Jacobs

Character Journal Username: dodola

Age and physical description: Twenty-Five. Short, she stands only 5'5 and it seems despite how petite she is she carries herself in such a way that it is difficult to overlook her. Or maybe this is simply because she wears weird clothing, stuff hand-stitched either by herself or her mother. Thrift store things, bright colors, and then there is that hair which stands out the very most. She is proud of the natural blonde mane, the same bright blonde of her mother. Her eyes are a grayish green and often compared to a storm with how dark they get when she gets emotional.

Former Deity Name and Pantheon: Dodola- Slavic Goddess of the Rain and Spring.

Personality: She's quirky and it's apparent she had a very different upbringing especially considering her name as well her sibling's names. Her parents instilled in her values of a life of freedom of choice. She is a lover, not a fighter, and sometimes this makes her seem a bit too innocent but that is hardly the case. She has experience in things she finds to be very important, things she doesn't think anyone values much these days. She was brought up to be independent but to love fiercely and without prejudice. She is not perfect though and tends to be the kind of person who loves the wrong types and can't seem to figure out why she ought to finally give up on a person. Being an emotional being sometimes she is seen as nothing more than a basket case by those who aren't willing to get to know her. Granted, at times, she really is just a basket case and that is simply that. Mostly people dub her as a hippie which might as well be true as her parents certainly are.

History: Saturday was born third in a small Georgia farm just outside of Savannah, Georgia. Before her came Sunday, then Thursday, each of them named for the day they were born. Her parents were third generation farmers of small crops they used to feed themselves and sell at farmer's markets in and around Savannah. She was brought up by parents who believed intensely in freedom of speech, in organic living, in seeking spiritual guidance in all things as they felt any living thing had a soul of its own. Her upbringing was a good one where she never wanted for anything because she was not raised to want for more than what they could make on their own or purchase reasonably with the small amount of money they made. She was taught to work hard for anything she wanted, taught to love freely, to dream big... and her dreams took her to places neither Thursday nor Sunday decided to go. Both of her older siblings liked the small time living and decided to take over the family farm, though Sunday ended up marrying a neighbor boy with a farm of his own just down the road.

Saturday ached to leave, not because she despised her home but because she had a dream of going to a university to pursue a degree in the arts. She ended up gaining a scholarship to the Duke Ellington School of the Arts where she currently attends hoping to graduate with a degree that will allow her to get a job as an art teacher in a secondary school.

Strengths: She is naturally gifted when it comes to gardening and seems to have an amazing green thumb. She doesn't realize quite so much that this may be her inner goddess allowing her the gift of spring's touch. She is fairly good at sewing, cooking, and fixing most mechanical things even things related to engine work though she is hardly an expert and that is from being taught by her father to fix farm tools. She is an excellent artist but prefers mediums such as oil pastels or paints, things that get messy. A fish in the water she is a quick swimmer.

Weaknesses: Highly emotional, especially around that time of the month. While she loves easily her heart is broken just as easily. She tries not to be so weird but it's not something she thinks about often so most of the time she just says odd things, is honest to the point where she doesn't understand she might be hurting someone's feelings, even. She doesn't really think before she talks. Has a guilt issue with how much she really likes meat as she grew up vegan. Though she doesn't have complete control over it, it seems that when she is emotional she causes rainfall which varies depending on what emotion it is she is dealing with.

General Deity History: Dodola, the goddess of Rain and Spring, is known also as the wife of Perun, the Slavic King God and God of the Thunder. She was known for being a happy goddess, one who caused rain by happily milking her heavenly cows and one who flew over the forests to spread spring's greenery. As a Queen of the Slavic Gods she was just, lovely, and kind.
However, there was several periods of her life spent with another: Veles, the Slavic Underworld God. While Veles was clearly the enemy of her husband and stole Dodola to infuriate Perun, Dodola became used to being kidnapped and whenever Veles was defeated her release caused a great storm and rainfall. She never held it against Veles for it was in his nature to be as such and in fact she secretly came to enjoy such stolen moments as Veles was not evil, persay. He was just naturally the opposite of Perun. Often it was Dodola who would stop the fights and Veles began simply letting this come to pass, though it seemed tiresome for Perun to deal with the kidnappings.

Played By: Kristen Bell

Other Pertinent Info As Needed: Nope!

Role-playing Sample:
The wind picked up when she stepped outside, gusted powerful against her small body and it had her sitting on the stoop of a museum to keep from being pushed over. She placed a hand over her ear and shouted in the phone as loudly as Saturday's parents.
"MOTHER?"
"HONEY?"
"Mother! It's WINDY!"
"YES. I CAN TELL. JUST WANTED TO SAY..."
She had to hold the phone away for a moment as her vessel mother proclaimed she loved her, hoped she was having fun, and wanted to see her soon. Guilt settled in the pit of her stomach at such words. She loves them, she really does, but what she had discovered since leaving the farm had been life changing. She can't help but feel like she is lying when she speaks to them, even if directly she isn't.
The call ended and she stood just as the door opened to let someone out. She turned to face them, one foot on a step below where she sat so she is stretching her calf a bit.

[Also, I played her in my own SL elsewhere so I thought I'd add this, which was a scene between her and Odin.]

She can't figure it out when he begins his explanation and wonders if she should be more worried but waking up still has her reacting slower than normal. She wipes at her eyes then drops her hands onto her thighs in a defeated sort of way. Sleep won't come back to her easily but..

Dodola's thoughts are sharply interuppted with the news. Frigg is married. Her heart leaps, threatens to burst through her ribs it beats so hard. Guilt taints the thrill of such news. She shouldn't be so happy for the news. Not only has he just confirmed he lost his wife to another man, a mortal more than likely, but she too has a husband and shouldn't she be more loyal than this?

He is not loyal to me. We are no longer.. his vow to me has been broken. I wash my hands of him.

"Oh..." then he questions her dreams and she looks toward a window being painted by the rain that steadily pours from the heavens. "Maybe, don't remember them well."

She just remembers laughter and pain from the dying earth. Dodola lowers her eyes to where he crawls in beside her and finds herself responding at once. Her long limbs shift and she twists to fit into the mold that his body makes. They curve together, fit together, like two puzzle pieces. Dodola settles her cheek against his chest, briefly, and after a quiet moment of consideration of his words she pushes herself up further to press a slow kiss into his mouth.

She doesn't know what to say to him, or what he wants her to say anyway, so this is all she can do to convey what she feels: concern and love.

How'd You Find Us?: On IJ's wanna_rp comm.
