BASICS.
NAME: Eloise Anais Midgen
BIRTHDAY: February 16, making her an Aquarius.
HOUSE: Hufflepuff.
YEAR: Seventh.

BLOODLINE: Pureblood.
SEXUALITY: ¾ straight, ¼ indifferent.

APPEARANCE.
HEIGHT: 5’7”
WEIGHT: 132lbs.
GENERAL: Eloise is growing to be a tall young witch, with the illusion of additional height accredited to her straight-backed posture. She is always at attention, with her shoulders squared and chin lifted, and yet there is fluidity to her movements that hints she is not quite as stiff as her stance might imply. It is the indication of an athlete, and her body follows suit in being trim but toned, with enough curves to show she is not a waifish beanstalk. Her hair, well-tended without appearing overly primped, is worn relatively short to the middle of her neck, either sleekly straight or in bobbing curls – all depending on how early she drags herself out of bed. Her eyes are a pale blue-grey that carry tasteful lining and darkened lashes, with a full mouth that is left bare. Outdoor exposure struggles with genetically pale skin, often leaving her with a complexion that is somewhere between a tan peach and sunburned. Her hands, while slim and deft as a lady’s ought to be, are nonetheless calloused and rough.

FASHION STYLE: During classtime, Eloise dresses in the expected uniform with a striped tie that declares her Hufflepuff, and a pin that represents her position as a Quidditch Captain. Otherwise, Eloise’s style is best described as eclectic. Some days she favors short, flowy skirts with a tanktop and bulky belt, while at other times she’s just as comfortable in jeans and an oversized button-up flannel shirt. It’s all about what suits her at that particular time. Usually it involves taking something chic and giving it a quirky edge.

HOME: Her father’s estate, the one she grew up in, is located in Wiltshire. The house that her mother inherited and where she now lives is located in wizarding London. @

FAMILY: Eloise was born to Adelphus and Flavie Midgen, the former an attorney with the Ministry, and the latter a journalist at the Prophet. While the two met and married as a happy pureblood couple in their youth, times have changed and the couple has recently separated. This is due to the fact that Adelphus defended many of the pureblooded families affiliated with Dark Wizards after the war, and as a result helped many of them avoid repercussion for their war crime. Her mother saw this as a travesty and injustice. While she was proud of her pureblood heritage, and thought it a custom that should not be broken, she did not agree with the treatment that would be in store for those of lesser pedigree. Eloise agrees with and supports her mother in that at least. Nonetheless, her father does love her, and she loves him, so it can be a bit of a sticky situation.

BACKGROUND: Eloise grew up as any pureblood might – in a large house, going to large parties, and even having a large number of pureblood friends. Come the start of schoo, however, the majority of them were sorted into Slyhterin while she was sorted into Hufflepuff – a fact that, at the time, nearly made her die of embarrassment. Without her usual cronies, she had no one to talk to during meals or after hours, which inevitably forced her to socialize outside her old circle.

The acne surfaced come her second year.

While her real friends remained true, those that had been only at face value (literally) drifted away and she became the subject of taunts and teases. As any girl her age might, Eloise came to hate school and hate life – melodramatic, but typical for adolescents – until she managed to square her shoulders and keep her head up. They could tease all they wanted, but that wouldn’t keep her from wiping the floor with them via grades and athletics. Come her fifth year, Eloise was made Captain of the Hufflepuff Quidditch team under the mantle of chaser. While she had expected to be, and wanted to be, a Prefect, she was disappointingly never given that title of authority. This might have been due to her disregard for lighthearted pranks general willingness to fight back if something was initiated. No, she settled with the perks of being Captain, namely all those belonging to prefects except the ability to dock points, and did so with acceptance.

In any case, horrible acne and all, she carved a place for herself in school society without being the stereotypical ‘pretty girl’, and was, if not content, at least alright with the situation. She had her friends, she had her books, and she had her broom.

Imagine her surprise, then, when she was prescribed a new potion that treated her acne, and voile – in a matter of a week it cleared up. The purchase was made during the last Hogsemeade Weekend, and Eloise has already ordered up a slew of the stuff in bulk. While having never been one for beauty regiments, the desire to remain zit-free has encouraged a few nightly rituals, even though stress and hormones can warrant one or two of the nasty buggers every now and then. The point is,while she was not and is not vain, she at least takes more pride in her appearance, which has only inflated her confidence.

PERSONALITY.
OVERVIEW: Above everything, Eloise is what you would call a straight-shooter. She’s honest, and at times blunt, though it rarely stems from anything but the desire to be helpful. She doesn’t coddle people when they whine about stupid things, nor play the part of passive ear to those who complain about things that can easily be fixed -- while she would always be there for her friends, she would also be there to give them her two-cents. That said, she is fiercely loyal to those she is close to, and will willingly jump in on any argument -- whether asked to or not -- in order to stand up for someone she feels is being picked on. During such disputes with bullies, either acting as the defender of, or the actual picked-on, her usual approach is lighthearted sarcasm that is meant more to rile than express genuine seriousness. When this fails, and her temper is truly sparked, she can throw insults with the best of them, and only in the most extreme situations would she use her fists or wand – usually only if the other person were to instigate first; in which case she has no trouble fighting back.

In this she is a fighter at heart -- but a fighter for others and what she deems as the greater good. These endeavors, while attempts at being valiant, can lead to her sticking her nose in other peoples' business, and she can be quite stubborn when it comes to not 'handling' something; it frustrates her to no end when she can't do anything to help and is left useless on the sidelines.

Despite all these qualities, her humor is perhaps her best quality. She can turn a joke out of almost anything, and is quick to laugh and smile. Academically she is one of the top students in Defense Against the Dark Arts, Charms, and other active classes, where in subjects such as History and Herbology she utterly flops. . Despite her usual easygoing personality, in the classes where she excels, she can be quite competitive – especially in Defense. She has been trying to keep her grades up, however, knowing if she ever wants to be an Auror she’ll have to do quite well -- even though she’s still torn between that, pursuing a Quidditch career, or working with the Ministry as an International Agent. In other words -- she has the same confusion regarding the future as just about any other teenager.

FAVOURITE MUSIC: There’s no such thing – it depends on her mood. An acoustic guitar with good lyrics is favorable when she is feeling mellow, while something with a good beat is better when she’s feeling active.
