PERSONALITY Fredrick is not a quitter. Being a Squib means constantly being told you can't do something--and although it's true that Fredrick will never be able to cast a Charm or confound a friend, there are plenty of things he can do. He's thrown himself headfirst into studying anything and everything he loves with a passion that can only be born out of fear not being able to do everything he wants to. It's not unusual for him to up and leave for a long weekends (having a family that's magical and thus has a floo connection greatly aids in him visiting exotic or homely places). He goes back and forth between eating rich meals and boxes of ramen noodles. Fredrick is impulsive and quite a bit quirky, to say the least. Life's too short to waste any time letting small things get him down, not when there are so many things to see and people to meet.

However, as the only boy and oldest in his family, Fredrick does have a bit of an overbearing, protective side. He's good to go to for advice, but he can be very persistent and annoying when he thinks someone is making a Bad Decision. Overall, though, his outgoing heart is in the right place.

HISTORY Many people would expect that the day Fredrick's Hogwarts letter didn't arrive would have been one of the darkest in his life. And the truth is that it was, no matter how much he tries to spin it into being a positive experience. Fredrick's sisters remember him holed up in his bedroom for a few weeks, but none of them really understand how torn up and disappointed in himself he felt--well, perhaps his closests sister Ingrid might. After he got over the initial stages of grief, he hated all the pitying looks he received from his extended family and his parent's friends and vowed to never give someone that look (though he's probably broken that vow half a dozen times). By the time it was Ingrid and Greta's turn to go to Hogwarts, Fredrick was well into his studies at a Muggle school and most certainly did not want them to feel bad for who they were.

Going to a Muggle school had been made slightly easier by the fact the he has always been very curious about anything new and interesting and that his dad is a Muggleborn. Henrich Catchlove's strict rules, however, began to wear on Fredrick. While his sisters had the benefit of spending most of their time at Hogwarts, Fredrick was often times stuck in the house. Moving out when Fredrick attended University helped, but what really helped set Fredrick free was studying abroad in Spain during his second year at Oxford. He enjoyed the warm weather, new foods, and most of all not feeling guilty that he was a Squib (not to mention his torrid love affair with a woman with a Spanish lisp and dark eyes named Maria, though only Ingrid knows about this). Fredrick's curiousity turned into confidence, and when he returned back to rainy Chelsea, he found a love for life and the Muggle world that he hadn't felt since he was a small child dreaming of Hogwarts.
