First Entry

I suppose I should open this entry with a little bit about myself.
I attend college at the University of Maryland and I work at the movie theatre on campus. I'm an English major, and I am learning to knit (slowly, but surely.)
I miss my dogs, Tess and Noel, terribly, and if I could find away to hide two large dogs in my teeny on-campus apartment, I would.
I love being at school, but I can't help missing the quiet simplicity of my hometown, and how peaceful my house is at night.
I love to travel; my first trip abroad was to London in 6th grade with my parents, and I've been hooked ever since. The summer after my freshman year of high school, I went on a class trip to Paris, and I have continued my travels to Rome, Florence, Nice, Provence, Barcelona, and the Costa Brava, as well as a driving tour of Ireland with my parents. The trip to Ireland was the best vacation of my life, and I cannot wait to go back.
I am a literature enthusiast, with aspirations to become a novelist, hence my English major. I am currently taking a very intriguing class on Tolkien, as well as a class on Shakespeare, both of which I adore. My other two classes, Astronomy and Philosophy, are to fill University wide requirements, but aren't too terrible.
That about brings us up to today, I suppose.
This morning, my alarm didn't go off, so I missed Astronomy.
My boss didn't create a schedule for work this week, and she is out sick, so it is quite possible that the movie theatre will be in shambles for the next several days.
Boy troubles continue to plague me.
I wish that I could say that I'm blissfully happy, and that everything seems to be working out well. Unfortunately, that is not the case.
But I know that things will improve once I get some things sorted out. Time heals all wounds, as they say.
I'll do my best to keep this journal from being whiny and depressing; after all my life isn't particularly horrible. It's actually quite nice most of the time.
But there will be days, as I'm sure you all know from experience.
Thanks for reading,
L
