Welcome to
elite, the first rule is don't be a douchebag. Get it? That means when you're in character, stay in character. By no means should you be going out of character while in. To clarify that, don't break or blur lines between you and your character. Things you know out of character (i.e. the fact that your girl's highschool sweetheart is about to leave her for another woman) your character doesn't necessarily know. This means that if you were told something out of character, keep it out, please, we'd rather everyone have fun than to have to go around removing people for nonsensical bullshit that everyone knows. You'll need to be experienced to join this community, so we're putting faith in you guys knowing what to do and what not to do in terms of OOC/IC.
In terms of the journals you use, yes, they need to be in name format and since this server is shiny and new with numerous first name usernames still available, we don't want to see names that you pulled out of your backside and dusted off to pass for real names, ok? Should you be unable to register whatever part of the name you'd intended to, try another part, don't butcher the spelling of their name to get a better journal, we don't really care if you use initials, their name backwards or names without vowels. Whatever you'd like to use in relation to your character's name is fine with us.
AIM is mandatory. Period. The end. You'll need one screenname for each character and yes, they also should include a part of your character's name. Because this community is off of GJ, the land of the dying communities, you'll need to be online whenever you're up to it. Should you be offline for five consecutive days, you'll find yourself removed. This isn't because we're nazis, it's because both mods are honestly sick to shit, to be gentle, of communities living a day and then dying off never to be heard from again. If you're dedicated to being here this rule isn't going to be a problem at all... and while we're on the topic, for the love of God, don't be AIM shy. I know, it's difficult and awkward at first, but it gets better. It
always gets better if you're getting past it and not psyching yourself out with thinking you're not going to be able to do it; just take a deep breath and get comfortable, we promise, AIM is well worth it when you're accustomed to using it... besides, it helps people remain active because it maintains storylines, which are clearly the most important aspect of roleplay.
Journal updates should be completed once about every 3 weeks and should also contain
substance. As long as you're showing signs of life while commenting other people and making posts in the sub-communities, as well as being active on AIM, we're not going to hassle you for keeping this exactly on target, however, if you hit 4 weeks, we'll send you a nudge. Now, should you be completely dead for 3 weeks straight, we're going to take the initiative and remove you. There are no PMs on this server, hence there are no warnings in this community, we won't waste our time making lists of people who need to be updated or face removal, because honestly, it's your job to keep track and know roundabout when your next update will be due.
When it comes to claims (I.E. vocal claims, literature claims, fashion claims), each character can have up to three and please, try to make them believable; there's no way in hell someone with the voice of William Beckett is going to suddenly sound like Justin Timberlake, all we ask is that you keep realism in mind with this. As far as actresses and actors go, your character should be believable for the list they are on; I.E. someone who is only in independent films will
not be an a-lister who's worshipped and swooned over, former child star roles will not be playing the same roles adults did in movies when they were 15 and the girl who stars in all those slasher flicks will not suddenly be starring in an Academy award winning movie. As an addition of the aforementioned, please, if someone is a cast member or band mate, please, for the love of Jesus Christ, do not ignore them IC. We're not saying everyone needs to be best friends or that they even need to get along completely, but it would be nice to have at least one community where characters didn't ignore people they've worked with/are working with for long periods of time.
To be considered for this community, you're going to need credits (or a discography) and a mini-biography or an interview. And as your character may only be a-list/b-list, neither of the above should be problematical. We're not asking for a million words, but hey, if you feel comfortable doing it, by all means, feel free. Again, as long as you're active and not making ridiculous typing errors, you'll probably never hear from the mods outside of welcomes and ins and outs, including when
awards and
gossip are going to be updated. And as everything else is self-explanitory, we hope you have as much fun inside the community as we do modding it!
