Javarr Li Britannia

The Exiled Prince

2/7/09 06:16 pm - Beginning of the Rise

I awoke the next morning farly rested. Something seemed odd with the room as if someone had been there in the night. The light smell of a woman's perfume, very faint. I dissmissed the thought as it must of been one of the people that ran the shelter checking in on it's residents. I rose from bed and had to shield my eyes from the sunlight that was streaming in from the rooms only window. After donning my shirt, a simple, short sleeve grey shirtt with a few stains from what looked like paint and a pair of dark blue cargo pants that also were stained with paint, and pulling on the pair of boots I had been wearing forever in a day, I looked over to the cornor of the the room where I had set my few belongings. Moving across the room, I opened the simple travelers pack and looked through it. Within was the set of clothing I had worn the night before. A faded black tunic of fine, light wool and matching undershirt, a pair of faded grey trousers, and my cloak. It was not as faded as the rest of my clothing, mainly because I did not wear it much anymore. It was woven of a light silk, close to transparent in it's weave and wound of been if not for it's color of black. It was held on with a stent of silver chain, which was being used to keep it folded.

Undoing the chain and the folds, within the fabric was a single photograph. I was not sure of who was in it, but I felt that the person pictured there was important. He was built alittle more then I was, very curly hair that wore a simlilar outfit to what I had in my pack. Behind us was a pair of Sutherlands, Brittanina's mass production 5th generation Knightmare Frame. It seemed like a peaceful backdrop, as if it were taken in a guarden of lush greenery. I looked at the photo for a few moments later before I placed it back into the cloak and refolded it. Setting it aside, I looked deeper into the bag and found the other item that I felt was familiar.

This object was metal, inlayed with gold and silver in the shape of an angel with two pairs of wings, set with ivory. I looked at the object and suddenly images flashed through my mind. The image of the Emperor, Charles vi Britannina, a large room with red carpet, myself being held by two of the emperor's personal guard. . . and the weird glow in his eyes.

A pain shot through my head, causing me to drop the small metal to the ground and grasping my head. It was intense for a few moments then subsided. Catching my breath, thing to understand what I had just seen in my mind's eye, I recollected the items and placed then back into my pack. Once everything was repacked, I walked out of the room.

After having a farly good breakfast of biskets and gravy with potatos that were coated in a butter and onion powder sause, I was invited to tag along with a group of the people that lived here, a pair of Elevens and a Brittannian to where they worked. They figured I would use some extra money and it truth, I did need some.

It took close to an hour to get to the place we were going. It was what looked like a small shopping center. It was two levels but only the first level looked like it was for buisness. The other seemed to be either living quarters or storage. They explained that this place always needed help with some things around. Things from taking out trash, to cleaning, to actually helping with the shops. They recommended a small dealer that was in the cornor of this place to me. Showing my thanks, I walked down the line to the store that layed there. It appeared to be a merchant that did not deal in one type of thing, but many. Just in the front window, I saw electronics, appliances, even a few peices of clothing. As I glanced through the window, I noticed a sign that was posted there. It read "Royal Brokers" in a farly well done britannian script and below it was in the writing of Area 11 natives known as kanji. I took a deep breath and walked in.

Behind the counter that was set in the back of the store, a middle-aged woman sat on a stool behind a computer. The counter had a glass front and within it was various kinds of jewelry ranging from gold to silver to what I believed was platnum. Stones ranged from onix, topaz, pearls, even a few diamonds, emeralds, and saphires. Scattered about were various tools, musical insterments, leather and fine cloth clothing, music players, pretty much everything I had seen in the bazzars of the middle east when I had been there breifly. The woman looked up at me and smiled a bit.

"Welcome!" She then repeated the greeting in japaneese, atleast I think that is what she said. "What can I do for you today?"

I explained that I had been told that were might be work to be found here and she sighed.

"I would be glad to have some help, but last time I let someone else work here, they tried to steal some of my merchendise. So I really do not trust many people here. I'm sorry."

I noded my understanding and thanked her for her time. After the time I was about to turn and leave, someone came up to the counter and began speaking to the shopkeep. I moved to the side and observed. It appeared that the person was trying to sell the shop something. Upon a closer look, it was a ring set with a diamo--- wait. What looked like a diamond. It was a fake. A good fake, but still a fake. The woman began looking at the stone and noded that she would buy it. The other person began to grin, thinking their sceme was going well.

I on the other hand could not let this pass. I stepped back up to the counter and was looking at the ring and then spoke.

"Excuse me ma'am, but do you realize that the stone that is set in that ring is fake?" The shopkeep looked at me suprised and pulled her maginfiing glass out again and looked closer. The person that was trying to pawn it off seemed nervous as she frowned.

I glanced at the ring again and noticed that there was now gold flakes on her fingers. "It would seem the band is fake too." I could tell that the shop keep was growing more angry with the passing of moments. Finally she erupted and threw the fake ring at the person and told them to get out of her store. I sighed and began to head out after the other had left quicky.

"Wait." The shopkeep called from the counter. Turning around, she was looking at me.

"I cannot pay much, but I can offer you alittle money and use of the small appartment that is above the store. You just saved me nearly a thousand royals. I cannot let the person that did that go. Tell me though, how did you know?"

I actually had to think about that one. When I looked at the stone, I noticed how the light was reflecting oddly. Walking over to where the ring had landed, I showed her the odd reflections within the stone, plus how it's "fire" was not right for it's size.

"You must be a jeweler to have noticed that. I would be more then happy to let you help me out. For some reason I feel I can trust you. You can go upstairs and I would like you to start tomarrow." After tossing me a key, I told her I would have to return to the shelter to retreve my belongings. After going back and getting them, I bid the owners of the shelter farewell and thanked them for their help. After being given a parting gift of some more clothing and a small box of food items, I returned to the shop and went up the stairs that were beside the shop. Using the key to open the door, I walked into a room that was walked with wood panels, stained a dark brown. It was carpeted with a small kitchen area and another room that led off to the left of the door. Attached to that room was a small bathroom with a sink, tub, and shower. There were several windows in both rooms, all of them having a view of the gettos except one... it looked out towards the settlement, the area where most britannians lived in Area 11. It was still early in the day so I desided that I would go wandering. I had asked someone how long it would take to get to the actual settlelemt from the shelter and they had told me that it would take two hours. Well this place was much closer, so I desided.

I desided to pay a visit to the other side of Tokyo...

Perhaps I could find the "witch" there...
