a total of 16 subjects in which to specialize and take classes in.

Each subject has a total of 4 levels:
❧ Novice (basic)
❧ Formidable (intermediate)
❧ Exceptional (advanced)
❧ Peerless (expert)

For each of the levels, there is an undisclosed number of classes that the students need to take before being able to graduate to the next level. This number is prepared by each professor beforehand and shall be posted at the beginning of the school year at the start of classes.

Students are free complete their subjects at their own pace. They are at liberty to choose how many subjects they want to take up at once and when they'd want to complete or discontinue their classes. There is no rush to graduate only the drive to learn.

At the start of classes, the teachers will present to the students a hallway full of 'Doors'.

There are 4 hallways in total per subject and each of them correspond to a certain rank or level. The doors themselves lead to the individual lessons or classes. These doors serve as gateways to tiny to rather large dimensions where the students will take their lessons and activities. The teachers have complete freedom over what a dimension door contains and what task the students will have to undertake.

Students don't necessarily have to complete the doors in order but they will not be granted the key to the succeeding hallway if they do not complete all the doors on their current level. Students are welcome to retake their classes as much as they'd like, even if they pass.

There is no such thing as grades in Ludus. There is only: PASS, FAIL or RESCUE

The doors come in all shapes and sizes; so can your mediums! Completing a door can be done with drabbles, lengthy stories, comics, doodles, illustrations or even animations. There are no penalties if a student fails a door, so we will totally not hold it against you if you make your character fail a door on purpose!

The Districts

Ludus Main (Upper Class)

Contains: Bureaucratic offices, a civil monument, guard posts, temples, manor house, hall of doors, lodging, food, shops, services, faculty offices, dormitories, residences, and Ludus Academy

The pride and center of the city and home of the elite youth: Ludus Main. Also known as Ludus Academy, it is not only a place of learning but is also the seat of government. Most anyone working here lives on a government salary. Large buildings with more grandeur than any other in the city surround the colorful gardens and carriage-filled streets. Some of those buildings are short and sturdy, others are tall and sleek, but none are as grand or as tall as the main tower in the center. This tower hosts the Chairman's quarters, the main government offices and the Academy itself. Here, magic is the most practiced than in any other area of the city. The residents are young, except for most of the staff, and most are pretty fashionable. As with most other wealthy neighborhoods, the poor are discouraged from loitering about.

D'Legatte (Upper Class)

Contains: Embassies, residences, lodging, food and shops

Ambassadors, officials, and visiting nobles from all across the multiverse are often housed in the embassy district of D'Legatte. The buildings here are of finer quality than most and some incorporate the traditional designs of their owner’s dimension of origin. The buzz of the area is noticeably different from the rest of the city due to the residents’ various languages and accents as they usually prefer turning their Alvarium translator off. More culturally distinct fashions abound here as well. D'Legatte is well guarded and people without legitimate business are politely escorted away.

Diverns (Upper Class)

Contains: Banks, lodging, food, shops, and residences

While most marketplaces are loud and rowdy, Diverns is refined. There is still some heavy traffic but it is not customary to haggle and the customers are in fine clothes. Negotiations are conducted politely and with grace. Shops are clean and neat, with lettered signs and tasteful decorations. The air has always a gentle touch of perfume and armed guards patrol around.

Aenean & Aedes (Upper Class)

Contains: Luxury estates

Aenean & Aedes or A&A is a district of well-tended gardens and colossal manor houses that feature every luxury, imaginable or not. Statues and fountains are the centerpieces of street intersections and private yards in this hilly area. Servants fill the streets running errands for their masters. Winding roads mold themselves along the hilly terrain while still allowing quick and easy travel. Many of the estates are fenced and most, if not all, are well-guarded.

Viridis Park (Upper Class)

Contains: Park, temples, hippie yoga circle, food, shops, services and residences

At Viridis Park, the sights and sounds of the city fade away. Visitors are given a few minutes of peace in this serene setting. Viridis offers open fields, trimmed and tended trees, running creeks, small hills, rocky outcroppings as well as some of the tamer flora and fauna found in Ludus Forest. The park is fenced with white metal spokes, partly to keep vandals away at night but mostly to keep the animals in. The district smells of wet grass and various orchids. Most everyone is welcome at Viridis Park and almost all understand and respect the serenity of the place.

Sedes Grove (Upper Class)

Contains: Residences

The neighborhood of Sedes Grove is less luxurious than Aenean & Aedes but not by much. Some areas sport houses and gardens that rival those of A&A. Most of the district however is covered by tall condominium buildings with units far more spacious and luxurious than most private homes anywhere else in the city. Many celebrities, successful businessmen and the like are known to live here.

Domus Homes (Middle Class)

Contains: Residences

The houses here are smaller than those in Sedes Grove, as are the lots. Some have good-sized yards, while others stick closely to their neighbors. Condominium and apartment units are a bit cramped with interiors less managed than in the upper districts. People here are a far cry from poverty but it is not rare to see structures less-maintained. Sounds of loud parties and night's traffic can be heard at the end of the day and clothing is more utilitarian than fashionable.

Cantare Hall (Middle Class)

Contains: Arena, locker rooms, stables, actors quarters, temples, lodging, food, shops, services, residences and theaters

The Cantare Hall, for which the district is named after, dominates the area and towers over anything nearby. This structure is an oval arena capable of seating over 10,000 spectators and hosts all manner of sports and competitions. The services of this district cater to the needs of competitors and audiences alike. T-shirts and double beer mugs may be found here for a pretty penny. When needed, the Hall separates into two hemispheres which can both act as theaters for stage plays, films, variety shows and the like. Both the rich and the poor attend the shows and the place is heavily guarded during performances. However, crime still is a main complaint in the area.

Argentum (Middle Class)

Contains: Mall, temples, lodging, food, trades, services, guildhalls and residences

The downtown area of Ludus, Argentum is the busiest district. Tall towers housing many business offices, hotels, and shops caress the skies. People, formally dressed or uniform-clad, parade the streets like ants. People enter and exit buildings like clockwork and so does money. Traffic is quite high in this district, even during the night. For some, business is 24/7 and the bars and nightclubs pump the bass and clash mugs of alcohol and spirits throughout the wee hours of the morning. Where tall buildings can't stand, smaller shops are wedged in. Scents of food and perfume permeate the area and colors are vivid. Voices of vendors and street performers are drowned by the sounds of various vehicles and steeds. Argentum is also home to the gargantuan Copone Mall where various shops of all kinds are bunched up together. It is open from 11am to 7pm, save for the restaurants which close at 9pm. The district is also home to the city bank where any currency can be converted into Ludus Gold.

Pietas (Middle Class)

Contains: Temples, lodging, food, shops, services and residences

At first glance, Pietas seems to be an exotic upper-class neighborhood. Temples of many of the multiverse's gods are made from various materials, usually adorned with towering pillars and awe- and faith-inspiring statues. The surrounding residences and shops are nothing like these, however, for they are fairly plain. The rich and famous usually have their own priests at hand and many districts have their own temples but Pietas is where most citizens come to pray. It is a Mecca for all of Ludus. The diversity of Ludus' citizens which gather here shows that residents come from all walks of life. They are usually dressed in what each dimension considers their Sunday best. Incense and the sounds of gongs, chimes and chanting strike and punctuate the air. Processions for funerals and weddings are also quite common.

St. Nex (Lower Class)

Contains: Mortuaries, crypts, mausoleums, services, residences, temples.

Named after the saint believed to bring creatures of all faiths to the afterlife, St. Nex is a vast field of graves and crypts. Due to the populous amount of people in Ludus, under the fields of graves and grass lie stories upon stories of underground catacombs with a complex system of elevators that bring down both workers and mourners. The poor are usually dug up top while the rich take the lower levels. Often, private family plots are adorned with fine minerals. These plots usually have their own elevators and are isolated from others. This district is almost devoid of sound and the faint smell of decay in the air mixes with that of wet grass.

Upper Scele (Lower Class)

Contains: Temples, lodging, food, shops and services

This is the place to go when looking for semi-legal and illegal services and goods. Prostitution, illegal substances, gambling, pirates, and mercenaries abound here. Crime is high and people try hard to stay infamous or hidden depending on what services they offer. Many thieves’ guilds take refuge here and the police are easily bribed. These 'men of the law' usually harass passersby, making them fear them as much as the local criminals.

Lower Scele (Lower Class)

Contains: Temples, lodging, food trades, services and residences

Lower Scele is where the poor can live the best they can. Buildings range from run-down but clean apartments to rotting row houses infested with pests which threaten to tear them down. The rich rarely visit here and when they do, they are usually looking for cheap labor. Streets are filled with workers and beggars, all trying to survive till the end of the day with what scraps they can get.

Arx (Lower Class)

Contains: Prison, guard's barracks, services, residences, garrison building, temples, lodging, food and shops

Around the city, floats a separate, smaller island, known as Arx. This satellite island serves as both the military district as well as the prison. Imposing stone-walled strongholds with exceedingly narrow windows enchanted with repelling force-fields dominate the prison section. Soldiers and armed vehicles pass by at all hours and shouts and threats from the magically-incapacitated inmates continue throughout the day and the night. Away from the city, this area is filthy and poorly-maintained with smoke pluming out during the winter.

Around the prison at 360 degrees is the garrison. The shouts of the inmates are muted by the thick walls while outside, barked orders, marching boots and clanging metal dominate. This is the home and practice ground of the military. The buildings here mimic those of Domus Homes. However, the garrison itself is an impenetrable block built from the same stone and spells as the city walls. It has narrow windows and flat roofs specifically designed for snipers. Patrols move throughout the whole district on an irregular basis. Arx is known to sometimes hover over the city, teleporting hundreds of soldiers on the ground in times of need.

Underludus (Lower Class)

Contains: Temples, lodging, food, shops, services, residences.

Here dwell the baddest of the bad. Completely underground, Underludus is the second biggest district of Ludus and governs itself unofficially. This is the home of outrageous criminal activity and the black market. Criminals and sentient monstrous races interact, do business and murder each other here. Abandoned sewers and a forgotten catacombs system make up the district instead of streets and buildings. It is musty with stale air and the thick aura of insanity and bloodlust send shivers down the spines of visitors and newcomers.

The Wilderness (Lower Class)

Contains: Desert and residences.

Encompassing the Ludus underground where Underludus and St. Nex don't meet is the largest and most derelict district in all of Ludus (if it can even be called a district). The Wilderness is what it says it is. It is a vast underground desert of sand within an enormous cavern. Here live those who cannot even afford to live at Lower Scele, pitching tents which often get blown away by winds caused by the city's ventilation system. There are no shops here as they would not make a cent in a year. Neither are there streets, only paths that the denizens of this forgotten world have grown to memorize. The district is choked by the stink of the city's waste disposal, unwashed bodies and even rotting flesh.

OTHER PLACES OF NOTE

Ludus Forest
Outside the city wall at the opposite side of the main gate is the Ludus Forest. This forest spans for miles until the edge of the island of Ludus and hosts a cornucopia of flora and fauna native to the dimension. It is also the home of the Saruata, the first denizens of Ludus and rumored to be the first mages of the multiverse.

Peregrotica
This rickety old wagon, adorned with dim lights and colorful sheets of cloth, travels around the city at night and is never seen at day. This wooden vehicle is known to sell rare and exotic items from dimensions that are extremely hard to reach. The unnamed masked couple that takes care of the wagon never speak, rumors going about that they are blind and mute. Communication is easy though for both are telepaths.

Memorial Hill
Once on this green rolling hill, a great battle between rivaling mages took place. This battle, known as the Clash of the Titans, went on for months without rest. Now, Memorial Hill serves as a tourist attraction and a reminder of the power and destruction that practitioners of magic may bring about.

Fuga Docks
Located in the southern edge of the city, this dock of wooden planks and poles is not an actual seaport. Rather it is a transdimensional gateway designed to look like one. Various boats and sea mounts are kept in piers and ranches and an airfield lies just to the east of the Dock. At the ends of the holographic sea and the runway are portals that lead to the skies and seas of the destined dimension. However, because of the erratic nature of dimensions, the exit portal's location is not always accurate and oftentimes will open in the mere vicinity of the desired planet. Travel to another dimension without some sort of vehicle, contraption or spell to protect one’s body from the rigors of dimension travel is extremely ill-advised.

Important Groups

Vulpine Aces Gentleman's Club
Known as the bastards of high-society, The Vulpine Aces get to merrymaking at their clubhouse located in Upper Scele. These rascals of the rich and famous take part in alcohol and drug abuse, prostitution, gambling and sometimes public rowdiness and vandalism. However, their almost endless supply of money and their deep sense of brotherhood have saved them from landing in Arx.

Silent Knights

The Silent Knights is the largest and most feared thieves' guild in all of Ludus. Part of their ominous aura is the fact that nobody knows anything about them except that they exist and that all their crimes are marked with cards with bastard swords drawn on them. These cards are magically enhanced to have no detectable or deducible history.

Ludus Military and City Watch
In Ludus, the military and city watch are one and the same. The titles are just there for rank, job jurisdiction and training. This group, which is the face of justice in Ludus, is not at all perfect; the heavy hand of impunity and corruption strangling the weak in the shadows. Those that have high moral standard are dismissed to more secure places such as Arx and the bank, while the questionable are brought to the more hopeless areas, such as Scele and Pietas. Real security follows where high-society goes.

The Alvarium

The Alvarium

The Alvarium is a communication network that runs throughout Ludus and functions as the city's main communication hub. Replacing both internet, radio and telephones, the Alvarium also has a few distinct features that make it stand-out from other devices.

The most important side feature of the Alvarium is the Translation Matrix which makes the Alvarium an absolute essential for your character to have. Any device that can tap into the Alvarium network automatically translates between the characters so both ends can understand each other. Characters can also easily switch the Translation Matrix off. The Translation Matrix also works when speaking to each other face to face. It can translate every language from every dimension. The Translation Matrix requires a certain level of mental capability, so beings/pets/mounts that normally cannot speak will not find themselves suddenly talking.

When the character enters ludus, they receive the default model Alvarium. It is capable of taking pictures, calling, texting, video chatting, sending files and messaging. It holds an infinite amount of storage space. All Alvarium devices are interconnected with each other, so people can post to the Main Network or to a set number of individuals. Items can be filtered to be received to a group of people, locked to an individual or used as a sort of journal. The batteries life is extremely lengthy often lasting years with the default model. The bottom part of the Alvarium is a touchscreen, and it changes depending on what kind of feature they need to access. The default models are relatively durable. The default model has a camera behind it; but not in-front.

The character doesn't necessarily have to use the default model. if there are any particular gadgets your character is attached too. As long as it's capable of receiving any sort of signal (even Infrared, or Radio). It's capable of running on the Alvarium Network.

When accessed, the Main Network looks like a sort of Facebook feed, when the character accesses it. The Alvarium also works in tandem with the bank; so a character can check finances and transfer payments through them. The Alvarium also informs you of the weather in Ludus for the week and, although does not have GPS, contains a map of Ludus in its data bank.

The Alvarium has difficulties connecting to any character outside of the Alvarium Network (meaning the internet), making it extremely frustrating for a character (although not impossible) to contact his dimension.

If the character loses or breaks his Alvarium, a new one can be purchased for a 100LG.

Subjects and Enlistment

School of Defense

BANISHMENT - The art of repelling and expelling. The study of banishment ranges from stealth (summoned by denying other people's perception of you) to banishing something out of existence. It also deals with the arts of entrapment, imprisonment and expelling objects from a chosen area.

COUNTERSPELL - The art of magical defense. The annulment or reversal of another being's magic, this subject's scope ranges from the creation of protective barriers, the casting of counter-spells to rendering oneself completely immune from the effects of Dimensional Collapse. This subject is ideal for those wanting to take the pacifist route to protecting themselves and others.

School of Summoning

CREATION - The art of dimension bending and creation. The subject of creation is the study of dimensions. Students of this class learn the composition of everything in the universe. This is in order to recreate anything and bend everything according to their will. The subject is devoted to studying how to build anything from structures to familiars, to even life itself.

TRANSPORTATION - The art of displacement. The subject of transportation focuses on displacing one's self and others from place to place, from dimension to dimension, but also from time period to time period as well. Aside from its more obvious usages, a crafty student of this field is very well capable of using the skills learned in this subject as an aid in combat.

School of Knowledge

FORESIGHT - The art of divination. This subject's range extends from reading tea-leaves to practical divination in combat. It also covers Inter-Dimensional Meteorology and Astrosciences and how to interpret phenomena to preform as a soothsayer. It also teaches the intricacies of prophecy creation.

SCRYING - The art of clairvoyance and dimension mapping. Students of this class study the geography and geology of a dimensional plane by making use of tracking and scrying spells. A master of this class will be able to undertake inter-dimensional infiltration and surveillance. Ideal for aspiring surveyors, tacticians and spies.

School of Glamour

CONTROL - The art of leadership. This subject focuses on the governance and administration of one's own dimension. Lessons learned in this subject can be applied to both politics and warfare or the evasion of both. Students will first learn how to lead a simple group of people then will progress onward till they learn how to deal with different aspects of governance and inter-dimensional relations.

MANIPULATION - The art of aura manipulation or empathy. This subject teaches students how to sense motives and manipulate their target's emotions, subtly modifying their behavior and affecting their actions. Adepts can instill in their targets emotions ranging from fear, infatuation, panic and rage. It also teaches students how to defend from being manipulated and how to reflect back attempts made by others to manipulate them.

ADMIXTURE - The art of element manipulation. Students of this class study the different elements around them and how to manipulate and combine them. At its peak, the subject teaches you how to apply the three rules of magic that govern every dimension and how to bypass them.

GENERATION - The art of spell creation. This subject not only studies spells but also delves into how they are made and created. It's goal is to inform students of the level of magic present in their dimension and, based off that, create spells which befit and work in the surroundings. It also teaches students how to control magic that has gone awry and even how to create their own branch of magic.

School of Sensory Manipulation

PHANTASM - The art of illusions. Those who chose to practice this art learn to manipulate, alter and change the percieved reality of others. Using the mind as their primary source of power, Phantasm magic users are masters of sensory deception. At its highest level, an illusion created can transcend the boundaries of time and space and the caster can make it last for centuries for their target when in reality it has only been a few days or hours.

SHADOW - The art of shadow and light magic. Those who seek command of both the light and shadow find themselves drawn to the Shadowmancy/Heliomancy class. Aside from the study of how to bend both to befuddle the senses and to enhance them beyond mere visual phenomenon, this subject ultimately opens up the hidden world of the Shades to the adept shadowmancers, giving them the ability to travel through shadows as well.

School of Vitae

LIFE - The art of healing. Practitioners of this art are those who devote their skills to support magic to strengthen their peers and make sure they are at full health at all times. They are an invaluable asset for any party and, at their highest level, be the ones who can bring you back from the brink of death.

Note: Students often take Life in tandem with Enhancement.

Able to amass a legion of undead forces at their bidding, they can also revive extremely powerful beings (provided they are able to control them or prevent them from controlling them in return).

ENHANCEMENT - The art of ability and status enhancements. If a healer restores life those who specialize in enhancement reinforce their teammates and themselves. Adepts can grant additional strengths to their party making them far stronger than their opponents. Masters of the art can even grant temporary invincibility.

Note: Students often take Enhancement in tandem with Life.

SHAPECHANGE - The art of shapeshifting. Morphing one’s own body into anything one desires is more difficult than it sounds like. Shapeshifting entails knowing the constitution of everything one wishes to turn into, especially the human body, from every tiny hair to every working muscle to its very bone structure. But in turn, a shapeshifter can turn into virtually anything he or she desires or imagines: from fire breathing dragons to microscopic ants.

Applying for Ludus

❧ To apply for a character, please submit a filled out application form to either the Students' gallery or the Miscellaneous Citizens' gallery. The mods will note you back if your application has been accepted, rejected or needs revisions.

❧ Please make sure that the written part of your application contains at least 500 words from Name to RP sample.

❧ All writers (those who cannot draw) wishing to join Ludus are encouraged to read the Art Request page. Therein lies instructions on how to apply to the RP group as a writer and how to get in contact with artists who could draw their character art for them.

Character Creation

❧ The sky is the limit but don't grab for the heavens. Anything you think of that can fit into the verse, put it right in. We only ask that the characters are not too powerful to the point of it being annoying. Everyone and everything has flaws, remember that. Balance is your friend. Use your own discretion in creating them and make the most out of the universe presented.

❧ Transferring/moving a character from another game/rp/oct/group is A-OKAY. We simply request that you do not have that character running in multiple games at the same time. Also, please submit to us OUR APPLICATION and not THEIR APPLICATION. You can also choose to retain the memories of your character from that group.

❧ The characters can come from any dimension possible which means that they can be taken from any time and any setting. They could be half jelly-fish or some weird made up species. Or say, from the 1920s. Or heck, apply as a caveman. Have fun and get creative!

❧ Your character's ages are entirely up to you. Ludus believes that anyone can learn at any time.

❧ Your character doesn't necessarily have to be human. We accept even animals, provided they're capable of at least thinking/feeling.

Limitations

❧ The following powers have special restrictions due to godmode and metagame. If one or more of these are your powers of choice, please consult a mod before doing so. They will suggest character creation flaws or limitations through subtle GM control.

❧ Older students (those who have been in Ludus longer and not physical age) cannot be made without first having a character that's a first year. Even then, the Roleplayer/Mun will have to wait around a month before being able to apply for an "old" character. This is done because the older students should know the ins and outs of Ludus, they know how people are and how the system works. We want the Roleplayer/Mun to be familiar with everything first so that his/her character is believable.

❧ No characters from a fandom-specific universe (IE, don't submit Konoha Ninjas, Gallifreyan time-lords, No Pokemon Trainers, Republic Jedi's and I'm pretty sure you can't be the second to the last Airbender).

Why was my app rejected?

❧ Your app obviously took two-seconds to work on it.

❧ You've forgotten to fill something. To be continued-'s aren't allowed, sure you can ADD and MODIFY to the application later on; but don't submit to us a half-filled app.

How does my character arrive in Ludus?

You have a lot of freedom in this! It's entirely up to you! If you don't want to think of how your character got here, feel free to choose one of the scenarios below.

Conduct Within Ludus

On the first day after the inauguration of Ludus City, it's founding school, and the dimension wherein it encompasses, the Lords and Ladies congregated to form a list of simple laws that all within their realm must follow. These are as follows:

❥ 1st Article: We are the moderators: Creators of Ludus and Protectors of the Group. We deserve the right to enforce rules as we go whether or not they may be found in the rules page.

❥ 2nd Article: We are not responsible over the chaotic actions of your fellow group members and nothing is guaranteed. However, our law and discipline shall be brought down on those that deserve it.

❥ 3rd Article: All within the realm must use common sense when dealing with personal relations. Mindless rats shall be dealt with accordingly.

❥ 4th Article: Help must be asked and will be given when needed. However, all must be as independent as they can, for dependence is bothersome and, at full extent, is an act against law.

❥ 5th Article: Once one has lost the feeling of fun and happiness from this group, they may leave if they wish to do so. Our realm is far from perfect.

❥ 6th Article: Comments and suggestions once thought of must be given. Our community does not center on the Lords and Ladies but on all of us. However, please be patient with replies. We are only human.

❥ 7th Article: One should make friends. Above all else, Ludus is a peaceful society.

❥ 8th Article: One must be careful of what they say unto others. What may be harmless and playful to one may be an insult to another. Those that deny respect to the personal views of others shall be dealt with accordingly.

❥ 9th Article: It is inevitable that at one point or another, one shall be insulted. However, forgiveness and understanding must be practiced.

These laws are now set in stone. They override any other law for the emotional benefit of others.

Standard Operating Procedure

❧ We strongly encourage that you draw your own characters. However, writers are free to request, commission or ask friends to draw their characters for them. It's not about the medium you use but the stories you tell. Be creative! That's what we're looking for. Some of the other artists already on-board are even willing to draw for you.

❧ When taking 'Doors'/'Missions', people are free to be submit in any format including sequential art (comics), literary (prose), illustration and animation. Any format under the sun is welcome.

❧ As we want to promote originality and creativity, we are not allowing Played-By's, Face-Claims, the Sims, IMVU, Image Manipulation or base art. However, 3D is allowed provided it's yours.

Activity

❧ We aren't strict about activity. Real life will always come first. But if you're going to make a character and then never interact with anyone, then why bother? If you're going to be leaving for a long while, please have the courtesy to say so. Even better if you excuse your character as well so that you don't put your story-lines on hold. [But be active and the higher your chances are of making friends! -shot-]

Scribbld, DA and Skype?

❧ First things first, what is Scribbld and why are we using it?

Scribbld is a lesser known LiveJournal clone with features that rival its other brethren InsaneJournal and the now-dead Inksome. The LiveJournal format is an alternate experience to the conventional forum play-per-post as it allows interruptions of conversations by another character (threadhopping/threadjacking) as well as multiple conversations going on in one post. Something a separate forum wouldn't do well at. Another factor is the existence of icons (Scribbld provides 50). Thus, you can show a character's expression without having to describe it every single post.

Also, because the person has full control of his/her character's account, private threads are more encouraged, the RP experience becomes more personal and the user has now a space on the web to do as he pleases with his/her character.

❧ So what is the DeviantArt account for?

Submitting art, doing quests and missions provided - among other things.

❧ Why don't we just RP on DA?

DeviantArt isn't the best place to roleplay. Updates stack and more often then not you end up cluttering your gallery with memes which leaves you with a weird mish-mash of updates in your personal inbox. To avoid that, most people make plz-accounts for their characters and RP there. While that solves a lot of issues of the clutter, there's still the fact that there are simple things you want to do that DA doesn't let you unless you have a premium account (journal skins and posting images pretty much come to mind instantly). Also, according to one of the mods, there's an unflattering thread-squishing that happens so that makes RP-logging a terrible gimmick.

❧ Why don't we get a forum?

Threadjacking and the lack thereof. Also forum RPs usually end up with a post-order. So if someone has to log off, the RP-halts. Scribbld's format lets you kind of avoid that by allowing people to add new conversations any time to your posts.

❧ Skype?

We like skype, we spam skype. Skype also logs threads quite well and the chat rooms are stable. Skype is there for the people who prefer RP over messengers as opposed to having threads. Our only request is you send us a log. Logs make us happy~ [SKYPE=FRIENDSHIP<3]

Posting

❧ Whatever style floats your boat. Feel free to experiment with anything from literature to script. To a weird mishmash of both. Anything goes as long as people can understand you.

Also, while we may not be nit-picky about word-count, we strongly encourage: quality over quantity .

❧ Out of Character (OOC) chat: please keep OOC chat within parentheses (( )) or brackets [[ ]] when talking OOCly in an RP. Otherwise, you are welcome to create and participate in a separate chatroom for OOC talk. The latter is more encouraged since it leads to much cleaner and organized RP logs.

❧ Please keep logs of 1x1 Chats and Private Threads. Also, if RP-ing on Scribbld, please remember to TAG YOUR POSTS and before posting state if the RP is PRIVATE or OPEN.

❧ Please use THIRD-PERSON.

Godmodding, Power Playing

❧ Please don't. This is basically forcing another character into a situation that isn't consented by the other player. Role playing is a collaborative endeavor so COLLABORATE. If in the event a character starts doing this, don't be afraid to talk it out with the RPer or, if things get out of hand, approach a mod.

Metagaming

❧ What you know =/= What your character knows. Please try to keep each separate when RPing.

Character Count

❧ Three maximum with more granted depending on activity. Staff are not counted in the character count, however do consult us before making staff members. [Or your characters will start disappearing like male characters in Jennifer's Body. MWAHAHAHAHAHA]

It's a Game!

❧ We are here to have fun. Keep IC stuff between characters and OOC stuff between players. If players have issues with one other, settle it like grown ups - talk to each other and deal with it. If it still fails, contact any member of the Moderating Team.

Premise

Dimensions go by a lot of names: Worlds. Realms. Earths. Realities.

Your reality is not the only one in the universe. Just beyond the thin veil of your perception. Just beyond the edge of your reasoning. Your consciousness. Lies the paper thin barrier between your reality and the utter chaos that is the magic of possibility. The raw magic of potential.

It is this magic that gave birth to your dimension and others. The same magic that gives you access to these other worlds. It is the magic that slowly seeps into your world, keeps everything in balance then causes everything to break.
